  1. I would either cut the recipe in half or use a bigger crock pot. The hot soap expands quite a bit, even without getting to the volcano state. You will want room to stir it down without splashing is over. you could also make it In a microwave. It’s a little quicker an you can use other pitchers if things get expanded too much for your comfort.
  2. Fresh Cut Stems from set 2 is a lovely blend of green out of the bottle. It smells like you’ve taken a set of garden pruners and cut the flowers before arranging in a vase. Soap Notes: easy as can be to make. Took my time and poured leisurely. standard 40% lye solution, room temp, 100 ish degree oils. oils: palm, coconut, olive, Shea, cocoa butter, castor oil. % used: 5. May be able to use less for a fully scented cold process soap. Morphing: none fade: slightly less potent than I would prefer, but coming back during cure. Will monitor for it over the coming weeks. Acceleration: None Discoloration: ivory Candle Test #1: common 9 oz straight sided amber glass jar, inside diameter approx 2.5” give or take. Wax blend: coco83:sp487 70:30. FO%: 8%. The sales rep recommends using 6% to start testing. I jumped to 8 out of habit. wick: CDN6 The flame is steady and pretty, Cold Throw: 10 out of 10. Just like out of bottle Hot Throw: 8 out of 10 with this wick. I get a clear scent of roses on top of the green. It is strong, though. Filled my living room easily. Product Thoughts: I can imagine this in a florist line. Will need to test in combination with other florals to see if the rose tones down, leaving the green notes as a base for the floral scent. It’s beautiful, like a bouquet. 3. Test ting results for Clementine coriander: there’s a lot of interest in this one from long time co-op participants. We will easily hit the 25 lb mark. Once I get through the last bit of coco wax candle testing I’ll put it into soy wax just to close the loop on testing. i expect to order this one as early as next week. pinion wood may also go on that order to hit their happy new minimums. 🤞🏻

  5. Clementine Coriander from set 2 is the star of the summer show. The bright citrus is sunshine itself. It’s a fresh take on sweet-tart citrus juice with the slight green note of coriander. Morphing: none fade: none yet. I jumped to 8 out of habit. wick: CD 5. Will wick up. The flame is steady and pretty, but rather small for this candle. A bit more hang that is needed for safety. Will try CDN 6 on next burn. Cold Throw: 10 out of 10. Just like out of bottle Hot Throw: 8 out of 10 with this wick. With just a little more wick energy this will be a 10 out of 10. Product Thoughts: I can imagine this in everything from bath and body (bar and liquid soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, body spray, dusting powder) to home (kitchen soap, air freshener, dish soap, laundry soap, etc). Will smell cheery in car freshies too. 6. Just got the update from Team Shippo: To provide a simple, reliable, and more affordable way to ship packages up to 70 lbs in 2-5 business days, USPS is merging First-Class Package Service® and Parcel Select Ground® into a single, streamlined ground service level called USPS Ground Advantage™. This new service level is going into effect on July 9, 2023. What You Need to Do to Prepare On or after midnight EST Sunday July 9, 2023: If you use parcel templates, you will need to migrate your templates from First Class Package Service or Parcel Select Ground to Ground Advantage. You may also want to consider new pricing, service levels, and dimensions for those templates. If you assign First Class Package Service or Parcel Select Ground as your service levels through automation rules, you will need to update those to Ground Advantage. If you have flat rate pricing, you may need to reconfigure your pricing

  8. that's a great bonus right there! I'm all about easy as we age.
  9. you picked up some notes I didn't. thanks for the detailed descriptions. I can't wait to hear the rest! Your words give me ideas about marketing the finished products in story form. I love experiences translated to fragrance. I'm beginning to see a hint of a trend in what people have preferred so far.
  10. If enough people like the BRV my list can change at a moments notice 😊
  11. That’s a great list! just wait til the summer romance collection arrives to your Mailbox. Talk about DIFFERENT! Thanks for rounding up a focus group for us! The selections everyone writes about are very helpful when narrowing down what to bring in first. Drop a blotter on your warmer to coax out some of the deeper notes and nuances. The foil packets can be taped closed, or enclosed in aluminum foil to preserve a while longer. and also treat them as perfume strips, allowing to air out and sniff again. They all smell slightly different when not direct out of the bottle. I’m going through IFRA and testing the best contenders to just plain have a small enough set to complete. In all I’ve received more than 50 samples. Working through all of them would be impossible to get any in before the holidays. Strawberry Vine is on my short list. It is familiar, yet just different enough to be intriguing for online customers without being too scary “out there”. Fingers and toes crossed it performs well in both candles and soap. It is B&B safe in many of the most common categories. Tangerine Ginger is on the short list also. Though I think it will be really amazing with an effervescent blender, which is on the way. I like when the bubbles hit the nose. It’s that “oooooh that’s fun” but that takes people by surprise in a good way. rainbow moss is B&B safe too, I’m not sure exactly how I feel about it, but…. It’s worth a try for novelty. Black raspberry Vanilla: while I love it, I wonder if we should go for less commonly available, equally excellent fragrances for the first go-round. What does everyone think? If we aim for 3-4 the first month, that opens 3-4 the second month, and so on. If planned well, all of the labs who kindly sent candidates will get a bit of an order reward so we can keep this fragrance search going. It would be wonderful, to me, to have a fragrance collection of the month club. I’m grateful to have a group of people willing to take a chance on this dream. Members who have participated in this first trial with me will be given “Gold” member status for helping get this endeavor off the ground. Gold status will include premium pricing discounts on our fragrances and all of the Gold sponsorship perks of this forum (longer editing time, bigger mailbox and No Ads!)
