opps that was a mistake, I used 180g of wax ... I wanted to use 200g but I didn't have enough left lol a friend of mine worked out the math for how much FO and all that. I'm terrible at math so he did it for me since he's a genius at it.

I just realized its probably the fact I forgot to add the beeswax which I added to my non coloured votives. I only had a small amount of Uni-Soy wax left and decided to use it to practice my coloured and scented votives on...but I had no beeswax left. I can't believe I never thought of that before now! lol this is what the candles look like for the second attempt. still frosted but i'm not upset about them, they look good.

Thanks for the help ladies, I've done my second attempt with the suggestions and now I'm just waiting for them to set before removing them from the molds. Stella what is USA btw? I'm still getting used to the names of stuff lol

Fter reading through the forum I've realized the temperature is ythe culperate for my sink holes. If anyone has any suggestions on how to insulate while cooling I'm all ears. After browsing through some candles at my local Dusk store I've realized even the best places have frosting and I'm now starting to loosen up on that aspect. I just never had frosting with my non dyed candles. Oh well I guess I'll just live with it lol

I posted this on the General Discussions board but was suggested to post it here. I'm having porblems with my votives accumulating sink holes around the wick after the first and second pour. I've also has some serious frosting happening with this new votice. Its the first time I've used candle fragrance and colour. Wax: 200g Uni-Soy (purchased from candlemaking.com.au) FO: 4g Opium Type Colour: 3g Navy Blue dye block Pour Temp: 80 celsius 2nd Pour Temp: 85 celsius I hope that's enough info if pics are needed let me know as I've taken some.

sorry lol I was using Uni-Soy that I purchased from candlemaking.com.au and the pour temp was 80 degree's celsius. plus I added 3grams of navy blue dye block and 4grams of Opium Style fragrance.

I need some help. I've been practicing pouring votives and making colour and scent combinations and I'm find that instead of the two pour's I usually have I've been having to do a third pour because as the second pour sets little sink holes are appearing around the wick. With the first votives I did when I was starting to learn how to do candles this never happened. It's only been in the last few months that it's been happening more and more. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or why it's happening. Any suggestions?

I've always considered trying them but have bulked at the idea because of the shipping cost since I'm in Australia. I contacted them about it and they've allowed me to post my products to my partner who lives in KS atm and he'll pass them on to me. Basically I'll be purchasing all my molds through them, but buying my wax and other items through Australian companies. Your post and everyone's replies have cemented my decision to try them out

I'm very happy with the final version. It took me a little longer than I had planned to get to the final version but thanks everyone for their help, its much appreciated.

and this is the final for the logo. I think the font is readable, the graphics are exactly what I need and other than the candle name it has all the info that is needed.

I was thinking the same thing. The second one is a combination of two fonts...The "C" is one font and the rest of the word is the original font I used.

yes Tribalvixen that is the castle I'm talking about And most people are either going for 1, 5 or 6. So far far or six is winning out for me. Another day or so and I'll have made a decision. Thanks for everyone's help.

Ok I've done six different options for the new text for my Brand logo, let me know which one you all like. Oh and thanks for reminding me about the weight of the candles Georgia, I've added that to the bottom right hand corner. I think it fits. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

The font I used for the brand name is Uechi Gothic. I suppose I can read it fine because I know what it says. I did have a more cursive font earlier in the process but it didn't suite what I was aiming for. I might go through my font website and find another, similar, more ledgeable font and see what happens. I'll pop up a few examples and see what everyone likes and doesnt like. I really do like the one that's on it now, but if it's hard to read than I'll need to pick something else. Asthetics only go so far lol

I hadn't tried it so I went and tried and this is what it comes up looking like. I did print it out on standard A4 paper and it's clear and easily read. So it probably is the computer.

After downloading many fonts and discussing them all in depth with my partner I've finally come up with the final label look including the name of the first candle line I'm going to be putting into production. I still have as yet to test the final ingredients list, but I've got a lot of wax to practice with. So this is what the logo will look like on my candles.

That is what I'm hoping to do. There are Farmers Markets that are held at the local Castle near our place ((a castle on the east coast of Australia you say??)) It's a tourist attraction, but quite fun when they have the annual medieval festival. I love the idea of having the candle name in colour! I think it would work wonderfully, and add that little bit of POP to the candles. Thanks!!

Temperature Question

I have two guns already, one for my wax seals and one that is used just for glue lol I think I'm just going to add the seal and/or ribbon to the packaging and leave the candle as simple as possible. -
i think the label is going to be 4x2.5 inch's in size. I printed it out this morning on standard paper to see what it would look like and I changed the font to what it is now. I'm still working on it, I'm just worried if I make the brand name bigger there wont be enough room for the candle name. If you click the logo it usually makes it bigger and to the size it would be printed.

I don't know if this is where I'd post this, but I designed the logo that I'd like to place upon my candles when I start selling them I'm just not sure if it's good or not. I thought I'd load it here and ask everyone's opinions? The name of the particular candle that the label will be placed on is going to be typed just under the brand name. This label is the bases for each candle.

I've seen it mentioned several times around the place that you can use a Presto Kitchen Kettle to melt your wax easier and I was wondering if anyone knew of something that was similar that I could use? I'm finding it VERY difficult to find a Presto in Australia and also finding it difficult to find something that is similar to use. Any suggestions?
