  2. here are some pictures: Image 1 is using #3. Image 2 is using #3 and the third pic is a skep and a pillow. What do you htink about the burn on image one and two?
  3. Sorry for all the candle questions. Just trying to figure it all out! Talking about pure beeswax here. Even if you have the perfect wick, will there still be wax left over after the burn is no longer able to burn? (wick is all the way burnt)? I am burning 4 different candles now. I am burning two pillars.... the 3 inch by 2 inch pillars. One with #3 wick and one with #4 wick. I just do not see how it will use all of the wax in the pillar. I always assumed that a perfect burn was to use up all the wax in the candle.
  4. Good point. However, when I burn the teas, I get 4 hours for each tealights. At the end of the burn, there is no more wax left in the dish. Doesnt that indicuate that it is the right wick for the right type of candle? What type of wick do you suggest for a tealight that is all beeswax?
  5. A friend got some of our tealights a week or so ago and tested them out. Here is what he said: "I picked up some beeswax tea lights from you at the Capitol Hill farmer's market (Seattle), and you asked me to let you know how long the burned. I was burning two of them for 170 minutes, before I blew them out. I can't be sure, but I'd guess there is another hour left in them. There was one surprise though, which is that they generate a lot of smoke. I wasn't noticing, but them my wife came home, and she couldn't believe how smokey it was in the house. So you may want to work on that part of it. I hope it helps!" What causes the smokey burn?
  6. any ideas or suggestions on how to package beeswax tapers?
  7. do you use the prewaxed and pretabbed wicks for the votives?
  8. what type of wick do you use for votives? I used the zinc ones that the styore said to use but the funny thing is that i think it is burning too fast because the flame started off strong and now it is dimmed way way down.
  9. the holes happen if there are any airbubbles present.
  10. why do they say to trim the wick before you burn the candle?
  11. right now, we are doing tealights, votives and molded candles. We are also doing pillars. Soon we will be making tapers.
  12. I find it to be useless to directly compete with the bigger players in the industry. What I do find more challanging is finding the little niches in the market place. For our honey, yes, you can get much cheaper honey at Walmart. That is ok because our honey is local and raw. This creates a niche market.
  13. Hello all! My name is Isaac and I am a chef out of Washington State. I am also a beekeeper and have tons of wax that I use to make candles. I was curious if there was a place dedicated to beeswax candle making. Thank you all and I look forward to being part of the family?
