  1. Hello, I have recently begun using a heat gun to smooth out areas of my candles that have a very obvious line between any layers. I use it on both votives and gel candles. What do you use to set your glass containers on while you use the heat gun? I have been putting my glass containers on concrete and very carefully used a heat safe glove to keep them "rotating" as I apply the heat. I have a cake stand that rotates so I can evenly use a pastry bag with decorative icing tips. It's plastic, so unusable for candle making purposes, but it sure would be lovely if I could find something similar for my candle making. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated!
  2. Do any of the apple fragrances you listed smell identical (or at least very similar) to the Glade Apple Cinnamon? I fell in love with the scent and I am not usually a food fragrance fan. I'm on a desperate search and haven't found the equivalent yet. Any info would be appreciated! P.S. If writing major brand names in the forum are a no no, would you let me know so I can make sure I don't do it in the future?
  3. The votive pins will fit both straight and flaired votive molds. I've never worked with forever pillars.
  4. I know we are able to post our thoughts on fragrance oils and how they perform. I thought it would be handy if we could also post our non-polar/polar test results, though I know it could be considered a liability. Can we post with a disclaimer? I would love it if I could save myself some time and $$$ by seeing someone else's results. In the meantime, I just tested these fragrances. CS Apple CS Apple & Clover CS Clean Cotton All of the above are gel compatible.
  5. I would check the forums before you place your order. I had a nightmare of a time from Gellluminations...I would NOT recommend them, irregardless of price. I just wish I would have checked the forum and BBB before spending that amount of money.
  6. Thanks to all of you for your replies! I noticed I had some definite seepage when I took them out of the molds. I typically only stir until I can visibly see that the oil has mixed with the wax. I am going to try the .75 oz and see where I can get from there. I'll just test with higher temps, longer stir times, etc. until I can get it right. P.S. My husband was quite upset when he came downstairs to find candles and no pumpkin pie! My dog laid patiently next to the kitchen, just waiting for me to drop something, too! I figured I would fool my husband, but the dog was quite a surprise.
  7. Has anyone else encountered this? I just mixed a batch of Pumpkin Souffle from CandleScience and the oil doesn't completely blend. It just sort of sits in the bottom. I thought that the wax might need to be hotter, so I heated it up from my regular pour temp of 175 to 185, but that didn't work either. This happened to me with a French Vanilla scent I was using in J5050, but I thought it might have been the quality of FO I used, because I bought from an individual and not a 'big box' store. Any ideas? I am using 1 oz FO to 1lb igi4794 votive wax. Thanks!
  8. The Hobby Lobby stores in Houston have accepted my Michaels coupons with no problems. You may want to try and see what happens in your particular area.
  9. I have not often kicked myself for not checking the BBB before ordering from unfamiliar companies, but both Gelluminations and Brighter Scents have to be 2 of the most horrible companies I have ever encountered in my life. I still regret spending my money at such a poorly managed communication with complete lack of communication and uncaring while packaging products. I am very new to candle making, and this had a profound impact on whether or not I would continue to dabble in this new hobby, however, after dealing with others, I decided to avoid Gelluminations and Brighter Scents and continue this new craft. I beg you to please contact the BBB and advise of the complete lack of communication and response from Gelluminations. Hopefully, others will do the same and new crafters will have the foresight to check out companies before buying, especially from Gelluminations and Brighter Scents. They do not bother to communicate with their customers. I have again returned information to the BBB in hopes to get a properly packaged and undamaged wax and wicks. I am happy to forward my letters to the BBB and emails to the company if anyone would like to see them in detail.
  10. Has anyone attempted to reproduce this scent? I absolutely love it and would be interested in knowing how to create it myself. Thanks.
