  1. Apple. And, especially "Apple Jack & Peel". Something about apple cider smells make me sick to the stomach - though I can handle "pumpkin pie" and "red hot cinnamon" - the apple just makes me gag. Even Apple Orchard. But people love it...
  2. Yes, I think you're right. I haven't seen non-crystalizing palm anywhere either. You wouldn't want to add palm OIL at 10% -- I can't imagine that would burn well at all.
  3. I tried adding palm to my 464 last night. It's feather palm, a pillar wax, so maybe the glassglow would perform better. I did two candles, with palm at 10% and 20%. I just poured the same FO in 100% 464, so next week I'll test each one in different areas of the house, and if I remember report back on performance. Not happy with the looks of the candles. It cooled ... grainy. There's some frosting on both w/palm, and no frosting (yet, anyway) on the 100% soy. The candle with 20% palm sunk in terribly when cooling - and dried all grainy/funny looking. I did take a picture. It took three different blasts with the heat gun to get a nice top (just kept sinking back down - big air hole around the wick). And, so, now there's a visible layer on the top where I used the heat gun. I poured at about 150º for all candles. Added FO (CS Caramelized Pralines) at 1 oz ppw at 175º for all three. After capping the two with palm wax overnight, there isn't a noticeable difference with CT between the 10% and 20% palm.
  4. Hi Sharon-- Spectrum (brand) makes a Trans-fat free shortening that is 100% palm oil. A lot of soapers use this. It's rather spendy for soaping, but the price isn't bad if you're just adding 1 tbsp ppw for candles. You can find it at natural food stores, or in the natural foods section of your grocery store. It comes in a blue and white tub. I'm really curious about this, as I've been mixing palm and soy for quite a while - but mostly a small amount of soy in palm. I have some 464 coming today, to replace my CBAdvanced that I didn't like. And a whole lot of Palm Feather Wax. I get a MUCH better scent throw out of palm, but I like the looks of soy in jars better (and many people just want soy). I think I'm going to try some testers at 10% and 20% palm. Since it's a pillar wax, I don't want to go too high. May try the palm oil too, thank you for the suggestion.
  5. I get Rooto 100% Lye at TruValue Hardware stores and Menards. It's always on the shelves. This is in Minnesota, so your findings may vary. I have also ordered from aaa-chemicals. Good luck!
  6. WOW. Your soaps continue to amaze me. I LOVE this one!!
  7. Beautiful! I love the colors!!
  8. They look great! I love the soft pink, too.
  9. I've been test burning a 3x4 feather wax (palm) pillar on and off all day. It is doing very, very well with an HTP 105 wick. I have CSN 12 & 14 wicks on order (coming monday), and I'll be trying the same pillar with a CSN 14 then. I am hoping they burn similarly - and also hoping that the CSN wicks help with the hot throw. This one is OK, but I think it could be better. ETA - If you want LX wicks, I would start with an LX24 for a 3" diameter palm pillar. But I'm still learning palm - so take that with a grain of salt.
  10. I had a really hard time wicking this wax, and just ordered the CB Advanced wax to replace the CB 135 (I have about a cup of 135 left). In 16 oz. apothecary jars, I put in two wicks (HTP 83, usually - but I've also used LX wicks with this wax). The HTP 104 didn't cut it, and I gave up with on one wick (I think the jars are 3.75" wide?). In general, with soy container candles I've found that two smaller wicks is better than one - better scent throw, and a fuller melt pool.