  12. Thanks for sharing the links. Kinda thinking out loud about the different options. Hopefully brambleberry replies with the material so we can at least know where to start testing.
  13. For this I think we will need to do a lot of testing. impak replied with these two: Below are the options for our PAKVF6NISL material: 16oz : https://www.impakcorporation.com/FTSSP500CSISL32oz: https://www.impakcorporation.com/FTSSP1000CSISLBelow are the options for our PAKPNBW material:32oz: https://www.impakcorporation.com/SP1LBW77oz: https://www.impakcorporation.com/SP2KGBW @BenderSF I wish those descriptions were more detailed. Some are thin walled, and not all of the bag materials I just learned are suitable for fragrance. if given the choice, I think I want the kind to fill through the spout and not worry about heat sealing. What do you think?
  14. If you order 5 lbs of fragrance the oil comes in these bags instead of bottles. Was a bit unnerving to see what appeared to be a urine bag in a shipping carton, but they worked well and saved a lot of $$ on shipping. Their soap oils sometimes come in them too, like when they offered preblends. You can boil or microwave the bags, pretty brilliant. They used to sell them in 2 sizes but discontinued a while ago.
  15. Anyone know the material type of the spout bag Brambleberry uses for 5 lb fragrance purchases? I’ve asked customer service but have not heard back. Those bags are so handy for shipping and storage.
  16. I can see us getting the whole set over time. Maybe hit the most seasonal first, along with the farmers market hits? Get to pinion in time for winter holidays? I hesitate to mention I got ANOTHER 10 or so the other day unannounced… I’m tired thinking of the testing… 😀 AND the ifras on the summer romance set are in. Most are body safe to normal usage rates. Many will only need maybe 2-3% in cp. I’ll test at the low end first. The rep recommends testing her fragrances at 2% in soap and 6% in candles.
  17. Members of the forum can request a set of sniffies through a pm to me with your name and address. A few sets are available for sale on the main brand’s web store: https://scentersquare.com/summer-romance-sniffie-set/
  18. I called the rep this morning as a follow up about the set with a whole list of questions. The fragrances are made in two versions, one specifically for candles (which she sent) and one for b&b specifically. Before putting them into wax I wanted to be sure these were the candle version. I can count how many times I’ve put a fragrance from a perfumer into wax to discover it would not burn because it used DPG or similar as the diluent. 😣 since these are the candle set, I’m going to put them all into some coco83:sp487. She suggests 6-8% as their typical range. I typically use 8% but wonder if the strength of these will be so strong we will taste it in the air. It’s a gross sensation when that happens. I requested IFRA and pricing for all last week and they are on the way. While speaking with her, the perfumer indicated the set we have could be used in soap, but I’ll wait for the IFRA before testing further since the limits may be too low to consider. They’re usually pretty quick with technical documents. do smell mesmerize later when your nose recovers. It is a unique take on vanilla, which if you smelled it last, might seem to subtle after the other powerhouses. funny you mentioned the dusted sheets, I am die hard No powder. This isn’t that baby powder, though, so I really ended up liking it. This old dog can learn to like new things.
  19. Sherlock Holmes is on the case. In the meantime, I promised you all the Rocky I have left, so that gives us a little time to find our own Rocky.
  20. I can imagine a set of fragrances to honor Vicky, Trappeur, Dave, Old Glory, Eucalypta and others not coming to mind easily right now.
  21. yours should be at your doorstep today. Interested to hear (read) what you think!
  22. There’s an emotional component to this too. When asked, “where’d you get that?” Saying something cute and quirky is fun… oooh I got it at Lush. Found this at Etsy. Amazon. Brambleberry. CraftServer isn’t fun to say. we are also artists with scent, Scented Arts is taken, along with many variations, but we can morph something. the origin of my Scenter square name was that I live near the historic Woodstock square. Our claim to fame is the movie Groundhogs Day was filmed here. ? woodstock Fragrance Works. my logos usually have a spiral, which captures the symbolic journey we all make learning something new. the forum has, for the most part, become an archive paying homage to ghosts of chandlers past. We are actually foreword thinking, ambitious people who aim to make the best products we can. some communities I belong to that inspire thoughts for us: The Gardeners Workshop. https://thegardenersworkshop.com Lisa has a teaching model connected to a web store. She is active in person, on YouTube, and in print. I find myself leaning toward this model as a personable, relatable an non intimidating resource. I’m not as inclined for the push of all of those paid courses, but I’m not opposed to revenue generating pieces. Ceramic Arts Network. https://ceramicartsnetwork.org This is a learning heavy resource, with annual conferences. The forum part is legacy, like ours. https://community.ceramicartsdaily.org the Freebies section is neat. https://ceramicartsnetwork.org/freebies Basenotes. https://basenotes.com/forums/ this one is old, and cold, but is closest to what we are right now. Their software looks just like ours. They carry legacy info that is indispensable to the fragrance artists like us, and have cultivated a group of masterminds guide the newbies as we have.
  23. Sometimes I like to drop a bunch of nonsense words to start a brainstorm. No judgement on anything written, just words. Kind of like doodling. Scribbling randomly evolved into logos and petroglyphs. It feels like we are inside the chrysalis, still a puddle of goo waiting to rearrange into something beautiful.
