  1. Holy Cow, thanks for the heads up, Brad. So, I guess people will start hoarding now...just like "rice." It never ends!
  2. macaroni.....you've had it...with the Advanced?? Me too.....am going to use up what I have here in FL, and Maine too. You're right - the CO helps this "very last" Advanced stuff.
  3. Macaroni & Cheese....on the Advanced you ordered from CS recently, I got mine around Jan.9th, Lot# 7324189016 12:08 and 12:06. I'm having troubles too, did you get this same lot#? Don't expect any answers from Dr.Al or CS....this is my 3rd bad batch in that many years.
  4. Hi Carol....I thought you were talking just Tennessee....and the hair on the back of my neck stood straight out!!! lol I see that you did mention other un-named suppliers....when I re-read your post. Guess I can relax now, have a sip of tea...and wait for my blood pressure to drop. lol
  5. I think it MIGHT be your nose. I use CB-Advanced at 9% and the Tennessee Amish Harvest, Blackberry Sage, Blue Himalayan Poppy, Carribbean Holiday, Christmas Splendor, Cinnamon Bread Pudding, Warm Orange Gingerbread, Lavender Milk, Spiced Apples & Peaches and that new Pumpkin Souffle is to die for. They work like a demon in my - diffucult to get a super cold and hot throw soy...of choice. There are other good oils he has - but I don't have my notes at hand. Have you tried any of those oils?? I think Tennessee is right up there being one of my favorite suppliers.
  6. I use Ecosoya CB-Advanced - and the absolutely best Key Lime Pie I have ever used is from BCN. It is to die for...and works like a charm in the Adv. It's as strong as Creme Brulee - and is right on the button. I'm in Florida - and Key Lime Pie is a biggie down here. It's expensive - but oh so worth it. BCN discontinued it for a while - but brought it back because so many people begged for it - including me.
  7. and................DO NOT FORGET...........to order the Curve-for men, and Tin Star. They are awesome , different --and they sell well. They work great in CB-Advanced.
  8. Wildfire has an awesome Razzies & Cream that is also superb in Soy. Best I've ever tried - I've stopped searching now.
  9. it's Tennessee Candle all the way for Lovespell - tried 4 others before I found this one, tis not only an exact dupe - but it is wicked strong.....in soy. He has other wondrous oils too.
  10. just wanted you guys to know that her Vanilla Bean Noel is to die for.....the best ever. Don't want to mention her other fo's yet - because she will kill me!! lol and her scents work just super in soy, I still use the Ecosoya Advanced - and ya know how picky that is!!! Oh....and order way more than you think you will need, because you will go thru it FAST!!!
  11. Crafter - put Macintosh Apple (from Peaks) on your list, it is truly amazing. I use 100% soy and this one only needs a 2 or 3 day cure - if that!!! There are just a few oils that are like this - Mac Apple is totally awesome.
  12. Peak's Juicy Pineapple is amazingly strong in soy - very true fo!
  13. oh thank you for making my day, that is so funny. And....... we are all so proud of you! lol
  14. I'm sorry, FernMarie and Siberia, I just checked the CS site and they only have the original CBA listed - and it's out of stock too. Now - don't panic..........but I went back to the original version after only going thru 60 # of the Adv.2 version. I like it better again - only thing is the long cure time - but no other problems, and that's saying something! Sorry this happened to you in busy-busy time!!
  15. 3 weeks ago - Candle Science in NC still had both versions.
  16. BCN Apples-N-Oak type works for me with the Advanced, I just love that scent anyway. Almost every single fo from Scents For Soy works well for me too.
  17. I finally broke down and ordered the new version and some palm stearic - 2 days later they announce that version 2 is being phased out. It arrived yesterday....talk about waiting til the last minute. Foiled again!!!! Wonder what they will call the new one........and how we can be sure we are getting "the latest." By the time I reorder who knows what version they will be on. I did like the original though - wanted it to work soooooooo bad, and eventually I was happy with it. Except..could not work with it in the summer humidity. Since we are heading for Florida in 3 1/2 weeks...wonder if it is "workable" there.
