  1. I'm surprised they are selling them for that much even. It only costs me about .71 cents per clamshell to make them, and I don't have the bulk buying power that the big boys have. So it looks like the mfg. is taking advantage of the average going price and actually making a little money off Wal-Mart for a change.
  2. Do let us know what you find out about CSN wicks. I don't get my palm from them, but I do get my CSN's there. I'd be pissed if I had to start retesting everything.
  3. Eric--- Could I convince you to sell me an ounce? I'd hate to buy a whole bottle and find it not the right scent.
  4. Its for my sister. She lives across the country from me, and drives 2 hours to get to some candle place because they have a candle in this fragrance. I told her I'd scour to find a duplicate and send her a few for Christmas.
  5. I am looking for an FO in Butter Rum. The request is for a Butter Rum that smells like a Butter Rum Lifesaver Candy. I need something that will work well in soy/palm. Thanks!
  6. I just started experimenting with a new palm and wow--- I was test burning for wicking size today-- the candles haven't even cured and you can smell it throughout the downstairs of the house.
  7. I'm testing out palm container wax and had a small snafu this week. Had two jars-- same FO but different wicks, testing for burn. The sheet that I had labeled which was which got moved on me, so I went by sight-- assuming the wider looking wick was the bigger one. Now-- here comes the dumb question... During my test burns, the one that I assumed to be "smaller" has a much larger flame-- can a smaller wick produce a larger flame or did I guess wrong on which wick? I'm currently testing CSN 11 vs. CSN 12 in the ROBNAT container palm.
  8. Heh-- post a sign about FO load in wax and the dangers of oil seepage While excess oil may not catch on fire in a warmer, it will definitely wreck the warmer. But I doubt she's really using that much-- she's too cheap for that.
  9. You can make a bath melt without the citric acid-- but it won't disperse as thoroughly or as quickly.
  10. Yup. I think she's looking for the volume calc. for palm.
  11. Her question is about the yield. Generally speaking, when you measure and weight out 1 pound of unmelted paraffin, you end up with about 20 ounces (1lb. 4oz) of liquid.
  12. The flamethrower that I mentioned in another thread was a 12oz Interlude jar with a wooden wick. It was Palm, but I know it was enough to convince me that wood wicks were NOT for me.
  13. I get my jars from The Jar Store. The majority of their jars come with the flat glass lid, included in the price. When I order in bulk, I can get my jar with lid for .94. Even if I don't order in bulk, I can get my particular jar for 1.24. Depending on where you live, shipping could be bad. I live ner enough to DFW where I just drive in for my supplies from various suppliers once or twice a quarter.
  14. To be fair-- I have an actual brick and mortar shop so its not as "cluttered" as it would be at a show. I am an esthetician and I am also a piercer, so I have more of an urban edge to my products. When I do shows and fairs, I typically only take either my candles or my soaps and scrubs, depending on who else is at the shows. I never take my makeup or facial products-- its just too much.
  15. 444 vs. 464 If these were the only two available, which would you choose and why?
  16. Resurrecting this old post: Wow-- where to begin... Ok Clamshell Tarts--- 60 fragrances Incense-- 40 fragrances 4oz and 10oz candles-- 25-30 fragrances (best sellers from the tarts) CP Soap-- 20 fragrances Lip Balm-- 10-15 fragrances Solid Perfume-- 10-15 fragrances Bath Salts-- 15-20 fragrances Bath Bombs-- 15-20 fragrances Bubble Bars-- 15-20 fragrances Bath Melts-- 5-10 fragrances Massage Bars-- 3-6 fragrances Sugar Scrub-- 5-10 fragrances Body Butter-- 5-10 fragrances Mineral Cosmetics--- I offer 15 different foundation shades, 10 lipstick shades, 8 blushers, about 40-50 eyeshadows at any given time, and anywhere from 5-10 eyeliner colors. This doesn't include Veil, Bronzer, and Concealer. This is what is made in house-- I did not include what I have contracted out (facial line, lotions, shampoos/conditioners).
  17. One simple line: Training clients is a lot like herding cats.
  18. I definitely love me some Lonestar!! Before I got to the point of where I was ordering by the pallet for glassware, thats where I went. Now its the Jar Store.
  19. You can fit quite a bit into the flat rate Priority boxes from the USPS. Thats what I do.
  20. Ohhhhh Midrin! The magic red pill! I've suffered from migraines since CHILDHOOD. Midrin was, and still is, my little miracle. I was first presribed it in 2004 and I have gone from 2 or 3 migraines per WEEK to maybe 1 a month. Do keep on it though. If she is having continuous migraines (longer than 48 hours) something else is likely going on under the surface. Whether it be chemical or physiological-- that is not a normal situation. From a purely ecological standpoint-- no wax is any better than the other. In fact, I've always found the eco-argument to be the most idiotic argument against parrafin out there. Parrafin is the only wax that doesn't require you to destroy something--- its a by-product of something thats already being made anyhow. With proper wicking and FO%, you're not gonna get any more soot from them than you do Soy or Palm.
  21. I've not tried to use them personally. I purchased a candle at a street fair that was Palm with a wooden wick. I'm going to make a guess based on appearance that they got their Palm from S&P-- thats the look it had. Got it home and lit it. Never before have I been AFRAID to leave a candle alone. It was a flame thrower! Within 10 minutes, it had seriously tunneled and was drowning out. I've never seen anything like it. Of course, may have been a case of a bad chandler. No labels on the jars (using the Interlude jars). They gave me a business card but it got lost somehow (was looking for it to warn them about the flamethrower). Candle was ROUGH looking on the top. I'mma scared of the wood wicks now!!
  22. I don't know about jelly jars, but on their Libby glassware JBN is ungodly expensive. You can get every Libbey item they carry much cheaper either at LoneStar or at The Jar Store in Dallas. I used to get the majority of my supplies at JBN, but their prices have gone up and discounts and coupons have gone down
  23. Oooh-- do you happen to have the dimensions for the 12oz?
  24. Be very choosy about what fragrances you get from them. There are a few that are great-- but a lot of them are much weaker than those from other makers.
