  1. I also use $100 order minimum. It's not too high for a small business, but large enough to deter personal orders. I also set a minimum of 3 of each set since they are handmade and I make them as I go. I set my price to market prices. A retail shop can sell there products for a higher price then at a craft show. So some of my products are even 3X if I think the market will take it. Good luck!
  2. If you decide to forgo the insurance for cost reasons (i.e. your just not doing enough business to justify the cost), make sure you make your company an LLC. So if some idiot does decide to come after you, they will only take the business which will obviously not be that valuable and a waste of their time and NOT your personal assets (which you could lose everything). If you go this route search for LLC threads for advice, I think there is some good stuff out there. You will need to get a business license I am sure to get insurance. (but I'm not sure)
  3. Hi Angie, I have 5 cases (of 50) Deluxe Vinyl Drawstring bags-flat bottom (7.5" W x 9" H) for sale. I will be posting it with a bunch of other things tomorrow on the Classifieds. In the meantime I will PM you with the details! Thanks. Christine
  4. I find that clients would rather the candle burn all the way to the sides, then make a tunnel down the center. Double wicking will cause your candle to burn faster and hotter which also emits more aroma into the air. I don't believe it is proportional meaning it doesn't burn in twice the time. I think double wicking looks neat. Just some thoughts.
  5. NGI did this about 4 years ago when I first made a large order from them. They said they didn't change anything, but batch runs can change from batch to batch. The label in this case seem like a tip off! I would talk to one of their techs if possible. I know this isn't classifieds, but if anyone needs CB-Advanced, I have wax from about a year ago that I am selling. (but I'm in the NW, Portland, Oregon and it seems like most people here are on the east coast.)
  6. What do you think about aqua (dye chips)? http://www.candlescience.com/color/aqua-dye-chips/ http://pushthefuture.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Tiffany-blue-box.jpg
  7. Trust your instincts! If he is legit, he won't mind going through paypal or your website. I think we all don't give ourselves enough credit when it comes to these things. Even when we are at a show, a person who strikes us as acting funny might be having a weird day or they may be trying to scam us. But we all have that six-sense. You may just be picking up on his bad-day, but I wouldn't go outside of what your comfortable with.
  8. I package fragrance beads in 4 oz. clear containers, but have also sold them in organza bags too. I sell "aromatherapy beads" (with essential oils) in small shaker scent jars. Kind-of a aromatherapy-on-the-go idea. Feel free to use it.
  9. This is classic! Love it. What a way to solve the problem! Congrads!:highfive:
  10. Something that smells like Edward! But seriously, I guess I would agree that it would have to earthy. What about Sandalwood Vanilla. I especially like Sweetcakes! I also like their Sexy Men fragrance...I guess I am still envisioning Edward.
  11. I would consult a bridal website. i looked it up on David's Bridal, a pretty well known bridal dress store. Here is the link for persimmon colored dresses: http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category_3001608?searchDimension=689%2B4294965107&searchKeyword=Persimmon&searchKey=All&catalogId=10051&searchSort=&searchDimensionName=DavidsBridal.com&langId=-1&y=7&search_category=689%2B4294965107&x=7&storeId=10052&colorName=Persimmon&ddkey=http:EndecaConnectionQueryCmd Or just go to www.davidsbridal.com and type in Persimmon in their search engine. It looks like it is a orange with a little red, kindof coral looking to me. I think you can't go wrong since it is a national website.
  12. I don't know if you have check out the classifieds but I have some 4 oz. Solid lid tins that I am selling. Here's the info. If your interested in them, i will be shipping from 97229. 2 cases (of 48) Round Deep w/Solid Lid (4 oz.) - $16.00 case (at spec. bottle TND4) 29 Round Deep w/Solid Lid (4 oz.) - $9.60
  13. I think sometimes it in the way people phrase it. Maybe if she would have asked sincerely, it may have made a difference. My mother always told me "if you don't ask, you won't get". I would take it more as a form of flattery. I guess I would direct her to a website, or here to "help her in her research" pointing out that's the way you figured out along with hours of trial and error. I find most people won't put the hours in which is why we are so protective of our trade-secrets. Yet, were happy to share here on this forum. Chances are she won't do anything with the information anyways.
  14. For shipping purposes, I found that once it is in a box and is insulated by packing materials (peanuts, etc.) melting isn't an issue. (but, I am in the NW, not down south). I agree about when you do an outdoor show to make sure you stay out of the sun! It does fine in the shade even on a hot day. I always liked CB because of the frosting issues on other waxes and I mostly do wholesale. Frosting was a huge issue for my clients. I found that the throw is different with every fragrance I use (like any other wax). If my candle wasn't throwing well, I would increase the fragrance, even to double. On some fragrances, it's a one ounce to 1 pound of wax, but some I have to increase it to 2 oz./lb. Hope this helps!
  15. This really stinks. Sorry that it happened to you. You can page protect your website. I can't remember how to do it or what the code is. Maybe if you google it. If I can figure out what I did, I will come back and post it. I locked down my pages at one point because I didn't want the pictures or info lifted. When you right click it comes up with an error message.
