  1. Hello all. I am desperate...........I live in California and I have been looking all over for Astrolite J225. I haven't tried it yet but I have heard so much about it that I can't wait to try it. I found one company that sells it but they have been out of stock for over a month (Candle and Supplies). Can anyone please tell me where I can get some of this SUPER wax? :embarasse
  2. j1workman, I would really like to know how your candles turn out with the wax that you got from Genwax. My fingers are crossed for ya.
  3. I have been to the warehouse in Hollywood several times. I will never use the container wax again. I read somewhere that Genwax was the largest supplier of wax in California so I decided that the container wax has to be great. WRONG! I was barely able to get any throw from the wax at all. And they do have a bad habit of just boxing the wax up, unwrapped. Now the scent at Genwax is great. I have at least 40 different scents from them and I love them, especially the Hawaiian pikaki, Ginger, Oriental spice and Ocean. I recently switched back to J223 and all is great with candle making again. I get a lot of other things from them too, such as the color chips, warning lables and wick stickums (but they call them something else). They are good for those things but now that I have tried Peak scents and wax, I am hooked.
  4. Wow, WYW has some wonderfull sounding scents and I would really love to try them but they are kind of expensive even if I do order the from BCN. But I guess if you only need to use 1/2 oz per pound of wax it comes out to less expensive than what you would pay for some of the average FO's. It also reads on the site that with WYW Top Shelf oils you only need 1/4 oz per pound. Is this how much you use Dallas_Texas_Dean?
  5. I have to agree competely with Darlascandles. The wick stickums from BCN work great for me as well. Never come aloose. I ran out of them once and tried the hot glue. I had jars that I decided not to use and later when I did get ready to use them, the hot glue had come a loose and stuck to the tab so I had to peel it off and do it all over again and use them right away. I will not use anything else but BCN wick stickums.
  6. I'm sorry but I just have to ask. Are XL (extra large) and Zinc referring to the same thing. I am asking because aren't there XL zinc wicks avail? I'm fiarly new at this.
  7. Yes, I would love to hear of any experiences that anyone has had with this companies scents as well. I have been looking for strong scents that I can use with some of the new waxes that I recently ordered and 1/2 oz per 3 lbs of was is amazing
  8. All the supplies that I ordered came from Bitter Creek. I was using 4 oz hexa jars and I think the other ones that I used were 9 oz. I tried zinc core wicks small, medium and large. I have since purchased wax and scent from Genwax, Lonestar and Candles and Supplies. Thank you so much for you help.
  9. Hello All. I am basically new to the board, although, I have been reading and reading and reading the board for the past few weeks. I have a major question that I really need help with. I have been making candles for about a year now and at first, everything was absolutely wonderful. I used J50 and J223 in all sorts and sized containers and got wonderfully scented candles that people could smell when they walked in my home without the candles even being lit. I really didn't measure much of anything at all except for the scent because it is somewhat expensive. I really just estimated how much wax was in the melting pot and added the scent accordingly. I ordered a starter kit from a candle company and just went to town when I received it. I had done a lot of reading before I began and I received some information about candle making from an aquantaince at work. It was great!Well those days are long gone. After reading all the information here, I don't know how I was doing it but I have ordered tons of wax since I began and spent many hundreds of dollars on ssupplies. I ordered the same (at least I thought it was the same) J223 and J50 from the same company and for some reason, I am not able to get a scent throw to save my life. Needless to say, I measure my hiney off now. I have tried using 1/2 oz per pound of wax up to 1 oz plus per pound of wax and still nothing. I have since tried several different kinds of waxes due to frustration and I am the most frustrated potential candle maker ever. Can anybody please give me some suggestions, some tips, some help.Oh, and it is not candle nose because I have given some of my candles to my family to ask what they thought and they say the scent is faint or non-existant.Sorry this posting is so long but i really need help!!!
  10. Hello All. I am new to the board. For the past few weeks, I have just been reading all the wonderful information here. But after hearing about J225, I had to post a reply. I am so excited that I can burst. CandleScents, I can't wait to hear how the J225 turns out for you. I plan to try to order a sample right away.
