  1. Yep Square (not Square D) I have Square now but that card reader is just flaky. Looked into Intuit and there's no monthly fees and rates are about the same as Square. Intuit offers a bluetooth reader/printer which looks to be way better then the Square reader or standard Intuit reader. Having to swipe numerous times with the Square is just a pita.
  2. I have Square D. Intuit looks to be as good of a deal plus they offer a BT reader/printer. Any comments on Intuit? Any wireless alternatives to these 2 card acceptance methods?
  3. They come up on top if you google "online mall for all things fabulous" :rolleyes2
  4. Looks like a web of links kinda like etsy but with an inclusion fee. From one of the FB pages - http://www.katienewmangiftsandhome.com/store/Default.asp
  5. A swipe in itself means nothing unless the remaining information is keyed in and then submitted for processing. You won't get to that point with any type of terminal unless the card is read first (or keyed manually).
  6. Some lesser known search engines still use meta keywords so no harm in leaving this as is and Goog/Bing simply disregard it. When you're done reworking the layout go back and work on your title, alt and H tags as well as the content (aka Google love).
  7. Fast css class - right click on the page and select View Source In the head section of each of your pages you will find this line - <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/files/main_style.css' title='weebly-theme-css' /> The coding in the file main_style.css determines various layout features for each page that refers to this css file to include font colors, backgrounds, link attributes, borders and just about anything else you want controlled by css. The part of the "body" code background: url(theme/bodybg.jpg?900662) top center no-repeat; tells the page to use the image bodybg.jpg?900662 found in the files/theme folder as a background image - place it centered at the top of the page (top center) and only use the image once (no-repeat). When you removed that coding you removed the direction to show a background image. This will affect every page that refers to the css file. When you changed background-color:#000000 to #FFFFFF you went from black to white. If you use #FF0000 it would be red. There are a few hundred different color codes you can use. font-size:12px; color:#666666; tells a page the font size and color to use so you could probably change that thru the weebly interface or do it manually. Now why you got 404's on the other pages I can't explain since none of those pages changed. A change in css code would not cause a 404. You may need to "republish" all of the pages. ps A simple way to change the background image without changing the css code - Find an image you want to use and save it as bodybg.jpg?900662 - in other words replace the image the site now uses for the background image (http://www.eccolights.com/files/theme/bodybg.jpg?900662) Good idea to save the original image somewhere before you replace it.
  8. You're kind of unlimited what you can do with css so it's not a limitation. If you can find this file and are able to edit it - files/main_style.css As best as I can tell look for this line of code and remove what's bolded here (best to paste it someplace in case it needs to go back) - that should remove the background image. body { background: url(theme/bodybg.jpg?900662) top center no-repeat; background-color:#000000; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:12px; color:#666666; margin:0; padding:0; } if you change background-color:#000000 to background-color:#FFFFFF it should change the background color to white for other colors you need to lookup the color code One thing to keep in mind is that websites tend to be perpetual works in progress. Short of training up on css and html code maybe you know someone that understands this stuff and can decipher the files that make up the template.
  9. Changing the inner area to white and leaving the black as an outside border may help. Try experimenting with a few contrasting color schemes. Visual appeal will help users stay onsite as I can only imagine what bounce rate you would have with the current layout. Thanks for the kudo Ravens
  10. Once I leave the home page whose site am I on? Not thrilled with the color theme - too hard edged. Don't know what that background circle thing is top of each page. Different Add To Cart buttons - need better consistency. Both Warmers pages - no View Cart button. Tart Warmers described in all CAPS - Candle Warmers in lower case and way too much to read. No contact information other then "Request Form" which is a turnoff. You can use that on your About Us page but a simple email link is better and lets a user keep a copy of an outgoing correspondence. If nothing else replace Request Form at the top of each page with your View Cart button. No policies (ordering, returns, shipping, privacy, etc) Guessing the links are links - easy to fix in CSS by using a color text decoration "on hover". Don't know who built these pages but they need work. Title and Description tags are way too long. Why 2 scripts for Google Analytics. Link title tags are missing (title=""). Too much more to list. Twitter is a waste - FB is the way to go for social marketing. The bottom of a page is typically where you find links to policies, site maps and ancillary links where the page top is prime real estate for on-site navigation. Overall - whole site needs a lot of layout and on page code work IMO. The pics are very good tho.
  11. Thanks. We plan to get the app and would like to be able to use SPP until the reader thingy is received.
  12. Presuming the rate is better with a swipe but can you also punch in the card data? If so does it allow for a signature?
  13. The UPS daily pick-up account charges are worth it if you are shipping at least 3 days a week. If you're an occasional shipper then you are best served by dropping off your packages with whichever shipping outfit you use and saving the weekly or one time pick-up charges.
  14. We once had a claim denied because they stated newspaper was not sufficient packing material. When we explained that the damaged product was wrapped in newspaper "then wrapped in bubble wrap" (which we had to point out in the pics) they paid the claim. As for Fedex and UPS - they both offer pickup service. Depending on the shipment Fedex can be cheaper then USPS. Fedex (like UPS) also offers $100 in automatic insurance and you get tracking info - 2 things you pay extra for with USPS.
