  1. Sounds like a plan to me! Maybe make the snow flake mint scented? Like spearmint or peppermint or wintergreen, I don't know why but I always think "minty" when I think snowflakes (I'm weird, I know)
  2. I totally know how that goes. The FO thing is annoying. When I find one I like and suddenly POOF, it's disappears. I noticed Just Scent that does to me a lot, which sucks cause I love their stuff, but don't use them so often now because it got too hard trying to replace FO's all the time The POP thing is just really getting under my skin. I used to buy everything from TKB, all my colorants, and I'm thinking I'm just gonna stop and find somewhere else. I can't believe the whole "sit on your hands" comment. I don't expect them to do the impossible and make POP appear out of nowhere (but that'd be cool huh?) but still, a little warning would have been good. Ugh! My confidence is just totally shot because I used micas and oxides SO often!
  3. Yep. Super sheet LOL I posted an ad to see if anyone has any, I'd really like to keep using these as long as possible until an alternative comes out. IF one comes out. It would have been nice if TKB would have given a little warning IMO. Suddenly they are out of stock one day and next day it's "we are discontinuing", not even a chance to stock up. That's kinda crappy of them. I can't imagine the mineral make up people, I'd be doubly upset!!!
  4. Has anyone tried using TKB neon colors for soap? Might be an alternative....
  5. Extremely! Considering the purple is the one I need the most. I've tried their amethyst in CP soap and FYI: NOT STABLE! It turns gray. Sitting on my hands isn't an option. What are we soapers supposed to do about the other colors? And what's "about a month?" Ugh, I hate to go back to using regular old oxides because the colors just aren't as vibrant, especially the orange, yellow and greens!
  6. Seems like TKB is no longer selling pop colors?!?!? This really sucks because that's all I use. Anyone know what's going on?!
  7. I order from NG all the time, but have never had any luck getting them to respond. I've tried calling and emailing, I never get a call back (never had any one actually answer) or an email response. I really like some of their FO's so I'll keep ordering, but every once in awhile I'll have a question about wicks or dyes or something. So I generally now only buy their FO's and use other places for wicks, dyes, etc. No problem ever with their products, just that their customer service is kinda lacking...
  8. Hey guys! I was just wondering where you guys get your cell dividers for boxes for shipping? I figured shipping more than one candle, cell dividers would be really handy. Anyone have any idea on where to get these? I've tried uline, but GEEZ they are expensive!! TIA
  9. It's actually real nice to with, not real sticky no, cuts with a knife, very nice! As far as the 51Z, I tried that but DANG the flame was high!!! And the jar got SO hot! How'd ya make it work? LOL!
  10. It's burning ok, a little fast. I'm using a 44Z and there's like no throw at all. I know it's not the FO because I used an FO I know throws in everything. I tried using a CD in this same wax with the same FO, and it threw like mad but GEEZ the flame was high. So it's more testing and more testing, BUT I'm so happy I got the adhesion and smooth tops down. Now if only I could do that with a pure soy! LOL
  11. 60061.jpg Ok, this is a picture of the top. It's been a few days since I made this, it's still perfect. I didn't take a heat gun to it or anything, just did what I said above. 60062.jpg Here's a pic of the adhesion. This one kinda sucks because that thing that LOOKS like a wet spot IS NOT! It's my reflection in the glass. There are absolutely no wet spots on the whole thing!
  12. I'll try to see if I can get some pics to show you guys, I'm still not entirely sure how to post pics on here but I know I've done it once before LOL! I'll see if I can remember how!
  13. Ok guys! I did it. I finally, finally did it and REPRODUCED the results. HA! LOL I know many of you use 6006 and I've been messin' with it for a bit now. I know a lot of the complaints were about the sink holes, having to do a second pour and wet spots. I never had much problem with sink holes, but wet spots most certainly! Here's what I did: I did NOT pre heat my jars (mostly cause I was too lazy LOL!). Mind you, I normally DO heat my jars, but this time I didn't. The jars were actually kept in a room that was slighly below room temp, about 65 degrees or so, so they were actually a little cooler than normal. I preheated my oven to below it's warm setting. So this is about 140-160 degrees. In the oven I put a cast iron dutch oven and let that warm in there. I heated the wax to about 200, dumped my non-warmed FO & color in there, along with a pinch of UV inhibitor. I stirred a couple minutes and poured it at about 180. Slooooooowwwlllyyyy. I then stuck it in the oven, and turned the pre heat off (it was on for about 10 minutes). I put it INSIDE the cast iron pot, shut the door, and came back 12 hours later to look at it. Perfect. Absolutely freakin' perfect! No weird looking top,no sink holes around the wick and most certainly no second pour required. Looked totally picture perfect, no wet spots. I'm so doing the happy dance! Now let's just see if burns the way I want LOL And by the way, still no wet spots even a day later. Oh! A question though.....I keep seeing 6006 listed as "no additives needed". Does that mean I can skip the UV inhibitor too (crosses fingers)????? Hope this helps you guys!!!
