  1. Hi poohbaby. I actually was having this happen to my electric candles. I would add UV inhibitor to the wax, thinking it would keep my candles from turning yellow. However, they still did. When I did some asking around, it was recommended not to add the UV Inhibitor to it. Since I quit adding it, my candles have stayed whiter. I have also found that sometimes certain fragrance oils cause the discoloring. HTH.
  2. Thanks for all the info! I have never cut the soap open. I have another bar of this soap. I am very interested to see if that bar leaves the waxy feel at the end. Thanks again.
  3. Any recommendations? I just had a customer request that fragrance. TIA!
  4. Since you are on the CC topic, how is the CC Scent Event Grape Bordeaux? Does it smell like grape? (I just had a customer call requesting a grape smell! Ugh!) TIA!
  5. Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, lard, Soybean Oil, sodium hydroxide, water, fragrance And this feeling only occurs at the end of the bar of soap.
  6. I just remembered where an unused bar was....and lard is an ingredient. I guess that would cause it????
  7. I have no idea. Some I have purchased for resale, others just for myself. I do know that one supplier's I use is all natural...no beeswax, I know, and I don't get that feeling. I am assuming that beeswax could do this? That would make sense. But why would the waxy feeling not occur until the bar is very small?
  8. I do not make soap, but use handmade soaps all of the time. I have noticed that some bars, when getting to the end of the bar, tends to feel waxy and our softened water will actually "bead up" on my skin. Just wondering if anyone knows what causes this. It does not happen all of the time. TIA.
  9. I think it depends on the actual Chamber. I don't belong to the one in my town. I used to, but chose not to rejoin, as the benefits were less than the cost. And they were always calling for money. I do belong to two other chambers of neighboring cities. One costs $100 per year, the other $92 per year. I recoup all of that money plus after I do one bulk mailing through them. And as many have said before me, the networking is (or can be) great.
  10. Just a warning.... I bought 3 new 10 x 10 EZ Ups last year for our outside shows...and the tops all leak--even with condensation! At one show, I opened up the sides only to reveal to my horror that all of my items were soaked! I have contacted EZ Up and they are supposed to send me three new tops...which have been on back order for over 2 months! Apparently, when they bought this batch of fabric or had the roofs made, it was a very bad batch. I have heard numerous complaints from crafters. I am located in MO. So hopefully other areas are okay. Just may want to test the tent with a hose before a show. I know I am going to do that with these "new" ones!!
  11. I at one time had inquired about one of several I had received. The cost was in the thousands of dollars; I had to go to FL or CA (can't remember now....both were far from MO). And the tv time was only 30 - 60 seconds. Needless to say, I chose not to pursue further, as the cost factor was outrageous.
  12. Not sure what type of decal paper you are using, as there are many kinds. However, when I put one on a candle, I rub from the middle outward with firm, but gentle, pressure using a soft cloth. I then spray a coating on some of them after they dry for 24 hrs.
  13. From my experience, RA not only takes extra time, but the duplication part is not very exact. Of approx. 6 oils I sent to them, ZERO were matching scents. I have the feeling that unless I wanted to order 25# or more of the matching scent, they were just going to smell my samples and pick what they had closest to match from their shelves. Good luck!
  14. I ordered online with no difficulties. I have done business in the past with Tracy at the Creative Concept and can vouch for her honesty and integrity. If they said there was a problem on their website, they were being legit. I received my copy yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.
  15. I use the same lady for my shirts, labels, promotional pieces, etc. She is located in Missouri. However, I hardly ever see her in person. We do most of our biz online and over the phone. I highly recommend her. She is very thorough and dependable. Her name is Sandi with P.S. Enterprises. Her number is 636-583-8992 or email psent @ fidnet.com (without the spaces.) HTH. Feel free to pm me with any questions.
  16. Awhile back I had gone together with another candle maker (Southern Candle Supplies) and we purchased a large quantity of Patchouli. :embarasse Dumb on my part I did not find out from where this large quantity came. I guess the company went out of business, as the phone numbers have been disconnected and they are not returning emails. So.... I am now on the search for a "TRUE" patchouli fragrance. I have smelled many that are mixed, floral, powdery. But none that I care for like this last batch, which I have no idea the source. If anyone has any good leads on a supplier that sells a true smelling patchouli, please feel free to email me or send a pm. Thanks for any and all assistance.:smiley2:
  17. Anyone know what happened to them? I know they are temporarily closed for business...just wondering how long they have been closed and if anyone knows if they will be opening soon. I have a couple of oils which I have searched for a long time to match and she had them. Now I need more and UGH! Anyone know of exact dupes for Willowwoods Christmas Wreath and Amish Carrot Cake? TIA.
  18. Has anyone had any success with achieving the mottled look of a votive preblend like IGI 4794? TIA:embarasse
  19. I have used them to make "candle shop" candles. I would pour my left over votive wax (or you can use container wax). Each one would be layered with different colors and fragrances and was unique. I had people ordering them before I had a chance to get them made! HTH Kerri stclaircandlelady
  20. What about a hardware store? Maybe they have "caps" or something like it. Kerri stclaircandlelady
