  1. Yes, thank you so much for sharing. It is greatly appreciated!
  2. Unfortunately, yes, but we do include handling charges to cover pkging, etc. The amount charged depends on the shipping amount. Most of our biz is wholesale, so the retail payments received through PayPal is VERY small... That's how it's set up for now! Any other ideas would be appreciated!
  3. Hello and welcome, Krateliff! There's a TON of info here, as you know... Good luck on your testing and keep us posted on your progress!
  4. Me too!!! Hope to have 600 accounts one day!
  5. Thanks for the reply! I'll work up some numbers over the weekend for her...
  6. What we do is state that we will invoice for actual shipping costs and that we will send an invoice for the shipping after we calculate it. So the customer pays for their order, we receive the order and package/weigh it, then send them a request for funds through PayPal for the shipping. Never had any complaints yet. I thought it was kind of cumbersome, but so far it's working...it's the only way we could set it up without estimating, etc...(Well, I didn't set it up, the gal who did our website did! ) Did that make sense???
  7. Hello all! Just spoke with my hair stylist and she is getting married in September. She wants me to price out wedding favors for approx 250 guests (either votives, maybe tins or 4" chunky pillars - which may run into WAY too much money for favors!!), also about 110 votives for tables, 8 9" pillars and 8 6" pillars for fireplace mantles for the reception. She also wants about 35 4" chunkies for her cousins shower. Now, my question is when you price these out for this kind of situation, do you go full retail or more on a wholesale base because of the volume. We sell our candles wholesale, mostly, with a very small percentage going retail. Never done the wedding package thing, and it will be a good experience for me to get some pricing packages together for her, even if she decides to end up buying her own candles! Thanks guys!
  8. Hi Cindy - do you require the "made exclusively for"? Or how does yours work? Never done this before!
  9. Hi all! Been a LONG time since I've posted, being busy with the candle biz and life with teenage girls and my "real job"! Anywho, just received a call from a gal who asked if we "name drop" on our candles - she wants our candles with our labels, but her store name on them. That would be the only thing that would change. Does anyone else do this? Seems very simple, but just want to make sure I take everything into consideration before saying yes. We would still have our name noted with "made exclusively for..." Any thoughts or suggestions? Am I missing anything? She said she doesn't have a logo, just wants their name on them... Thanks for your help!!!
  10. When you use those, do you mix your scent and color in them or transfer to a pour pot?
  11. Got my first call about a damaged shipment (sent UPS). Only two items in the shipment were damaged, but I've never had to do this before - I'm re-shipping her replacements tomorrow (via FedEx Ground this time), and I have a call in to UPS. Has anyone dealt with UPS on this issue and is it a PITA? Just want to get a heads up before they call back! Thanks for your help! Oh, and no insurance was paid on the shipment...
  12. I use the 44 zinc as well, but have also used 44 cotton with good results... Cheers!
  13. Thanks, everyone... I'll keep experimenting!
  14. Hi everyone - new to the board, and new to trying to get a black votive candle! I'm using Astor V and Peaks black liquid dye, and the closest thing I get to black is gunmetal gray! I put 50 drops of black dye into 3 lbs of wax. Don't know if that's too much color - I'll have to see if they burn okay. Any suggestions? I also want a black container candle and I use J223. Before I start messin' with that I'd thought I'd post and ask for help!!! Thanks, and I enjoy the board! You are all terrific! Catarina
