HI Forgot to mention that I have previously double wicked those jars with 2 lx 18's and it worked awesome. It was with one of the golden waxes though. You could try that.

If you are talking about the plain straight sided 14oz tumblers, I have successfully single wicked them with an LX 26. I used the GL 70/30 with 9% FO. It didn't reach full MP each time, and left hangup (not a lot) on the sides, but it did eventually catch up by the end of the candle. It had some mushrooming and very little soot, but only after the candle had been burning for 4+ hours. It tended to burn more to one side as well. The only thing that I didn't like was that the wick smoked some and the smell was soo strong it made me sick, even though it was in a large room. I used Garden Refreshmint from TSB which is a lighter scent, and it cured for 2 days. 9% is way too much IMO, I cut back to the 6 and 7% range and that is much more bearable. I like strong candles, but there can be point where they are too strong and you dont want to burn them. That was the extent of my testing and I was going to try an LX 24 but never got around to it. The scented bean has a really good lilac. Its soft and true to the real flower.

Has anyone smelled this. It is very nice. I only have the room spray and love it. Wondered if anyone knew if there is an FO that is close to it somewhere. Thanks

I like this wax, but am having trouble wicking it. I poured an 8oz jj with 7% FO. Cold throw is good, not getting any hot throw though. I am trying LX wicks, with an LX 26 I get almost a full MP at 2 hours and then they are mushrooming and drowning out. I am going to try eco wicks next. What wicks are working best for everyone else??

Wow that is really scary. I am glad that you are OK. I have a question, though. I do not sell my candles, just give them to friends and family. But assuming you did everything right, and this happened to a customer, then what? Are you protected as long as you put a warning label on it? What if it is a totally random thing, do we need to be putting "warning-candle may spontaneously combust" on the labels? Just kidding, but seriously I would hate for that to happen to one of my friends and their whole kitchen catches on fire. Any thoughts?? Just curious.

Try pouring hotter like around 125-130. I dont think this wax needs to be poured so cool. HTH

I have been testing the 8oz tins and they have been hard to wick, much like the 12oz metro jars. I am using 2 eco 1's right now and they are working the best. Single wicking these tins has always been a challenge for me, and I have tried every wick I have. So I have decided that double wicking gets the best results. HTH

In the Metro jar I tried an ECO 10 which smoked and tunneled. I tried the LX 22,24 which both gave big mushrooms and smoked a bit. I am going to try an Eco 8 again. I also tried a CD 18 which gave huge mushrooms. I did not dye the candles, but I think that I may have used too much FO. That is what is causing the smoking and mushrooms. I used 8-9% with some lighter scents. Next time I am going to use 6-7% and see how that goes. I think that is most of my problem

Thanks Sheila for your post I will try to double wick the tin and see if that works better. As for the LX wicks I have been getting mushrooms as well. Right now I am trying an LX 24 in the 8oz, but it is not getting a full MP by the first burn. I will try 2 and 3 to see if it catches up. I posted on the invision site and no one there seemed to have any suggestions.

I am really liking the cold/hot throw of this wax, but really not liking the wicking. Or maybe its just my lame jars, I dont know. I read somewhere back that people might be double wicking with this wax. I am trying to wick (single if possible) an 8oz tin, and the 12oz metro jar. So I have tried most of the LXs for the metro and ecos for the tin, but nothing is working. I am not getting a full MP by the 3rd burns, and mushrooms are forming on the LXs. The ecos burn to one side, but I am usure if they will catch up in later burns. But they are leaving quite a bit of hangup. So far I have had reasonable results with an lx24 in the tin, but am at a loss for the metro jar. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Top is right. I tried 14 different and spent lots of $$$ before I came to that realization. They all have something different about them. I still dont learn and try every new wax that I hear of. Nice hobby I picked here. Dont bother with the 444, it has lots of air pockets and the throw is less than stellar. For me, the EZ soy wasn't bad when BW was added to it. It really frosts bad, but has a nice throw. You might have to try it for yourself and see how you like it. Bittercreek has a message board and a lot of peeps on there use that wax and could probably help you out. Good luck in your quest.

