  1. Any ideas why my bath fizzy powder is becoming rock hard in a container? I am using baking soda, citric acid, kaolin clay, borax, color and fragrance. Could it be the moisture from the liquid color and fo? Maybe I should try mica powder to cut down on the liquid? Anyone have a better recipe that will not become a solid mass? I searched here and did not find one. Thank you all!
  2. I forgot to ask, do you have a website? I would love to see your candles.
  3. First, congrats on them being interested in your products! Woo hoo!!! Just curious, did they come to you? You may want to check out Buy A Bar Code.com. They have bar codes for as low as a $65 one time registration and $35 a bar code. Bar codes emailed to you to print within 24 hours and everything! I have read multiple good things about them, there are many reputable members of the Indie Beauty Network who use them. Good luck!
  4. Anyone recommend it? Can you describe it for me? Would you suggest it for a baby or childs scent? Not to exceed specific FO amounts of course. If you have any other suggestions for a light baby scent that is not a baby powder type scent, I would appreciate it. Thanks! eta: I am looking for a fresh or fruity scent. I do not like chamomile or lavender.
  5. I decided to go with Beneath The Stars! I cant wait to smell it!
  6. Those sound much more like what I am looking for. Thank you, I will go and check them out.
  7. I am looking for a fragrance oil that makes you think of stars in the sky, fantasy, a magical scent...think wishes, hopes and dreams. I want something light, perhaps fruity but nothing earthy or sandalwood type of scents. I would like for it to be truly unique, so I may need to combine scents. Its for some bath salts. Any suggestions? edited: Has anyone tried Natures Garden Gods Love? (The ozony aroma of soft baby powder with just the right amount of ripened sweet mulberries.) I am a bit unsure of the baby powder description, although the reviews are good, they say it smells like punch. What about Heaven? (An ozony aroma combining the softness of baby powder with base notes of sweet pears and peaches.)
  8. Congratulations! You should be very proud of yourself! Keep up the good work!
  9. Can you post a picture here or a link to your site so we can see the sort of candles you are referring to?
  10. I am getting page cannot be displayed for all of the links supplied here and when I simply go to your home page as well. I am assuming that you are working on the problems, but I thought I would go ahead and let you know. I hope you get things fixed soon, I know how frustrating these sorts of things can be! (((Hugs)))
  11. The only thing I might consider changing is the speed of the applet you are using if at all possible. Just so the viewer can look at the picture a tiny bit longer. Your products look very nice.
  12. You definitely want to add keywords and description tags into your html. Whoever designed the site for you should have done that. Its fairly easy to do yourself. I do not think it is affecting your sales, but I found it a bit unusual that you had a bible quote on your site. This *could* potentially affect sales if someone is not religious. I have nothing against it personally but I thought I would mention it. Your site looks nice and you have some great products. I would consider possibly some larger pictures though. Good luck with your biz, I do think it has a lot to do with the economy. edited: You can also add a site map to Google which will help in SEO.
  13. Looks great! Does it smell like Coca Cola as well?
  14. It appears that you removed the website links? I would love to see both sites.
  15. Its just adorable! Love it. Simple. Great job!
  16. The site looks great, Congrats! Just a couple of things. I would suggest you consider an About Us page to add some of that text on the main page to. Honestly I would probably not take the time to read it, I want to see products front and center. Perhaps offer a special and your featured product? Not sure if you like PayPal but you can have a shopping cart up and running from them in no time at all. Its very simple to set up. The black bold text is kind of harsh. I would probably make it a bit smaller and consider another font but thats just MHO. If you do change fonts, remember the simpler the better and that it needs to be a "standard" font so it will be viewable by everyone. I tried to click on your pictures too. Maybe just make them a bit larger, add some accessories to jazz them up a bit. Good luck with your biz!
  17. I just replied to your topic in another section of this board in regard to your labels. I really do hope that you consider what many have said in regard to the branding of your product. The name needs to match the image and most of us just dont think the black is working for you. It is modern in compared to your relatively simple and country type name. The logo on your site is somewhat large and the background is very very bright. I would consider changing it. Because you are reasonably new to this business, I thought I would make a couple of suggestions, if you have not already done so, make sure that you have met regulations in regard to producing your products. There are so many business aspects to consider as far as business licensing, llc, fda requirments, insuranc, taxes, marketing and so much more. As long as you continue to ask opinions and can accept the response that you get, you will do just fine. You really need to be open to what others are saying without feeling like they are assaulting you. Again, good luck.
  18. I played around with your image a little just changing it to white background w/black writing (hope you dont mind-I really agree with what everyone else has said. As nice as it looks overall, its just hard for some people to read. So here it is, a slight black border (not particularly even since it was a quick job), a peach border around the peach pic and the barcode taken out. Just another hint, I know you probably dont want to re-do your labels since you have already put so much work into them, but they will print so much better if they are done at a 300 dpi (your image was done at 72 dpi (otherwise you may see bleeding of colors, especially wth the black and have issues with clarity when printing) Trust me, I have been there! Gosh I just cant tell you enough how much I like the way it looks with a white background. I think it represents your name Southern Scents so much better. As someone else mentioned, its kind of like that website you stumble upon that has a black background and white writing. It is so hard to read. I sort of think blue and white country when I think of Southern Scents, although that may not be the image you wanted, its what I "see." I hope you do great with your biz!
  19. Anyone have a good bath syrup recipe? I would like to have a thicker type of syrup. I found a formula that just uses glycerin, Jojoba and castor oil. Would I have to use castor oil? I understand that castor oil has a horrible smell and is hard to cover up. Any ideas? All I really want is a really thick bubble bath more or less. eta: I found that I could use polysorbate 80 instead. Any other thoughts on a how to make a thick bath syrup?
  20. Just have a quick question for now about using Micas in Whipped Shea Butter, would that work? I am looking to color my shea butter but I really do not want to use FD&C colors and want organic coloring. I have done a search here and came up empty, hope you can help!
