  1. I would also like to know how this wax will hold FO. J223 is my container wax of choice, but if this new container wax is as good and gets rid of the wet spots...HUMMMMMM Let us know what you come up with. Oh, yeah, thanks for your review.
  2. LX wicks all the way. At least for anything over 5 or 6 oz. I use zinc core wicks for the 4oz tins tho.
  3. Debscent, We seem to be getting an error while trying to look at the pics in the Gallery. Pleasse check on this.
  4. PLEASE don't let her know you said she is smart!!! I'll never hear the end of it...LOL You can get these blanks at: http://www.oakcourtcreations.com/
  5. Welcome to the Board. Always glad to see someone else getting addicted!
  6. Remember the little pine trees made from paper that hang from the mirror? There are places you can get the blanks and add your own FO to them. Not just pine trees, but many shapes. toddsmom (djscent on the old board) said she was going to start making them soon too. (I'm Todd by the way, and yeah, she's my mom)
  7. Well, I have used J223 ever since I got tired of doing repours with 4786 and have been happy ever since. I see no reason to change my wax for my containers yet. Thanks for this post...been thinking of trying J50, but since seeing this... no reason to now. Looks like I went with the best choice with J223. (nothing against J50 users, so please don't take offense)
  8. I use 4785 wax that I have left over from dipping bears. I strain it first tho because of the few hairs left in it, but tarts are the best use I've found for the leftovers. Always makes a white tart, but with the proper packaging poeple like it that way. These are becoming very popular and it's getting hard to have enough supply for the demand right now. I guess I'll have to start making tarts out of "new" wax soon. Don't you hate that for me? LOL
  9. Yeah, I agree with everyone that this FO smells exactly like leather. I sell a few and use 1 brown chip Per-Lb wax. I seem to sell most of mine by special order without a wick. People like to place them in their car so it will smell new again. Been thinking of making some air fresheners with this fo to hang from the mirror. I think this would do good too.
  10. Ok fess up... Who's the supplier and where are they at? I live in Tennessee and Georgia? is just a hop-skip-and jump from here. I use 4786 for wax dipped bears and would love to get my hands on a pallet or two @ $20 a case. Wet spots are a problem with this wax as it has BIG shrink to it as it cools. But as for the bears... they don't seem to mind the shrinkage Scent throw is usually good too. HTH
  11. "Can I re-use the 8 oz. tins? If so, what is the best way to clean them out? Perhaps a heat gun?" Yes, you can reuse the tins. I reuse them all the time when testing a new FO or wax. Actually I only use 4oz tins, the same principle applies. I clean them by placing them in the oven that is set to the lowest setting, which on mine is warm. Then dump the wax and wipe with paper towles. The leftovers are good to use in tealights if you have enough. "Can the tins be used on those candle warmers?" By all means. As long as the base of the tin doesn't exceed the diameter of the warmer. I make the 4oz tins without wicks for some of my customers just for this purpose. The flash point is for the vapor of the FO. Im not sure of the process it would take to vaporize the FO to a point to make it hit it's flash point. I use only Peaks FO's and I used 4786 (before I found J223) and never had a problem using any FO they sell. As for the gas stove... Just keep all your FO's away from the flame. Don't let them sit or spill anywhere near it and you should be fine. Remember to keep enough water in your double boiler because it's a very bad idea to heat wax and FO with direct heat. Oh yeah, and these were not stupid questions. You have to ask to learn some things. They say there are no stupid questions....I beg to differ. Talk to my children for an hour or so and they will prove that wrong!
  12. That's too funny. I also thought they were for tapers. It never occured to me that you were talking about something that would hold a tealight. I also seemed to have "assumed" LOL
  13. I have found a few of these for you. If you want to look for more search for "metal candle insert" and weed through the results. I know you said you didn't want the hole at the bottom, but this looks to be standard. http://www.bayerwood.com/search_results1.php?catID=40&mode=category http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Brass-Candle-inserts-holders-woodturning-wood-turning_W0QQitemZ8208447525QQcategoryZ3126QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Brass-Insert-For-Candle-Sticks-Cups-Fits-1-2-Hole_W0QQitemZ8161479419QQcategoryZ71178QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/100-Candle-Cups-Brass-Inserts-29-32-Woodworking_W0QQitemZ8206825301QQcategoryZ3131QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://www.loudavis.com/product.asp?sku=3877&id=05032657241761147021167 http://www.howee.com/shop/index.php?action=item&id=159&prevaction=search&previd=&prevstart=0 http://www.ceramicdecorandmore.com/supply/candle/ HTH