  18. well, I sure agree about our henryk being such a valuable asset. He helped me so much when I was a timid soy beginner. Someone posted a long long time ago - on some board...that a heat gun is your best friend. I snickered a bit at the time - but now leave mine plugged in all the time and ready to use. It's on the bathroom counter and maybe guests think I have gone way overboard with hairdryers. lol I'm still using the last of my 100 # of the old version of CBA - have decided I am sticking with it and will re-order , since I have only 7# left. I know everyone had a problem with the scent throw with this version, but I have been having such good luck with 90% of the Scents For Soy oils that I use and some WYW oils too. Have tested the heck out of the CD wicks now too and will be sticking with those too. Shipping prices are just horrendous - they make me gulp - so, am going to be ordering much closer to home now. (Maine)
  19. ok - that does it henryk....lol.....am ordering the new tomorrow, can't put it off any longer. I even have some stearic acid on hand from a year ago - never knew exactly why I bought that!!
  20. thank you Henry and kerry and everyone. I Have lots of lake cottage company and won't get back to my testing til next week. Will certainly try pouring at 130 and lower too. I poured a SFS carmel pecan pie at 9% that needed no curing - just totally - filled the whole cottage with the cold throw. Was just amazed. Burned it on day 3 and it was still just awesome. No seepage, no cracks - but there is a slight dimple - very very tiny - near the wick. the tester I used was a 6oz. tin with an htp wick. I use cotton wicks exclusively - but am currently testing the cd wicks too. Am really really close to ordering the new and improved ADV, but have been figuring that if I can't repeat my ADV success from last December....I don't "deserve" the new yet - vbg. thanx again everyone...........
  21. I have been waiting for your comparison results. If a glossy top is "doable" at 115 degrees pouring - guess I will have to try that too. Arrrrgh!! The awful humidity is unbearable here - can't attempt any candles. The other day I did find an FO that I did at 9% that did not need any cure time at all. Am still using the old version of the CB-ADV. But this batch is the 2nd order I rec'd. in mid-May. Wonder if there was a change from the Dec. batch . I've been thinking of trying blends too (might be just a passing thought brought on by the humidity), have never made anything but soy so far----and that's only with your guidance , Henry...and an allelulia for this board too.
  22. I'm also determined to make the CBAdv. work - and haven't made any candles in a little more than 3 weeks. Didn't have candle withdrawal til today, since we have been inundated with company and the humidity can't get any worse. Am on my last 15# of the old ADV - and have been sort of agonizing over ordering 100# of the new improved version and will then just bite down on the bullet and MAKE IT WORK!!! My central AC is on so hi that my DH has a fleece vest on....am forcing in house humidity down to 50%----will test that humidity percentage again to see if I can get the glossy tops. I will not give up on the ADV - will not-will not!! Well, that's my mantra today anyway. Henry, did you say the new ADV. flakes feel oily?
  23. henryk, I am still using the old Advanced - didn't order the new one yet.Decided to order when the weather cools a tad. I had a problem with the surface cracks and dimples around the wick - pretty much like your picture. Don't know if this is a real solution - but I forced myself to pour much slower ....and the cracking seemed to improve. I pour at 150, was pouring lower (135)...when I had the problem with streaky -cloudy tops. Had to reread my notes from last December when I first tested the ADV...and the 150 temp works for me, gives the glossy smooth as glass top. The humidity in the house is playing havoc with my candlemaking now. Have been paying attention to that, found that 50-55% humidity (in the cottage - with AC on)....works well - but anything over that makes everything "iffie." Humidity level in the cottage has been way over 55 for 2 whole weeks now. It's been 78% all day, sigh - candle stuff is being shoved to the back of the kitchen utility closet. Sort of like when I used to make peanut brittle for xmas gifts - had to cook that at the right dewpoint.Gosh Almighty - who knew sooooooo much chemistry was involved?
