Hi All! I'm hoping you can help me. I have found a very basic natural bubble bath recipe. However, I think the recipe could be improved with a few additional all natural additives. My question is: How would I determine how much additional additives to add? Do you just guess as in experiment or is there a rule that should be followed. Thanks in advance!

Hello All! Been searching and haven't found much info on Polyboost. I'm wondering, if Polyboost is added to a pre-blended wax, does it have the potential to do the same as Vybar and bind your scent? If there is anyone who have experience with this additive in a parasoy blend please share your results. Thanks guys!

Thanks Chris! I was thinking I could add essential oil with fragrance oil to intensify the original scent while still maintaining the fragrance name. For instance if I added EO oil to Bubble gum FO, it would smell 10x's as strong but still like Bubble Gum. From what I gather from your response it seems that it would create a whole other scent that i would have to make a name for. Thanks again!

Ok, I hope someone can clarify this for me. I've read and heard of people blending/mixing essential oil with fragrance oil. I am wondering why would someone do this and how is that done? I'm assuming with the small selection of essential oils you could only do this for certain fragrances (a spa or aromatherapy type) and not one like bubble gum, cucumber melon, etc. Or is it possible to add essential oil to any fragrance oil and have it still maintain the original scent? Or would it create a whole new scent? I hope this makes sense & I don't sound confused as I really am... LOL

Yes Peak wicks does come with the primed wicks & higher wick tabs! Yaay! Ordering some now. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks a bunch guys!

Morning Guys! Ok, I took a picture to give a visual, which may be helpful. Yes, the wick tab is still secured after test burning. If this is common I hope to find a wick that won't require re-centering after extinguishing. The first picture is after the candle has set. Thank you for your response! Yes, for testing I'm using a hot glue gun. I secure them with a plastic medium Wick Centering Tool I purchased from Peaks. The wick tab is still in place. It's the actual wick that has moved while lit. I am testing RRD, CD & Performa wicks. My wax is rather soft - I can see a print if I drag my finger across the top and if I lightly drag my nail across - it leaves a mark. Do you think the softness of the wax could be causing this?

Hi All! I don't post often but do get on often to read up on things. However, I have not been able to find a solution for my particular issue. I am currently using a parasoy blend wax. I am still perfecting this blend and have run into 1 problem so far and hope you guys can help me. Once my candles setup/cool the wicks appear to be centered. I cure my candles for 5 days. Even before testing they still appear centered. I test burn for approx. 3hrs. After extinguishing the candle the wicks are noticeably off centered. This is happening with all my wicks I'm testing. I do use wick centering & securing tools when the candles are being made. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks snowman! I've been seeing the Infrared thermometer around online. I'm having a closer look on those now. "just don't hit anyone in the eye with the beam" Thanks for that tip, didn't know the beam could cause such serious issues . Thanks again everyone!

Hi rjdaines. Yes, it's set to the correct units. Ex: The reading was up to 180 F and steady climbing when the wax just began to liquidfy. It went from 0-180 in like 15sec. I'm not saying the thermometer doesn't work but I'm thinking it's not compatible with wax. Used the glass candy thermometer and got more of an accurate/believable reading which was around 120-125 F. I laid the probe over the pot far down enough that at least 1-2" was in contact with wax.

Hello All! I currently use the glass candy thermometer but looking to upgrade. I recently purchased a Oneida Digital Probe Thermometer (pic attached) from Bed Bath & Beyond and the description reads: "With its commercial quality stainless steel probe, this digital thermometer allows you to read the temperature of the meat you are cooking even with the oven door closed. Another great feature is the alarm that sounds when the preset temperature is reached. Timer conveniently counts down from 23 hours 59 minutes. Thermometer has a magnetic back and an adjustable stand, so finding a place to put it is easy. Uses one AAA battery (included). Lifetime warranty. " After getting it home and attempting to use it, the readings were way off which lead me to believe this was exclusively for meat. However I was under the impression that any digital thermometer would work for the purpose of gaging wax temperature. Obviously I was wrong and looking to return the thermometer and try a different kind. Is there anything specific I should be looking for when purchasing a digital thermometer for candle making ? @Horsescents - I've heard the same & was thinking of trying it out as well but keep chickening out when reading the Horror stories of 4627 - lol. I think I could be satisfied with the 4630 if I could just increase the cold throw. @Coconut - I add soy to reduce sooting, it also alows me to satisfy the many people who will stradle the fence regarding the paraffin/soy debate. Can I ask what temp. are you pouring? Assuming this may have something to do with my faint cold throw. Thanks!

@mindyw86 : I have been playing around with the pouring temp. Last week I made a batch and added f.o. 165 & poured @ 150. During my research on the blends I discovered some were doing as Candybee suggested (heating to 185, pour @175) I've since tried and haven't noticed any visible difference pouring hotter but can't wait to test to see if any difference in throw. Is your hot throw not consistent? I've read where some have had to change wicks to get a better throw from certain f.o. Good luck testing!

Hi HorsescentS 6006 cold throw is great, I will miss that. The hot throw for me did not meet my expectations. It was just ok. However, you may feel different and I would love to read about your results. In 6006 I used anywhere from 1-1 1/2 oz f.o. pp. You're right the pouring temps can be confusing but I did find pouring hot was better. I plan to test as many waxes as possible until I find my match. So far, I like the hot throw from 4630 and J223 but the cold throw has me contemplating trying something else. Good luck!

Thanks Candybee. The first round I tested a week ago had cured for about a week. I did another round of testing yesterday and those have been curing about 24hrs. The cold throw didn't seem to improve much with the one week cure. I am about to play around some more and will increase my pouring temps. Maybe that will help. Hi guys! I have been using 6006 and loved the cold throw of it but the hot throw was lacking. Therefore, I decided to test a 70/30 4630/464 blend, as well as 70/30 J223/464 blend. The hot throw in both seem to be comparable. However, the cold throw leaves much to be desired. I'm using 10% f.o with both. Playing with pouring temps anywhere from 150 -175. The latest made were poured at 150. I'm wondering if there is something different I could be doing to increase cold throw. I have purchased candles that could be smelled at a short arms distance upon removing cover without having to go in to the container for a "whiff". I'm hoping to be able to achieve the same. My fragrance oils used have been from CS, Lonestar & Just Scents. None of them have given me a great cold throw so I'm assuming it may be my method and/or the wax. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.

I placed an order on Monday morning with Candle Science, along with 3 other co's named here for fradulent activity. Currently no problems or fishy activity but will be keeping a very close eye on the account used. I forgot a few things and was just about to place another order but seems it may be best to hold off for a while . This is crazy!

Hello All! I've finally found some jars along with lids that I love! Problem is the rubber fitting piece has a rubber like odor which disrupts and throws the cold throw of my candle scent off. Is there anything that can be done about this? Without the rubber piece the lid doesn't fit properly. I love the way the lid and jar looks together but thinking I may have to go back to the drawing board on this one, as the cold throw is very important ... Any suggestions would be helpful.