  14. This is my own experience, but I find my soaps only ash if they change temperature too quickly. For example, if I insulate my molds let's say with saran wrap and towels, and I take the wrap/towels off when they are still real warm, it'll ash, bad. So I usually will take the towels off about 8-12 hours later, then an hour or two later the wrap. If I've NOT gelled them I usually put them in a cool room or even a fridge/freezer depending on the scent. I'll turn the temp up in the fridge/freezer for awhile, then take them out, put them in a cool room, then finally in a room temp room. Every since I've been doing this, I've not gotten ash. This is just my experience, but I thought it was worth posting. So if you are popping your soap out of the molds while they are still warm, try letting them totally cool down before hand and see if that helps.
  15. Candlebuddy, I've heard that too, 51Z for 8 oz jj, and it was working GREAT for 6006, awesome throw, everything was fine, UNTIL I power burned at 8 hours. I'm using very little dye and I'm using 6%. Then the jar got super hot, too hot to touch. Do you have this problem?? I was discussing it on another thread, not sure if they decide to power burn & the jar gets too hot if that's just a "not following directions" thing or I should retest with a smaller wick. I was thinking of wicking down, I'm just afraid the throw is going to be affected. I just use a regular SS JJ. I don't know why everything that seems to work for everyone else is way too big a flame for me? I should mention though, that I never get sinkholes (go figure). The 6006 is truly a one pour for me. I pre heat my oven and stick the jars in there, pour hot, let them cool super slow. The tops always come out perfect, no wet spots either.
  16. Maybe then Caramel Spice Cake? Or Frosted Spice Cake? That's interesting, I know what JS Buttercream Crunch smells like..but that's strange they would call it Welcome Home? Not what I think of when I think of that name....
  17. Yeah I can see that. What about like Graham Cracker Cupcake? Or Raisin Cake if the graham cracker smells more "bakery" than flat out "graham cracker"? This IS a hard one! Or if you had an amaretto or bourbon type FO you could add to it, maybe then it'd smell more like actual bread pudding?
  18. You can just put your soap shavings directly back into a batch of unscented soap. I've done that, it looks REALLY cool too, especially if you kind of roll the shavings into tubes...
  19. It kinda sounds like Bread Pudding maybe (sans the graham crackers, though). Is it heavy on the bakery smell or heavier on the vanilla?
  20. It's a jelly jar, 8 oz and it's 51 wick. It did get REALLY hot but yeah, I didn't trim or anything. I guess I'm wondering if that's just expected when doing a power burn or if most people try to shoot for the jar not getting so hot. I just don't see how that's possible though, wicking way down is gonna cause tunneling...
  21. Hey guys, I'm testing a parasoy blend and I'm at power burning stage for one of my zinc wicks. I'm burning it 8-9 hours, no trimming, and of course it was a torch. My concern is the jar is REAL hot, too hot to actually pick up. Is this normal for a power burn? Just wondering cause I've only really power burned pure soy, which doesn't seem to get this hot. Not sure if someone doesn't follow the directions (don't burn more than 4 hours which it'll state on the label), if to some degree you just have to expect that. I know I feel that way about a certain amount of soot with a power burn, but not sure about the hot jar thing. Just wanted to get some feedback on this.. Thanks you guys!
  22. I haven't been able to get the LX to work in anything yet, but I haven't tried it in the 6006. Maybe I'll pour some of those today. I'm still totally stumped with the CD's. I lit another scent test I did with the CD 8 and yet again it was huge flame and tons of smoke when I blew it out (TONS. Like filled the room from a little candle tons. Ugh). I'm waiting for my CD 6 to come in to try that. My 100% soy candles are doing fine, but I would like to throw to be a little stronger which is why I decided on parasoy, but it's still so frustrating! LOL
  23. I've been poking through the posts by those two and thanks!! But it looks like mostly they are using square masons, don't know how much difference that makes? Hopefully they will read this thread!! (I hate buggin' people!) It's official: The CD 8 is somehow, someway, WAAAAYYYY too big. I tested several FO's at 1 oz pp, the throw is GREAT but the flame is HUGE! And the mushroom is really bad....I bought some CD 6's but my gut tells me the throw is gonna suck or it's just gonna be too small. What REALLY gets me is that every board I've researched, almost EVERYONE using this wax & jar is using a CD8. Can't be easy for me huh? UGH!
  24. I think I'll try the CD6 next, just seems so small for an 8oz jj and parasoy. So far though I'm not impressed with the throw in 6006...
