Hello. I have a question that some of you may or may not be able to clear up for me. I just recently went to a small craft bazaar and there was a local candle co. there. It was stated that they mix soy, vegetable and parafin waxes together in their candles. (all container, glass and metal) Now, i don't know much about the different waxes...i use parafin only, but that just sounded weird to me. She stated that the reason they do that was to get longer and better burning as well as a better scent throw. I know that each of these waxes have different qualities, so is it a good idea to mix them together. And does it really improve the burnig and the scent throw better than just a straight parafin or soy candle? If this question has been brought up before i apologize for repeating it....i could not find anything in the search about it. Thanks for any info that any of you can give me. Julie

Here is a basket I put together for a wedding gift. The contents were: 2 container candles: one Red Clove and the other Amish Harvest; 2 goblets: both scented Amish Harvest; a heart shaped pillar scented Cinnamon; a fluted round pillar scented Mountain Lake; a tart burner; tarts in the shapes of leaves: some scented Amish Harvest and some Mountain Lake; a ceramic gift basket, pictured with the goblets; and I made two wax ornaments in the shape of bells and scented them Mountain Lake. I also put their names and the wedding date on a sticker on the back side of the bell. I know these pictures are not the best, so I hope you all can see how I put it all together. I did end up using a bigger basket than what is pictured because it was too small. I made the bow and lined the basket with fall colored raffia.

I like the texture too, great idea. And you did a great job with it. I am interested in smelling this raspberry lilac scent. Sounds great.

I picked up a package of 4 metal sauce cups from the dollar store today, (in the kitchen utinsels isle) to try and make votives with. Has anyone ever used these before? They are just a tad shorter than a votive mold, but a little bit wider. I just thought it might make an intersting and different size votive. I have some glass votive holders that are wider, so i think they would fit. I was just curious if anyone has used these before and how they turn out. TIA

Thank you. I don't have any plastic candy molds right now. (might get some for the future though) I do have some small cookie cutters that i wanted to use specifically for this wedding basket i am doing. They are in the shape of leaves and i am going with a fall theme for this one, so they would fit in. Would any of you recommend using container wax, or is pillar wax better for this? I have both and planned on using the pillar wax, but i was just curious. Thanks again.

Hello. I don't know if anyone has asked this question before, I did a search and couldn't find anything on it. I know a lot of you use the clamshells, and some of you use the fluted tarts. I just have the fluted tart molds and that is all I have used. I am in the process of making a gift basket for a wedding and wanted to include some tarts. I made a few fluted ones with some leftover wax. Anyway, my question is this....would it work to use small cookie cutters, like the size for making chunks, and making tarts with those? So basically making thicker chunks and melting them in the tart warmer? I can't see any reason why this would not work. But I don't normally make tarts and I am sure I could be missing something. Any help or info is appreciated. TIA

I agree...I don't think you should remelt them. I really like how the blue one turned out.
