  1. Yeah GA!!!! Looks good to me :whoohoo:
  2. Thank you all for your input..... I'm looking at the tin right now, and it says 100% pure olive oil, imported from Italy.... it was packaged in NY state, I didn't see any american rating on the oil like GA was talking about. It is true that OO is expensive, this tin wasn't, that's why I suspected that it was expired when I smelled a very different oder, but since it doesn't reak... then I suppose it must be ok, Thank you again! Melissa
  3. Hmm, I didn't even know that the scent review board existed, thanks for posting the link.
  4. I bought a 3L tin of OO for 11.99 at the grocery store. It said imported from Italy, thought it was a great deal. Once I got it home and opened it, it smelled very sweet, but not a nice sweet smell IMO, completely different from any other OO's I've smelled before. I made 2 bathches of soap with it. The first one was with peppermint EO, worked out great, but the second was with a FO, and it totally morphed and the smell of the soap really stinks to me... could this oil be expired, and sabotaging my soap?
  5. Thank you for posting this info. DH wanted to make a mold for me for Christmas, since we really can't afford to buy one right now. This is bound to help him alot.
  6. Pretty soap! How about calling the soap "Totally Rad" or some other 80's type saying. All the Teens are dressing in 80's garb now a days, and that soap looks just like a sweatshirt I wore in 1988.
  7. Thanks for sharing that info, I'm reading through a thread on the dish right now. I am a Dental Assistant (although stay home now that I have a family) I've been looking into making natural toothpaste...tooth soap is such a cool idea.
  8. Thanks for the tips GA!! Congrats on making your first batch of LS. I so look forward to making my own batch in the not too distant future.
  9. Thanks for the advice... your right, I think it would give me the willies to cook in a crock pot after making soap in it. I'll keep my eyes open for sales.
  10. Yes, I hadn't looked around the board before signing up for an account. I picked the name, not knowing that a VERY similar name was already in use..... if I had have known I would have just used my first name
  11. I've been looking into HP and LS, and I REALLY want to try making a batch of one or the other in my crockpot. Maybe this is a no brainer question, but if I make a batch of soap in it does that mean that I can't ever use it again to make pot roast? I was thinking that since the soaponification happens during the cook, than the lye should really effect the pot too bad... am I wrong? If so... I think I could do with out pot roast
  12. I'm still pretty new my self, so I don't have a tried and true recipe to give you, since I'm experimenting my self... I bought my shea butter from KB since I just wanted 1lb to get started, but eventually I'd love to order from the below site.... I'd like to buy as many things fair trade as possible, since women in underdevelloped countries need to support their children just like we do. http://www.agbangakarite.com/whole_bulksheabutter.php
  13. your website looks great, very inviting :smiley2:
  14. You could totally knit bags for your soaps! I haven't tried knitting with looms, just needles, but it looks easy. I'm glad you posted this... it's got me thinking .
  15. Very cute! Do you felt soap as well? I never have but think it would be fun.
  16. Ok, good to know. I'll have to try the spatula thing next time..... I've tried a couple different ways to swirl, getting good at swirls is certainly a process
  17. I can't believe you are a beginner, the soaps are awesome! And your photographs are very artistic too!
  18. Thanks Christina and blazerina! I'll try that method too then :smiley2:
  19. Oh, looks so good..... I'm gonna have to get come coffee butter.
  20. Beautiful Job! I'm very impressed with those swirls . I've been staring at the pic a while trying to figure out how you get them so fine. Do you swirl in the pot at all or all in the tray?
  21. Absolutly georgeous! Really love these soaps!
