  1. Yup, been there, done that, too...what a mess, lol.
  2. I don't blame cajun for the water in the wax, I can't believe how common it seems to be and I've never had it happen...but...I do not like how we were treated by them, though, that's for sure...I mean the lady yelled at me and the guy hung up on my husband, that is just bad business practice. There are far too many candle suppliers out there to be treated like that. I would never, never treat my customers like that.
  3. I don't remember who I talked to, the manager, she said...she was yelling at me by the end of the phone conversation, said she wouldn't reimburse me. I've never had this problem before, and she said they've only had it happen a few times, but still wouldn't do anything about it. I have a large pour pot, so I don't really know how I would suck or drain it out of the bottom. Not to mention, the 150 candles I made, didn't realize it had water within the wax until they cooled and I have this puddle at the bottom...she called it condensation, I can understand concensation, but this is a lot of water. Then when my husband called, Mike hung on up him, and IGI said it was cajun's problem.
  4. I ordered a case of J223 from Cajun, and when I got it, the box was literally dripping water. I pulled all the slabs out, dried them off and cut them into about 1 pound chunks...left them for almost a month to make sure they were good and dry...made a huge batch of candles and there's wax in the bottom of my jars. Water must be within the wax, too....so, I called Cajun and she said that's a normal occurance and it's because of the cooling process and that what you have to do is melt the wax, let it cool, and pour the water out that has settled to the bottom. Now, for me, I don't have time to do that, and in the 3 years I've been making candles, and using J223, I've never had anything like this happen. This is the first time I've used Cajun for wax, and I've never had any problem like this with any of my other suppliers. They basically told me that I was going to have to eat the cost of this case of wax. Needless to say I will not be ordering from them again. I am soooo mad.
  5. Ooooh, I've been holding off trying these, that's all I need, one more thing to try, lol....going to give in, and give it a shot, though. How much do you guys charge for them?
  6. Okay, I have a sugar/salt scrub recipe and I'm using phenonip for my preservative. It recommends using 1% per total weight...would I base that on the total weight of my oils only or the total weight of my oils plus sugar/salt?
  7. Those are beautiful!!!! I know, I wish I could make soap as pretty as Robin's.
  8. I haven't noticed stirring affecting mine at all. Decrease your FO just the slightest amounts...it will make a big difference...Jasmine does that for me, normally to 24 ounces of shower gel, I add 1/2 tsp FO...with jasmine, I have to add slightly less or it's all watery...I use the same base as my bubble bath, and add a little more FO MAKING it more watery and it's great....mixes with the water better, being that it's thinner.
  9. I think I remember back when I used to be really impatient and put the candles in the fridge to cool....the frosting used to stick to the molds more than when I just let them cool at room temp.
  10. Finally got through, they did get hit...running on generators..my first order I placed was way before Rita hit, though, so still trying to track that down..I'm just not having any luck getting supplies in at all, lol
  11. Thankfully, they weren't hit by Katrina...but I placed a couple orders weeks ago and still haven't received them...they're usually on my doorstep in 2 to 3 days....no one's returning my emails, and can't get anyone on the phone either.....anyone hear from them, or know what's going on?
  12. No, I got my money back...she wasn't real nice with me, I didn't like that she could ever give me a close date...it was always this week hopefully, I didn't realize that she ran it out of her house, either...I kept calling and would get no answer and no machine or anything....I usually just make my own, think I'll just stick with that.
  13. The wax you're using is too hard, too...you won't get a good melt pool....I use J223 and love it. It seems somewhere I read a while back that you can add crisco, but I've never done it, and don't know if it will soften your wax enough. Ditto, also, on the craft store wax...much, much cheaper online.
  14. They look really nice...if it were me, I'd make the body beautiful collection bigger..and enlarge that clover picture and maybe put the letters inside the picture...make your text box white if you have a hard time getting the lettering to show.
  15. My father in law is a carpenter and I put him to work every time he visits...maybe that's why they don't come over as often as they used to..hmmm lol
  16. Yup...I spilled a bunch of wax on me one time and the iron took it up.
  17. No, no, no...the jars CAN crack and shatter....I've seen it happen, and have heard from multiple people that they've had it happen to them....assuming, too that it's the wick tab getting hot...I sell a lot of wickless...but if I'm out of a certain scent and only have wicked, I tell them to remove the wick...you all may believe what you want, but I've seen it happen, and I will NEVER advise a customer to put a wicked candle on a warmer....either get wickless or pull that baby out. It may not be a problem, but if you get a jar that's been stressed....it's just not worth the chance...now, when mine broke, it didn't catch fire, but made a horrible mess.
  18. My customers keep asking me to sell fragrance oils in the little 1/2 ounce bottles....I'm concerned if they use them in oil burners, that they'd catch on fire...any advice on how I could sell these safely?
  19. The dividers was the main thing I was looking at....I'm sick of cutting soap. Uplands molds....you still have to cut, right? They just have that rubber liner with guide lines? Was looking at brambleberry, though...might try them out. Or, just stick to my good old home made ones.
  20. OMG, it's been almost three weeks, so I emailed her, she said they should ship my mold out this week.....she hopes (said that numerous times, lol)....don't believe I'll be doing business with them anymore, and I'm going to try to get my money back. This is just ridiculous. I was soooo looking forward to getting this mold.
  21. Ounce per ounce, is it more cost effective to use a lotion base, or make your own....I currently use a base, but I'd like to make my own to help keep cost down.
  22. I tried this exact same thing last weekend and I found the MP was harder than my CP that I melted down. In the process of testing the two...the MP was definitely prettier...but it was still pretty greasy in the shower...I rubbed it on my arm and when I tried to rinse it off, it had this nasty white film on my arm...had to wash it off with soap and water.
  23. Uggggg...yea, I emailed them after a week, and they said it was going out...but still haven't heard anything. sighhhhhhh:cry2:
  24. Ordered my mold two weeks ago and still haven't received a shipping confirmation...I know they were having some computer problems, but is this normal for them?
