  1. I second the vanilla stabilizer. It is not very expensive, and it works wonders.
  2. Thanks. That is kind of what I thought too, but when I searched the web, I just saw different posts about adding yogurt, so I wanted to check to see if I could do the flavored kind. It probably isn't a good idea. I bet the soap wouldn't last long. Do you know how long the soap will last if powdered yogurt is added? Would you dilute it first, or just add the powder directly in the soap and stir, stir, stir? I appreciate the feedback!!!
  3. So...I was reading the additive lists and saw that it is good to add yogurt to soaps. I know you can add powdered yogurt, but can you add regular, flavored yogurt to soaps? (Like the stuff you would eat?) If so, how long is the shelf life of these soaps once the yogurt is put in it? Thanks all!!!
  4. LOL! Yeah, the easier it is to heat up my base, the better. The best part is adding different designs and additives. It is so fun to come up with new ideas. Hmmm...I may have to look into getting a soap kettle.
  5. When I make these, I just keep it in the refrigerator to help it last. Just make sure no one thinks it is Jello and EATS IT!!! That would be an interesting surprise. :-P
  6. Thank you TheWickedWick. I thought it would be awesome if they did have that easy search. Oh well! I think most of their FOs are body safe. It is so hard to decide since most of them sound DIVINE!!!!
  7. I am looking to buy some FOs from Nature's Garden. How can you easily identify which oils are body safe? On the Apple Cinnamon FO, there is a small notation that it is body safe, and I know I can also check to see if there is a 0% Max use under the bath and body information. Just wondering if there is an easier way to identify these body safe fragrances in a search on their site? I am looking to use it mostly for melt & pour soaps, but I like to buy oils that can be both candle and body safe, so I don't have to think twice about it. Any quick search, instead of clicking on each description? Any help would be wonderful.
  8. Thanks so much everyone! The reason I don't use a double boiler is just because I am too lazy...lol. However, if I practice for a long time and decide to make bigger batches, maybe I will upgrade. I am glad to know the FO's flashpoint changes and won't spark or heat up too high in the microwave.
  9. Hi everyone! This is my first post, but I have been experimenting with melt and pour soaps for a few months now, and I am completely hooked. You all don't know how much help you have been when I am looking to find an answer about something! I couldn't find the answer to this particular question on any previous threads, so I will try my luck here... When I make my melt and pour soaps, I use the microwave. Afterward, I mix in my fragrance oil, colors, etc. However, sometimes I am making a small batch and it begins to set up before I am finished pouring. Question 1 - Since fragrance oils have a flashpoint, and I want to be careful with the additives I have already mixed in my soap, is it safe to put it back in the microwave for a few seconds, so I can finish pouring anything that hardens too much in my glass measuring cup? Question 2 - If I make a bar of soap, and I dislike the design, can I "redo" it by reheating the entire bar after it is set up even if it has FO, colors, etc.? I would hate to try this without asking and have my microwave BLOW UP!!! *getdown* Thanks! ~Chrissy
