  1. Would like to hear from anyone who has used this in soy (I use ecosoya). What do you think??? I am addicted to the fragrance and would love to carry it in my candle line. Thanks! Kim
  2. I use CB Adv for my containers and CB 135 for my tealights. Always have and am very happy with them both. The Adv is nice and smooth looks great in the jars with good adhesion. The CB 135 I only use for tealights, I do not like it in jars. No adhesion and it is a bit chalky. The only other one I have tried was Millenium and I hated it!! Kim
  3. Hi Pam: The problems you speak of are exactly why I sold all my wick pins!! LOL. I used to tap the bottom gently (with a meat tenderizer of all things!) and darn near 1/2 of them would lose their bottoms. I don't use them anymore, I simply place them all myself and stand there readjusting until they are firm. A little more work in the beginning but no repouring!! Kim www.Kimdles.com
  4. I use only HTP 73 and HTP 83's. I may get some slight hang up on the first 3hour burn, but subsequent burns always take it down. I am getting about 18 hours for my 2oz votives.
  5. I tried this combo at the beginning of the year and wasn't thrilled with my results. Although my tops were relatively smooth, I didn't like the contracting I was getting. It made the jars look bad....so I went back to straight CBA and am much happier! HTH Kim
  6. I visited a potential wholesale customer once and although she did purchase candles wholesale, she asked me numerous times about making candles as she thought it was something she would like to do herself. I just felt very weird. Kim
  7. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, my soy wax here in Canada is $96.00 for a 50# case (was $89.00)....Palm is $95.00 for a 50# case....I can only pray ours doesn't double!! I hear you on the gas issue , our gas is $1.06 a litre which equals roughly $4.00 a gallon! This is crazy!! Kim
  8. I started testing CB135 at the beginning of this year and was so disappointed with the look of the wax (pulling away from and sticking to the jar) that I went back to CBA and am MUCH happier!! Kim
  9. Faith: Check out the manufacturers website www.ngiwax.com. It has everything you need to know about this wax. You can even ask them specific questions. HTH Kim
  10. Luckily, my supplier is only an hour and a half away, so I go up every so often and load up the van!
  11. You could live in Canada! I pay $91 for 50# CBA and $96 for PB. With the dollar as strong as it is.....it's not very comforting to know we are paying SO much more. Kim
  12. I'm not concerned with how much you multiply your costs by, but if you include the cost of your jar in that equation or just the supplies ....... Just curious??!!
  13. How do you set your retail pricing? 1. Multiply cost of wax, scent, dye wicks etc. AND jar by 3?? OR 2. Multiply cost of wax, scent, dye, wicks etc by 3 then add cost of jar?? OR 3. Some other way???
  14. I get about 18 hours with my votives...using Ecosoya PB. Kim
  15. I use Ecoysoya PB & 135 exclusively. There isn't a lot of other choices in Canada, so it's what I started with and am very happy. I get smooth glossy votives and beautiful containers that are smooth (98% of the time) and have great adhesion to the jar. I get a good HT with a week cure time on most FO. Kim
  16. WOW, this has really been enlightening! I am testing patchouli right now and had gone with brown (which is blah) so am glad to hear of purples and greens! Kim
  17. Does anyone know of a supplier who has this size of acetate box that holds ONE votive? I have seen them on countless wedding favor sites to purchase with their votive......I am wanting to price out for a wedding I am doing. Thanks!
  18. It wasn't terrible after a good cure time...but have heard so many good things about the throw with 135, that I have decided to see. I am not getting the ugly tops that everyone talks about and I love the adhesion to the jars! Kim
  19. Congrats! I haven't had a problem with throw in a 10oz or 16oz apoth with CBA either. It's great wax...but I am now testing 135 for my smaller jars. Kim
  20. I use Ecosoya PB with HTP 73. I also wait at least 48 hours, but prefer a week...if I can wait that long!! :rolleyes2 Kim
  21. I set my wicks in when wax is getting "thick"...seems to be OK...
  22. I used a HTP1212 on this.....just wouldn't mind a little less of a shell. I thought about trying another with a HTP 1312.
  23. I have attached a photo of my first palm pillar test. It's palm feather/soy blend. It's burned 50 hours with about another inch of solid candle still left. My question is....should I wick up to reduce the sides?
  24. I have just lit my pillar yesterday. I burned for 3hrs then 4hrs. I have a depth of just under 1" with a rim of about 3/8". It look gorgeous to me....I just hope it's not "beginners luck". Is this normal results for palm/soy thus far? I will try to add a pic, if I can figure it out. Kim
