  1. OK... honest opinion. I think the southern Scents needs to come down just a smidge - so you are not in the border. I think that the phone number and email address should be on the warning label, along with your real, physical address and the weight of the candle. Otherwise - I think the label looks great! Does it adhere well when it gets hot? That's the issue I had when I attempted labels on the side of container candles.

  3. $50 is great. Do you have to provide a tent? Tables? Electric (if you need it?)? I would bring LOTS of business cards and 20 cases. I would have more at home if you need it for the second day... but that's just me.
  4. Hello! So, I have been making candles and tarts for 6 years and sell them locally consignement (very little) and mostly at craft shows. Over the last year or so, I have noticed that I sell much fewer candles and much more tarts. For example, the last big craft show we did (three days) I sold 16 candles and 295 wax melt bars. Is this a trend you guys are seeing as well? I am about done with schlepping the candles to craft shows - I can bring 30 scents in wax melts much easier then 30 scents in candles. Thanks!
  5. Folks, I am looking for the attached tart warmer at wholesale prices. So far, I found them on other people's sites... Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!
  6. Folks, first, let me precede my post by saying that I am not affiliated with Rite Hete, and I do not get any $$$ for posting this review. I have been making candles for 6+ years now. I started using a double boiler on the stove. That didn't last long. I soon got my first presto pot. I used them extensively, and after three years or so I started selling my candles and wax melts. I had to upgrade to a Turkey Fryer at KMart. The first one was soon too small, so I bought the Turkey frier XL at Costco. Then, in February last year, WalMart sold their fall stuff pretty cheap, and I got another turkey frier. Having three turkey friers and a five presto pots I was pretty happy. Forward to Fall 2011. Candle fundraiser - 700 candles to make. I was sweating, and the turkey friers weren't able to keep up with me. But, I made it to the deadline. FOrward to Summer 2012. Turkey frier 1 and 2 broke. Fall 2012 new fundraiser. Turkey frier 3 broke. Dilemma - what should I do - turkey friers are $100 if not on sale... Long research, a loan and convincing the better half I purchased a Rite Hete 10 Gallon VRS-40 heater. Yes, they are expensive. Very. Shipping is half the cost of a turkey frier. They are big. Heavy. However, that ingenious thing comes with TWO blankets to melt wax. Upper and lower. I heated the melter per instructions, and put 65 lbs of wax in it. Two hours later I had a lot of liquid wax. The spout is great. Makes a little bit of a mess, but doable. Uses about $1.10 in electricity if run all day. Great craftsmanship - it's stainless steel. Seems to be able to live through a zombie apocalypse. So, if you are in the market for one, check them out. It seems that a couple of candle suppliers sell them as well... but... buy directly from them. It's cheaper. www.ritehete.com Have fun!
  7. www.onlinelabels.com has a barcode generator that I have used. It's free when you buy labels from them, but you can try the trial version as well, I think.
  8. NaturallyTru, I always enjoy your responses and can't believe that I can answer one of your questions. I had the same question, and spent about an hour on the web to figure it out... until I went back to Fillmore's site. I found the answer right there... I find Fillmore easy to work with, Keith is super, they ship fast and secure, but their site is not so user-friendly. I copied this from Fillmore's site: Q. What’s the difference between CT & lug? A. These are the two primary types of containers and closures currently used in food packaging. Continuous-thread (CT) is the Mason-style closure mechanism where the jar and lid are both threaded in one continuous bead around the entire circumference of the opening; also referred to as “screw-on”. Lug is the closure system where the container has multiple threads and the lid has an equal number of lugs or tabs that grip the corresponding threads; also known as “twist-on”. I copied it from http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/faq.asp :smiley2: Alpha1477
  9. Trying to find a scent similar to Greenleaf's English Garden. Greenleaf made the scent about 15 years ago (box says 1996). It's a flowery, rose smelling scent. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!
  10. I would like a copy as well - maybe we can post it somewhere for a download???
  11. I am looking for someone who can make a eps file transparent???
  12. LynnS, you need to try this: Take the bulb out of your plug in warmer and attempt to screw it into a regular nightlight that's not plugged in. Does it fit? Yes? It's a candelabra base. You now know the base. Now, measure the bulb length's. Go to http://www.1000bulbs.com/category/15-watt-clear-straight-tip-candelabra-base-decorative-chandelier-light-bulbs/ and look at the bulbs. My guess is, that the bulb that you have looks kinda like it, but not all the way. Well, the bulbs on 1000 bulbs should work, anyhow. HTH Alpha1477
  13. Yep, good product. Shipping is good. You may want to try their samples. I believe you only pay shipping. I ordered a box a while back, since 1 box is the minimum order (unlike other places).
  14. Too bad I don't live in a Academy Sports state... I would KILL for one or two at that price!!! Anyone interested in buying them locally and shipping them to me???
  15. I was browsing... found this website... http://www.nvcandles.com/ I have been making and selling candles for years, but I can't believe someone is selling candles at these prices... What do you guys think?
  16. Hey! I have been snooping around the forum for a while, but have been making candles for years. Very happy to find this forum - great information without the attitude that some forums show. I have to say that I am happy to be here! Oh, and there will be a LOT of stupid questions coming your way, folks!! Thanks!
  17. I used the Peak Tall Grass FO as a sample - and it smells like I just cut a field of tall grass - very true to scent, IMO.
  18. Thank you! I appreciate your reply! They are a little pricier than what I expected, though... I will go with regular lids for now.
  19. Folks, where are you getting your lids for Mason Jars from? I found Fillmore a good source for the glassware, but the lids are just slightly pricey...
  20. Gdawg, a clamshell is a 6 cavity platic fold-open piece. You pour wax directly into the plastic clamshell, Label it, close it up and sell it for $3 - $4.50 (according to previous posts). You want NOT to break the wax in pieces, and you do not want to remove the wax and sell it by itself. Therefore, Clamshells (sold somewhere between $0.25and $0.50 a piece) are a SINGLE use item. When you do large numbers, you can buy a CASE of clamshells (850 pcs or so) directly from a manufacturer. Also, as I found out myself, you do not want to pour wax with a melt point much above 125-130. The wax will not melt all the way on different warmers. Hope this helps.
  21. You may want to look into the ZENcart -it's free and works with PayPal
  22. I'm using IGI4641A as well as IGI4636A to make tarts. Right now, I am mixing the wax 50/50. The tarts (Clamshells) look good, come out of the package good and smell good. However, when I melt them, the wax does not melt completely. Am I doing something wrong? Are other waxes melting completely? Is anyone else using these waxes? Does the KY tart wax melt completely? Lots of questions... Thanks!:rolleyes2
