  1. Could you pour in a room with the door closed and open a window weather permitting? That's too bad. At work we got a new employee who says she can't be around candles because of allergies. This time of year we use to really enjoy candles. :sad2: I gave a another girl a pillar set for her birthday and when she opened my gift the "allergy" girl practically ran to her office, made faces and noises of disgust.
  2. oh no! Don't you just hate it when stuff like that happens. Last winter our basement flooded and two cases of wax got wet. I set it out to dry for weeks, when I put it in the presto I heard little pops etc, and when I watched it I saw huge bubbles like boiling water! I had to throw out both cases.
  3. Thank you! I was surprised to see my old post!
  4. Check out Kmart too, "Martha" has some nice stuff for candles there.
  5. I have never tried any fo's, but I have gotten boxes and labels and service was real good. I like the small boxes that fit 2 votives, and also the display boxes. I use the round labels for the tops of my containers because my customers didn't like the labels on the outside of the jars.
  6. Try Peak's Peppermint Kiss, German Choc Cake, and like the other recommendation of Fudge Brownie. Also, Genwax's Chocolate Orange is really nice too. Maybe a coffee mocha would be a good one too! I nixed a little cherry with a chocolate fo and called it choc covered cherries, that was popular. Good luck, lets us know how it goes. That would be a fun show, chocolate everywhere yummy!
  7. This is a hard question because you just never know how long people will burn them. I started wicking for a three hour burn and I had more complaints that they had a blow out. So then I went to a smaller wick and the burn was closer to a 4 hour burn. The bulge that I think you are talking about is when it is time to hug the pillar. I gently slide the bulge upward and then press the shell toward the flame and the shell melts. I like the 30 ply right now for a 3" using 1343. I tired the 24 ply and it left a nice shell on most fragrances. On special orders I ask the customer how long do you burn your pillars and then explain which wick I will use to accommodate their burn habits. I give them a detailed info sheet on proper burning, importance of trimming wicks and drafts and dancing flames, as I am sure you do. But for candles in shops where I can't talk to the buyer I usually wick on the conservative side, take the chance of more people to be marathon burners.
  8. In my area I can only get cost x 2 for container candles. When I was doing jelly jars I could get 5.00. Once you are ready to sell, try cost x 3, it is always easier to drop your price then it is to raise it.:smiley2:
  9. Peak has it :smiley2: I'll send ya a sample, pm me
  10. Good job!! and Sandalwood is one of my favorite scents! Have you ever tried Black Canyon. The cold throw is amazing, it is sandalwood and musk scent.
  11. My husband got a new one for his business and gave me his old one. It is a Sony Mavica that uses floppy disks. I like it cause it is so easy to use.
  12. Whats the fragrance? Those fluted molds make beautiful candles hih? Wish Iwas at the beach, it has been soooooo hot.
  13. Wow! It is a perfect pillar for the scent!
  14. It is a nice color!! I make a lot of vanilla because it is DH favorite scent. I use just a tooth pick of ivory color in my vanillas. I have used just a bit of brown too and got a nice color.
  15. Been pouring for just me too finally! Patchouli, Black Canyon, Cool Citrus Basil, Cinnamon Balsam 1343 with 1/2 teas vybar, .8 oz fragrance and poured into room temp molds at 175 degrees.
  16. My customer wanted gold color Lavender Vanilla as rustic as I could get them. They don't look too bad in person. I may have to redo this order, my husband said they look really good and that the color is a dark gold. He said if she don't like them bring them home for his office. He loves Vanilla.
  17. What wax did you use? I use 1343 and have never seen that.
  18. I tested in 1343 and it had a really good throw hot and cold. I liked it a lot.
  19. Way to go!!I still remember that cool feeling of holding my first votive or pillar.....
  20. Nice color combo and I like your fragrance combo!
