  1. I love Asian Amber but it is a tough one to wick without soot. I had fairly good luck with a 62C (cotton core) wick, but I did get a little soot which I don't like so I'm using this scent for melts and wickless only now.
  2. General Wax in North Hollywood carries candle glass.
  3. the poppy jar actually says it's etched glass, don't know if they all are, but they are sure beautiful!
  4. You know, as a newbie to this forum (not to candle making) and user of C3 I really appreciate those who post their experiences about the product and candlemaking in general. For those that continuously find it necessary to make fun of people and posts, you should find something better to do with your time. Remember what goes around, comes around and it will come back to slap you in the face some day.
  5. You do know that anything you put on your business info with the state or county is a matter of public records? I doubt that the post cards came from public records because it looks like many states have been hit..that looks more like a major supplier selling the info or teaming up and trading lists with another vendor. Just consider all the junk mail you get as soon as you file your paperwork with the state. Also...some insurance companies sell listings of their clients (I worked for one that did!) If you don't want this to happen, you need to read that fine print on every doc or every website you order from...usually in Terms & Conditions or under Privacy Policy.
  6. I think it's great that you are putting this info on your website. As a consumer, you have the "choice" to read it or not. I for one learned alot from reading this and I've been working with soy (for pleasure) for 5+ years. (I'm also a proofreader so check your spelling before posting it...I should talk here, I usually post before I read my own typing and I don't type with correct spelling)
  7. I'd be afraid my guys would eat them! they almost ate clamshells the first time they saw them-they thought it was white chocolate!
  8. Maybe I used a wick that was too big for my container and that's why it smoked? Are any of you using C3 wax with Eco wicks? I think I want to give them a try again! Thanks ladies!
  9. I use C3 as well. The lady that taught me to make candles said she always poked her holes after the candles set up, so that's the way I've always done them. No I don't sell my candles to the public. My family and friends pay for the supplies I used to make them, or I give them as gifts. I honestly haven't had any problem with poking after set except that you can sometimes see where one or more holes were (like I stated before, they are full of wax.) I'll try disturbing the candle as the wax is setting up and see if I notice a difference. Other than burning it, if you are not making the holes after it sets, how do you know if you got them all? I can easily feel when I poke the holes where a pocket is if there is one.
  10. Tim, Does that mean that P1 will no longer be available after the release of the new P's?
  11. I quit using V1 for that very reason. Actually I quit making votives. Since I don't sell, I can buy soy votives cheap enough. I was tired of having to mess with V1. I use C3 for containers, but it always bothered me that the votive wax was so bad in comparison. I saw your thread Violet, didn't see a reply as of yesterday, I'm going to keep checking it.
  12. Once in a while one of my candles will have an air pocket that becomes noticable on the first burn. I heat gun the tops, but don't do 2nd pours cuz I'm terrible at them (they separate every time regardless of temp). I read on here to poke holes around the wick and then heatgun to let the wax fill the air pockets and the hole you make...well I tried that and as it burns you can see where I made the holes (it looks filled in with wax, but you can see where the holes were on the first burn.) Any other suggestions...or do you all just live with an occasional air pocket?
  13. I don't sell candles, but have been making wickless for some time. My family and friends all have refresher oils for their wickless from me. What I tell them is when you turn it off and it hardens if you see ANY oil on top, don't use it anymore, simply throw it away and start with a fresh candle. We usually can refresh 2-3 times before throwing it away, which makes these wickless last over 3 months the way we use them. I don't think I'd trust a customer to listen to this, but if your thinking for yourself I don't see why not.
  14. I'm new to this board, stumbled upon it and I've been browsing for a couple of weeks now. I can't seem to find what I'm looking for so decided to sign up and ask the question. I've been making soy candles for about 5 years now, way back in the beginning I tested ECO wicks in C3 wax as I heard they were soy coated and thought they might be better to use in soy. Back then, the Eco wicks smoked badly and was wondering if anyone here that uses them in soy noticed the same thing? I'm now using cotton wicks or CD wicks with a few fragrances and while they are working fine I seem to remember really loving the way the Eco's burned. Maybe they've improved the Eco's in the past 4 years? I think I tested almost every wick they make at one time...Thanks for any info.