Hey Top So when you say "paraveggie" you mean soy/veggie and paraffin blends? Would this also include soy/cotton and paraffin mixtures? I guess I have never really understood what the soy additives do exactly, nor have a researched it so its my own fault. It would be nice though to have a mixture that you can pour and not worry about adding a bunch of other stuff to it to make it nice (other than color and FO).

:embarasse OH sorry, just saw that you were asking about the CB30 at first. Yes this wax is nice I used it also. I think that when properly wicked it is a nice wax. I never got frosting with the CB30 and found that it had a great throw. The CB 3 (pure soy) always looked nice upon set up for me, but then developed terrible frosting and had air pockets after a couple of burns. Actually I have been testing the new greenleafs 70/30 and it looks rather familiar. Very similar to the CB30 in appearance and throw. I am sure that Holly can help you with the Cb3. Good luck forgot to say that I had the best luck using the LX wicks as well. LX-28 for my 14oz tumblers.

This wax has pretty nice hot throw. I used it for a few months but couldn't get past the terrible frosting. I know that Holly uses this wax with great success. Also, it burns really slow, which is a good thing, but I had great troubles single wicking it in my jars. If you color your candles you might try the frostop. I am sure that others can be of more help.

Hey Geek, Do you think that maybe some of that frostop stuff would help? Just a thought-they look great though. I can't wait to test.

HI poocha if you are interested in trying this wax I have a 10lb bag that I would like to get rid of. I tried it and it does have a great throw, but chose the 449 for now instead. I have too many waxes and they are getting piled up. Let me know if your interested. angela

I have been on a 3 month break from making candles when I decided to drag out my wax a see what I could do. Last I was testing were the GB 435, 444, and 449. I decided that I like the 449 the best. Is anyone still playing with this wax or have you moved on to bigger and better things? I lit some candles that I made in december, and wow they are strong. I poured the 449 around 140* and added 3% BW to one of my testers and abut 9% FO. They both seem to be throwing and burning about the same with the BW combo leaving slight more hangup on the jars. They are having the rough and bumby set up, but no frosting wich is a total tradeoff. I thought that the BW might have gotten rid of the pitting and bumpiness, but it had no effect. Ok, so my question is have any of you tried adding paraffin to this wax, like the J223? I think that will be my next test. Just curious, thanks for your input.

I have been burning my 449 for about 4 days now. It has a great hot/cold throw and sets up relatively nice after each burn. Also, I have not had to change the wicks once, and they get minimal mushrooming after a 3 hour burn. I have to say I like the appearances of this wax much better than the 444. Thanks for the great pix again geek.

Has anyone tried these in soy wax? I see that WSP has some, but I was wondering if they would be good in soy candles. I love Aveda candles. TIA angela

Hi Holly I knew it was coming from the FO's, and it is only in the meltpool. It is very unattractive, the candles look kinda dirty. I don't think I can completely eliminate it maybe just try to make it not as noticeable. I think I may give the chips a try to see if that helps a little. Such is soy, I swear if its not one thing its another to have to deal and conquer. Sometimes I feel like an organic chemist-shoulda payed more attention in college I guess. Mark, Those look great!! And pretty much what my jars look like, although I did not color or wick them so I had a little dip and crack in the top of mine. I hope that one of the suppliers picks this one up so I can play around a little more with it. Thanks for showing.

Mark Yes, that helps a lot. Ivory would be perfect. Soy isn't really white to begin with, but I guess what I wanted was just more consistent color. I will try the dye chips for sure. In your opinion, do they affect the throw/wicking. I have never colored my candles before so I am a little in the dark about them. thanks again I see they have liquid ivory color. I wonder if that would work too???

Geek I dont think that is too odd. I have never used the old MC soy, but I did recieve a tester of the new plain 435 from Jason. I thought that it had a stronger cold throw as well. It looks a little uglier than the 444 (have not burned the 435/BW combo yet),its pitted but no cracks, but I think that the hot throw is just as good, maybe better. And it is leaving less hang up in my jars. I will have to burn the 435/BW that I made and see if that helps. These waxes have all been pretty easy for me to wick so far which is the biggest problem that I was having with my old wax. I have a small house right now, so I can't burn too many candles at once, all the smells start to melt together. What do you think about the 449? angela
