  1. No you can not learn artistic or be taught it. It has to be a natural thing that you are good at. You either have it or you don't. It still can be very mind frustrating though. I can take 1 look at a booth in a show or look at the labels on the jars and know instantly she needs to hire a professional to help her out. And there is no shame in that at all. We are all made up differently. Trappeur
  2. Its a very popular style wick so just google and shop around for the best pricing....lots of suppliers have that wick.
  3. It sure doesn't hurt to have options....the more you have, the better. Trappeur
  4. Here is a prime example of how I think some companies make on shipping 2 weeks ago I ordered all the colored canning jar lids from Filmore for a presentation and then I realized I never ordered the yellow lid they have in their line of lids. I have a presentation next week that I need a yellow lid to go on one of the candles. I called Fillmore and told the girl there what happened and asked if she could help me out and slip the 1 tin lid in an envelop and send to me. Well long story short, we went round and round and the shipping for 1 lid was 20.00 and change! I told her there was no way I was going to pay 20.00 to ship out a lid and even when she offered me a 5.00 discount on shipping like they offer that at times I still wasn't going to pay 15.00! She explained to me it has to packaged a certain way and she didn't want the lid to get damaged or anything. I even said that if it did get dinged or what ever, it wouldn't bother me as it was for a presentation only. If she couldn't send out in an envelope, she could have put in a padded envelope and ship out. Come on, there are many companies that would have charged me maybe 4,5 or 6.00 to ship out 1 stinking lid, but nope it just wasn't going to happen here. Now I don't like to knock any companies, but you tell me how realistic is this? huh?...Fillmore is a wonderful company and I have nothing but good to say about them. Customer service, shipping and products are awesome and I love all about them but lets call a spade a spade! I was not a happy camper. So long story short I found and ordered on Etsy the yellow lids and ordered 6 of them and even with shipping and cost of goods, I got them for $6.00 and change being delivered to me.....Sorry Fillmore, I hated to bring this up, but I feel this couldn't have been justified. 5. Hi CandleRush! Do you blend the 2 of the waxes together? If you do, are you finding you have better throw with a blend versus just 464? Thanks! Trappeur
  6. Your adding your oil at too low a temperature. I would change that to 175-180 And 464 needs a 2 week cure, minimum. Trappeur
  7. Hello and welcome Sheree... You did a perfect awesome job in making that candle. Doesn't come any better than what you did! So what procedure did you do when you made the candle and what scent did you do? Awesome job! DO let that jar sit 2 weeks curing b/4 you burn it. Yes, that is a wet spot on your candle and there is not a thing you can do about it. You have to accept it. I wouldn't even waste one minute worrying or trying to think you can remedy that. No one will ever say a word about it. I use that wax and sell to shops for years now and no one has ever said one thing, so don't even worry 1 sec about it. Great job! Trappeur
  8. Well delivered today another surprise Easter collection to a little country store account I have a couple miles from my hose and they loved them. As I was standing there a customer had 3 candles in her arms that she was buying. When she got to the front desk/checkout she saw the Easter collection that was just placed on the counter and bought 2 of them too..I feel so good to say that this customer said she comes to Georgia a few times a year and rents a cabin and always buys my candles as she said they burn so beautiful and she brings them back to her home in California. So she bought 5 candles and was thrilled. Here are pictures of this Easter collection. Had I thought quick enough I should have bought all the colored lids from Fillmore but I forgot to order them and had to do something else. The black lids which I use all the time and of which I have plenty of stock, well the black i didn't care for on these spring candles so I wound up using the 2 piece canning jar lids that come with the candles. They are the gold. So the jars are done with the gold lids and I put a gold stretch bow around the neck of the jars. Not bad looking....not my real choice but they are done and delivered. I did 4 scents: 1 in my blend of Pineapple Cilantro and marshmallow, another scent in Orange Cranberry Crumble, another scent in Monkey Farts and another one in Banana Nut Bread. Thanks for looking......................Trappeur THIS IS WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE THE CANDLES IN WITH THE COLORED LIDS BUT I FORGOT TO ORDER.. I BROUGHT THEM IN A BASKET FOR PRESENTATION BUT WOUND UP LEAVING THE BASKET THERE.
