  8. These are really fun looking. I must stop showing my children the soaps on here, because they seem to think that I should have the skills of you professionals, NOT. Keep up the great work. M&M
  9. Really cool looking soaps. This is an addiction, just looking at pictures gives inspiration. My teenager says the castile coconut looks like lemon meringue.Hungry people here.M&M

  11. I simply love how it looks. Sometimes mishaps are a wonderful thing. Really Nice.
  12. These look really nice, Eugenia. They do look similar to cream cheese brownies.
  13. Good Evening Tootie, How are ya doing? No not the welder hats, but hats that you see the Church ladies in, Kentucky derby type hats for the ladies, silk fusion, wool felt and straw hats. Like all people who jump into any creative art, you want to expand what you do an take it to the next level. My mom started me sewing at age 8 and I have been goin' ever since. My next venture is weaving my own fabric. But as far as a welder hat, while not a welder or a iron worker --was a Union Electrician. From being a housewife, from being a Senior Admin Assistant w/Bank One before they were JP Morgan. I will take soap over that chaos any day. SOAP 4 LIFE:highfive: M&M
  14. Jadewicks, I also used Eugenia's Tutorial. I wasn't brave enough to venture off from her recipe. Don't you feel like you've triumph over the lye? But as you said, I didn't use fragrance oil either, I was a little afraid of it. I think, like many have said, you're gonna be addicted to this immediately. Can't wait to see the end product. I wish you well. M&M
  15. This has already happened! I said to myself, "Self, how did you live without this lovely, creative way to express yourself? I don't know, but you must make up for the time lost!":grin2: I really like this soaping life (only lived it for about a week:laugh2:). My husband has purchased a slab mold, linerless molds and cutters already. He figures I'll stay out of his way then he could just have video game parties (I hate how the men get with the play stations and x-boxes). My next soap, which I'm doing tomorrow, will have a fragrance. My son picked the one fragrance I purchased, amaretto. I hope it comes out o.k. He said, "Ma, I want a soap that doesn't smell girlie." Hay! He's making requests, go figure! And to everyone, THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS & COMPLIMENTS. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SOAP COMMUNITY. M&M
  16. Thanks for the comments & compliments. It has already become an addiction after the first try. Even my children (the ones left @ home, 15, 12 & 11 yr olds) are making suggestions on inclusions, colors and shapes. My 15 yr old wants to do CP for a Science Fair Project. I have many hobbies (knitting, crocheting, sewing, hatmaking, glass bead making, beading, nagging my hubby:laugh2: & getting on my kids nerves:grin2: just to name a few) but I think this is gonna make me leave the others alone for a while. I was awaken last night thinkin' I have to go purchase more racks for curing the soaps I wanna do. Just the mere possibilities make me . LOL. Oatmeal, Milk & Honey here I come! Thanks again all! M&M
  17. Thanks, no it isn't scented. I was afraid of it seizing up, besides I haven't really gotten the FO thing down(as I am really a soap virgin). I really want to try some scents, but not sure which ones to purchase. My hubby will be purchasing some scents & colorants for me soon. So I can't wait. By the way thanks for the info on the signature area. Thanx, M&M
  18. Hello All, Hopefully the pictures show up. This is my 1st soap baby. :whoohoo: :whoohoo: :whoohoo: I followed the tutorial for room temp cold process. The pictures appear to be kinda blah, but I did the best I can. Now I can kinda experiment, because the only reason I never started was because I was afraid of the lye.:embarasse Any comments, help and suggestions are very much welcomed. Would someone please help me to configure my little area for posting!??! Most everyone has a nice little saying or picture with every post. Thanks for the tutorials and the welcome. 19. Hi CareBear, Thanks! I just wanted to have everything before me when I started (I'm a worrier):embarasse. I checked around the neighborhood for scales and the prices are not so low. So I'll be waiting like a mad woman until my scale gets here. Oh, I found out that my hubby ordered the scale from amazon. I hope we get our scale, because some of the vendors at amazon suck:mad:. I've had some bad experiences with a few of the vendors in the late past. OldWillKnott on ebay has great prices! I hope others read this so they will know where to get a nice high capacity scale for a really good price. Thanks again!
  20. Hello, My computer is running really slow today for some reason. I hope the antivirus program is doing its job. Well my hubby said that it is an Ultraship. He won't tell me where online he got it from (he thinks I'll continue to ask him to buy more things. And I will ), but that he purchased it with shipping for under $35.:highfive: My hubby is so cheap, he'd have everyone and their momma looking for the item to see who comes up with the cheapest price. I may think I have a really good price and he'd find it for even cheaper, be it $1 or $0.50. :laugh2: We've been looking for soap cutters (really dough cutters) he took me to the Home Depot and my eyes popped. Seeing that he's in construction, I told him to ask the drywallers for a few spackle knives. In the meantime, I'm going to the restaurant supply house to look for the dough cutters. So I guess I won't be doing the soapmaking tonight after all. When I do, I will have the pictures posted. M&M
  21. Good Morning CareBear, I bugged him when he came in about the scale. He said that it reads in .1 oz increments until about 50 lbs then it reads in .2 oz increments. So I had to wake him, and let him know that I need another scale in addition to the one he purchased. Thanks for responding, I'm usually not up as late as I was last night (got school age children). We're going to get the smaller scale and thermometer. I'll be making my first batch of CP soap this afternoon. I'm using the tutorial's recipe for this batch. My Grandma told me that she and her mother used to make soap many ions ago. She said they didn't have all this "fancy stuff" for soapmaking. I'll be checking in soon. Off to make breakfast for the kids. Hope your day starts off well! M&M
  22. Thanks Guys, I just got back in the house. Thanks for the welcome! I'm so looking forward to this new adventure of soap making. The creative side of it seems endless. By the was my hubby left me a letter and said he found a postal scale that has a 75 lb capacity. He didn't say what brand or how much, but he usually gets high quality things for reasonable prices. I'll have to ask him when he comes in from work. Now I just have to wait for the scale to arrive and get the thermometer.:whoohoo: I have to go to storage and look for the digital camera, I accidentally packed it away.:embarasse I'm not that computer or digital savvy, but I want to be able to post pictures of the items I produce (be it bad or good). So, whether he likes it or not, my hubby is gonna post the first pictures until I get the hang of it. This soaping community has been by far the most homey and informative. As I stated before, I am so grateful to have found CraftServer. Everyone have a pleasant night! Sweet Dreams! M&M
  23. Hello Everyone, I'm new to soapmaking and would like to thank CraftServer for pushing violently to stepping in it. I've always wanted to make soap from scratch, but I was afraid of the lye thingy:embarasse. I'm so glad I found this set of forums. My questions are: Where can I find a stainless steel digital thermometer with the long cord, like a meat thermometer? And, What's a good scale to use for soapmaking? Keeping in mind that I plan on doing this, like, forever:grin2:. My husband is all for it. We just picked up everything but the soap slicer, thermometer, scale and mold (but, I'll be using a shoebox until then). Anyway, any suggestions? M&M
