  1. That is a really great point about temps!! I lost the effect of my first two batches of HP (have only made about 6 total) because I didn't wait for the temp of the cooked soap to decrease. I use a lot of EO's and it's important to make sure the soap temp is less than the flash point, or you can actually smell it "burn off" and then you end up w/plain soap or extremely lightly scented! I do crockpot, and usually take the inside chamber w/the soap out to cool and use my candy therm. to "take it's temp."
  2. This is an awesome idea and now I have to go brush my teeth with some of my soap! I just made a lemon/pink grapefruit EO soap that might make a good pick for teeth!! thanks again!
  3. Anyone ever use their directions and formula? I got the KOH from them to try it but haven't had time yet!
  4. I can feel your "pain", as I look at the boards and all the soap info. while I should be reading for a test myself! Multi tasking to the max! Your soap looks great! I have started a collection myself, I don't think my family will ever be without a bar of soap again!!
  5. I use Stevia, I also use it as a sweetner so it's already in the pantry! It comes as a liquid and is easy to use!
  6. Wow now I want to take a bath with one of those nice looking soaps!! Great job!
  7. They are some great looking soaps! (my kids might try to eat one if they were on the counter!!) such nice work!
  8. Does anyone have a good source for organic oils? I have the Glory Bee catalog and they have them, I'm just looking for another to price them with. thanks!
  9. crisco is a hydrogenated oil, a process that does change the molecules by using high heats and a metal (usually Nickle). It forms a man-made acid (trans fatty acids). I don't use crisco or other trans fats because of the bad reports they have gotten in the last few yrs. In 2006 foods in the US will have to list their trans fats on the label for food products. I've read a lot of studies about these products for reports in school and they have stated trans fats change the cell membrane's ability to exchange fluids in the body, among tons of other things. Sorry for the long explanation, I did a lot of research on it! I don't do crisco for soaps because I dont want hydrogenated oils on my skin either! I know a lot of people use them, just not my choice of oils!
  10. I would search the boards here for types of molds to use for BW. I've never used it, but have read where others have gotten their BW candles stuck in certain metal molds.
  11. When doing HP, besides a wooden mold or the bakery type ones like in the tutorial, where can I find indiv. molds to use? Everything I see says M&P or CP, not HP...
  12. I get the same type of residue on the jars after they burn from EcoSoya 135. My wax sample isn't here yet, but I can't wait to start testing!!!!! My wicks and jars are patiently waiting!!!!!!
  13. they have great containers! i love the plum lipstick one!! Anyone ever order from them?
  14. Hi there, Anyone know what type of wicks for double wicking a 4" jar for this wax would be? I have LX, CD, RRD, and a few different ones i can't think of! Any suggestions?
  15. they seem to be out of a lot, wicks, containers, air freshners...is this normal for them or just timing on my part?
  16. My daughter has asthma (home nebulizer tx at times) and I can say that certan FO do bother her but the worst for her is making too many scents in a day...sounds weird but if i'm doing say 6 scents the combo. is very hard for her...or one time when the power went out i had around 10 scents burning in the house, which smelled like a fruit basket she started to wheeze...and we had to leave... since then i keep many unscented candles around for the power problems! and,...i only pour maybe 2-3 scents in a day...ones that compliment each other like apple and berry.....hope that helps
  17. As much as I love their Mulberry for tarts, in an ecosoya candle, i need to add a little pie crust or vanilla to stop the fuel smell.
  18. I usually pour at around 110 or so, no problems....most people add bw to stop the crater look after burned...i don't because i've never taken the time to retest with it and i only do it as a hobby! good luck!
  19. Looking for a great hot apple pie FO for soy candles and CP anyone???
  20. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience with them either! I use their extreme conc. and some of their middle one (conc.) in soy candles with very good throw...You do have to use caution with the extreme conc. like any other suppliers that offer a high concentrate. they answer emails fast and have some scents i couldn't do without!!!!
  21. I usually just put mine on my jar warmer and before you know it they are all melted and I repour into my new wicked container. I only let it on the warmer until it's melted, no longer than that.
  22. If you look for Keepsake jars they are 3.5 inches. I always got mine from CS but last time when I called the shipping had really jumped up!
  23. Sweet reduction (kind of like stress reduction!) Uplift Paradise bar Sunshine Looks good!