  9. I love the idea so much of the silver lids so that is what I will do my sample for, for my presentation to the store. I have a big account another apple orchard that I use the black lids on the canning jar and I don't want the same look for this store so the silver would be beautiful. The silver zinc lid would be beautiful...so that is what I will do. Trappeur
  10. I see your in Atlanta YellowButterfly....I'm north of you in Blue Ridge right above Ellijay....how cool.... Trappeu
  11. Yes YellowButterfly, I really like the idea of the silver lid like you suggested... Thankou! Trappeur
  12. Thankyou so much everyone for all of your choices. Seems like everyone is leaning towards 1 and 4....Now this is so weird. I thought for sure being that this type of store is very very country with plaids, checks and things like that which #2 label was like that look but no one has picked that label here. I thought for sure people would be picking out that label....hmmmmm I wonder why? This really has me stumped....but that's ok... Trappeur
  13. Wow, it's bad enough you have a 1212 in that jar as that is a big wick but going to the larges wick out there the 1312 now that's a torch! What jar is that? Do you have any other style wicks? Wish I could help more as I use 464.....Surely someone will come along who uses palm and make some suggestions. How is the throw on that scent? What scent are you using? Trappeur
  14. Me too.....I've never smelled a thing when I make clamshells. Trappeur
  15. What sounds nicer on the label? Should the label say just "Natural Soy" or should it say "Natural Soy Candle"? Trappeur
  16. Thankyou Awni. I did the candles in some of her top selling scents so they are well proven sellers. I did 12 of them in Island Pineapple (is really Pineapple Cilantro from Flaming) and 12 of them in Lemon Verbena from Flaming also. I wholesaled them to her for 9.50 a jar which she thought was cheap.... Trappeur
  17. Hi there! Nice job burning.....to me it looks like is 3/4 of the way burned..is it? Very pretty color also. When you say you did 2 different long burns, what does that mean? Different days and how many hours did you burn I would say next tester to go up a size in wick. Trappeur
  18. Well, I'm back from town and made the delivery to her. She loved the candles and took them all! She even asked if I would leave the basket there just the way I had them presented to her so I did and I'll get the basket back later. Thankyou everyone for the beautiful comments. I get the labels from Zazzle Karin. Trappeur
  19. Headed out the door to deliver candles as a surprise to the owner of the shop in town. I took a few pictures. A couple inside and then ran outside and stuck them in my flowers I have to plant. I really like how they came out with the silver zinc lid. I'll be wholesaling these to her for either 9.00 or 9.50 a jar. I'll think about it on my drive into town. I set them up in a basket of which I have burlap and lace in it to hold the candles with a glitzy floral/vine to give the whole look a somewhat springy look. Trappeur
  20. Belinda I use for my go to pine scent "Christmas Tree" which is the only truest Balsam Fir out there. Close to 15 years now. Nutmeg and Ginger I also use that.....Is WONDERFUL! Iced Lemon Biscotti - you have to GET THAT! OH my! Warm Caramel Vanilla. I think Candybee recommended that in a post I saw here one day so I ordered it and made a 3 wick candle a couple weeks ago for a tester. I know it's ready to burn, so I'll burn that when I come back from town. Orange Creamsicle is a huge huge seller for me! They are my go to on this scent! Is awesome! I just got some Fresh Rain a couple weeks ago and made up candles for an account...is ok and a good thrower but I don't think I'll get again...Just not really was I was expecting. French Vanilla - oh my what a thrower! Is wonderful! Mulberry Bush I have samples I need to now test that are ready...smells really potent and nice! Warm Apple Pie now this is really nice but didn't throw that great for me but when I mixed with Pie Crust it turned into an awesome Dutch Apple Pie that I love. Pumpkin Souffle is pretty nice. Daffodil is awesome! I mix it with Fresh Cut Grass and call it "Who cut the grass".....lol It's great alone too. Trappeur
  21. I can see this is going to be a toughy picking out a few labels to make up for a presentation as looks like there is going to be mixed reviews. Well anyway, please keep the posts coming and lets see which ones win out. Trappeur
