  • About You
Inspired by family members, I first made candles about five years ago, and I still enjoy it immensely. Have since progressed to many candle types, and some B&B.

Due to my situation, I am limited to making the products, and I have someone who does the selling part at Craft Shows. However, they aren't always available, and there aren't always Craft Shows... but that's how it goes.

  1. Fresh Cut Roses from KY. True and strong.
  2. Don't know how it compares, but AH/RE has a great Welcome Home FO .
  3. Try Pumpkin Crunch from WSP---different, and outstanding.
  4. If your project consists of only soy or paraffin, then the only reason to use gel is when you want to add a glazed appearance. For Strawberry Shortcake, use a heat gun to lightly soften the cake/icing one small area at a time, and embed your strawberries in each area until you've achieved your desired effect. Once the wax cools, the strawberries will stay in place.
  5. Peak's Spruce is chosen over Heartfelt's Pine every time. It's considered the best and most realistic Christmas Tree fragrance by all who try it in candles, reed diffusers and room/linen sprays.
  6. Seems that Pumpkin Souffle from Candle Science is just what you want, and it is excellent.
  7. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, E.citriadora--- lemon eucalyptus essential oil---outperforms every other non-DEET insect repellant alternative. To make the scent more to your liking, you could add other essential oils, such as tea tree, cedar, lavender, juniper, and grapefruit.
  8. Just Scent has Coffee Cake and Spice , currently on sale for $8.95/lb.
  9. At Candlesandsupplies , the apothecary jars and handles are sold separately. The handle, #HDL-B , is listed as being out of stock, and "...currently not available for ordering on the web."
  10. Candlewic carries natural Bayberry Wax, and it's $11.55/lb. , but it does have a beautiful fragrance. For me, to have a true bayberry candle and its unique scent, especially during the Christmas Season, it's worth the cost.
  11. No, body safe does NOT mean that it may be used on the lips. WSP has Toasted Coconut flavor fragrance that's for lip balms.
  12. Using just my hands, I work some away from the side with my fingertips, then grab hold of as much as I can, and rip it away from the rest. To prepare for your next use, tear away big chunks, and leave them in the bucket so that you'll have to simply break apart the big pieces rather than struggle getting it away from the sides.
  13. Some candlemakers in China reportedly do use lead wicking. When you hear so often that many of those imported to the U.S. have been recalled, you have reason not to trust them. Your saying, "we live with a couple of parrots", rather than that they live with you, shows your love and concern, and I applaud your wanting to take all precautions.
  14. It might be helpful to store the embeds in your freezer before using them, and/or try pouring the gel a bit cooler. Another idea is to coat each individual embed with gel, set them aside until cool, and then add them when pouring your hot gel.
