1. On this test burn, I am using a CD18, using CB Xcel, 6% FO, dye chips are being used, Lonestars, Autumn Harvest. Perhaps I should be happy with this, but I think it's not doing the best it could be doing...if that makes any sense. It has a decent hot throw but I am not getting a decent melt pool at all. Plus, it does hang up on one side. Should I be satisfied with a decent hot throw with a little hang up on one side? I'm thinking that perhaps going up to a CD20 might be the trick. Thanks for reading!
2. can one be sent to me as well? chakka62@aol.com Thank you!
3. I have been trying to get this wax wicked properly. I really like the way it pours and they look absolutely flawless in my status jars. No frost, no bubbles, no crusty tops. I really love that. BUT....and it's a big but....I can not seem to find a decent wick for this wax. I've used the following, 60-44-18c, CD18, performa120, WI640, CD12, HTP104 For those of you that use this wax in a status jar, what wick is working for you? I'm nearly bald from tearing my hair out! Thanks all for your help!
4. Ladysj, Your candle and packaging looks great! If you don't mind me asking, do you do your own labels? They look fantastic! I'm trying to figure out my labeling on this jar myself.
5. Presto pot wax melters are the way to go when you want to make candles. Much quicker than the stove top method. If you're not handy or just don't want to attempt to make a melter, check out www.prestopotwaxmelter.com You can buy them already made up.
6. Wow, I can so relate Dreamy. After 5 years, I closed my Ebay store. I couldn't stand all the fee increases and then what I felt was the double dipping of fees of Paypal & Ebay. It just got to be too much. I closed my store and really have no regrets in doing so. It was getting to difficult for any seller to sell anything! Overall sales have been waaaaaaay down for me. Online sales are sluggish as well. At craft shows I try to be as selective as I can as to which ones to do. I'd like them to be relatively inexpensive to do; but at least known to have good sales in the past. It seems this past year, I can't get anyone to buy anything. People are hanging on to their money and just go out to the craft fairs for something to do. Ughhh! I can't even give a free sniff away!
7. Thank you for your replies. Man, if I could hammer these suckers into a concrete floor I would, I'd feel so much better. Of course doing indoor shows, that's impossible. I like the idea of the brackets and have thought of that. However, I'm not the handiest when it comes to tools. Even if it's a hammer! I still think the shelving system would still be a bit wobbly and top heavy. Vicky, when putting your heavy stuff on the bottom of the shelving, what if any are peoples responses to that? I know sometimes people can get lazy and not bother to bend down & look.
8. Stella, I'm just starting to test C3. My first pour was around 145 degrees and the tops were funky. Had some holes around the wick, etc. I'm not sure if that was a sign of pouring too hot or too cold. At what temp do you pour your C3's at?
9. Hi Y'all, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I wasn't sure where to put this post. I have this problem and I'm not sure to correct it. I'm hoping that some of you can give me some insight on how to deal with this. After 10 years, I thought it would be time to scrap the table top displays and change the look of my display. I bought some foldable 5 panel wooden displays just like the one I have pictured. I was all excited and did a dry run with them in the garage and thought they were perfect. However, when I actually took them to a craft show, I realized how unstable they were with all my glass jars on them, even on flat surface such as a floor. Every time someone comes in to the booth, I just shudder because they seem to teeter and wobble a little bit if someone would take a jar off the shelf. I envision them falling over or worse yet, falling on someone! If you take a look at the base of this shelving, there doesn't seem to be enough footing for something like this. My questions to all my fellow candle makers is: Do any of you have such a set up? How can I make these more stable? Do you have any ideas on how I can improve this or is there something comparable to this type of set up but much sturdier? I'm open for your suggestions... Thanks all!
10. I was using the perfect blend as well. I really liked using that wax. Once I figured out she wasn't going to be carrying that wax, I switched to C3. I just got it in and I will be playing with it today. Anyone have any experience with C3? For my votives, I use the parasoy for tarts & votives. I love it! Hopefully, she will not discontinue that wax. It's so easy to work with and it's a nice one pour wax for me.
