  1. Most sweet scents have vanilla in them. Term like chiffon, cookie, cream, etc are general tip-offs that there is a high chance they contain vanilla.
  2. It's all up for interpretation but I believe M&P can be a soap, or a cosmetic, or a drug depending on the ingredients and/or claims made. It is my understanding that if there are no synthetics in your soap (w/ the exception of color, fragrance, etc) & you make zero claims it is a soap. If it has synthetics &/or you make a claim like 'moisturizing' it is a cosmetic. If you make a medical claim EX) helps clear acne or relieves anxiety then it is a drug. The first link will help you decide if your soap is a soap, drug or cosmetic. The second will help you label your item properly depending on which category your item falls within. http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/GuidanceComplianceRegulatoryInformation/ucm074201.htm Is It a Cosmetic, a Drug, or Both? (or Is It Soap?) This is how the FDA defines soap: "How FDA defines "soap" Not every product marketed as soap meets FDA's definition of the term. FDA interprets the term "soap" to apply only when the bulk of the nonvolatile matter in the product consists of an alkali salt of fatty acids and the product's detergent properties are due to the alkali-fatty acid compounds, and the product is labeled, sold, and represented solely as soap [21 CFR 701.2017]." http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/CosmeticLa ... efault.htm Summary of Regulatory Requirements for Labeling of Cosmetics Marketed in the United States.
  3. It's like anything else, soap is a buck a bar. How do you compete with that? With quality.
  4. It is CP. No one would list sodium hydroxide or water in M&P soap bars. My guess is that this is a fresh loaf & the botanicas will turn brown over time.
  5. I use the clamshells & they are fantastic. I wholesale quite a bit& the clear packaging allows the merchants to display the soaps & their customers are able to see what they are getting. It's great if you want a modern streamline feel. To answer the question, Brambleberry has them much less than WSP does now that prices over there have rocketted.
  6. I read several places the gas stove was dangerous because of the open flame. This is what Peak has to say about it: "Use an electric heat source if possible. If, by accident, your wax reaches the flash point, it is less likely for the vapors to find a flame and become ignited on an electric heat source. Any open flame, such as that found on a gas stove, will ignite wax vapors."
  7. I have been making B&B for 12 years. I used to make paraffin candles also. I used an electric stovetop & it was approx 10 years ago. I now have a gas stove top & am considering adding soy candles to my line. I have been refamiliarising myself with the process & see gas stoves should not be used because of the open flame & flash point. Given this risk, I am thinking the microwave is my best bet. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
  8. I am so glad they are back up. The website does stink, but I couldn't live w/o their flavor oils!
  9. You can get the realistic shaped ones at kitchen stores or places like bed, bath & beyond.
  10. I use fos that I know don't cloud. Bittercreek N has a fantastic mac apple that smells like fresh squeezed apple juice. It's a kid pleaser, fresh & wholesome.
  11. I used the Aqua-Tech hemp lotion for a few years, but, in an effort to cut costs I gave Catalina's back to basics a try. My testing group liked it just as much as Aque-Tech. Most of then couldn't decide which they liked better. I have been using the back to basics now for a couple years & am quite happy.
  12. Looks great! Collaborations are amazing! I always enjoy it when I get to work with a fellow artist.
  13. A lot of the suppliers have recipe and how to sections as well. wholesalesuplliesplus.com has a lot onfo available and easy to sort through. Hope this helps.
  14. My personal experience is that it can be difficult to incorporate butter or oil additives. They tend to separate and float to the top.
  15. I used to order from a dozen suppliers. I have tried to narrow it down over the last few years. now I get probably 70% of my fos from WSP.
  16. I have been using Daystar since she opened as well. I have always gotten top notch fos and great servive. There is always more than one side to a story.
  17. I love polymer clay minis that look like food, they amaze me. Awesome job!
  18. Those are going to be fabulous! The shades you chose are perfect.
  19. You can add glycerin to make your soap more pliable too. 1oz per pound does wonders to increase flexibility.
  20. I do not offer additional discounts for larger wholesale orders vs medium wholesale orders. Now if it was a huge order that allowed me to buy my supplies by the pallet rather than the case I would work up something special.
