  1. I have used the JS version of it and it's dead on. The hot throw is so strong in my 70/30 blend. It's my favorite scent!
  2. I'm using LX wicks in 70/30 parasoy. They do have a slight curl but I notice them totally moving from the middle of the jar closer to the top...definitely not centered like they were when I poured.
  3. I tried a search and didn't come up with anything. I am having troubles with my wicks shifting while burning. It's not the actual wick, but the tip of it. They are perfectly centered when I glue them down, but mid-burn it seems that they always pull closer together and move from the center. Is there something that I am or that I'm not doing that could be causing this?
  4. Thanks, but those aren't the same ones that I am looking for. I found some at Freund Container, but they don't have the sizes I need. Thanks anyways.
  5. Does anyone know who carries these? Greenleaf has discontinued them and I was really happy with the jars. Anyone have any idea who sells these with the flat lids?
  6. This is GL's 70 soy and 30 paraffin. I just didn't know what the advantages are of the 50/50.
  7. What wicks do you like for this wax? I have tested LX and Eco and have not been impressed with either. They both seem to mushroom and have high flames. I have heard good things about CD wicks and wondered if anyone has any other suggestions as to what gives them a good melt pool, scent throw, etc. Thanks!
  8. I have been using 70/30 wax but wondered if anyone can compare that with a 50/50 blend. Does the 50/50 get a stronger throw? Is it as easy to work with as the 70/30? I am considering trying that but wanted to know pros and cons before I start testing all over again. Thanks.
  9. Awesome, thanks for all of your input!
  10. Thanks everyone, I'll go check out the forum over there.
  11. I tried some of her scents in my palm and did not get good results but have much better results in my 70/30 blend. Can anyone recommend must haves from here? Anything to stay away from? Thanks
  12. I seem to get a better throw with the Eco's as well but have notice a massive amount of soot and mushrooming. Is it just me?
  13. I got it as a sample and just recently poured it in my 70/30 wax. It's smells exactly like BBW, but is a very light smell. I love the scent so I'd use it again and just keep it in a smaller room since it's so light.
  14. I'm just curious which wicks you all use with GL 70/30 blend? I am testing LX's and Eco's and so far I think I like the Eco's. The LX's aren't burning as cleanly. I also seem to get a better hot throw with the Eco's. Just wondering what everyone out there likes with the parasoy blend.
  15. Thank you to all of you! I will pass this along to them. I appreciate it.
  16. Well I went over and looked at the clamshells and the wax has bubbles in it and the packaging looks like it's caving in. It's melting into the wax. Any ideas?
  17. They said from the looks of it, the oil is melting the packaging? I'm not sure if that's possible or not. I guess the oil seems to be separating from the wax. I hope this is clear, I know that I am all over the place with the info, sorry
  18. They bought the clamshells from a wholesaler and haven't even melted them yet. I am guessing it is soy wax from the looks of it. They went to open the container to melt some of the tarts and they were already leaking before they had a chance to put them in a warmer. Sorry I can't give more info, I didn't get that much from them.
  19. I am writing this for a friend of mine who ordered some clamshells from a wholesaler. She said that only the darker colored clamshells seem to be "leaking" and you can smell the oil leaking out of the tart. Apparently it looks like it may be melting the plastic. What could be causing this? My first thought was too much FO, but I don't make tarts, so I'm not sure what the cause is. They aren't sure what type of wax it is, they just know that it is starting to leak FO and is really strong, as if the tart is already being warmed. Thanks
  20. Thank you everyone! I never even thought of the air conditioning and now that I think of it...the vent blows against the candle. I guess that would explain why I'm not getting much of a throw in there, huh haha. Thanks again.
  21. I'm sorry, I should have given more information. I am using palm wax from Nu-Scents. I'm heating the wax up to 200 and pouring at about 180'.
  22. I am having some troubles getting any hot throw in my candles. I can't figure out if it's my wax or maybe I am not letting them cure long enough? I am using FO from Peaks. I know it works well with this wax because the woman who I used to buy my candles from (and who taught me how to make them) used the same wax and FO, so I know it throws. She uses more than the recommended amount of FO per pound and I wonder if that's what it is. I use 1.5 oz and she used 2.5 oz. (Nu-Scents recommends 1.5 oz). I let the candles cure for two days (I'm a bit anxious and am using CSN wicks from Candle Science. Does anyone have any idea as to why I cannot get a good hot throw? It seems to work ok in small rooms but will not fill up my living room like the candles of hers that I have burned. I'm puzzled and really frustrated!
  23. I have the Harvest Moon but have not yet tested it in wax. It smells really good though... it has a very spicy/cinnamon-y scent. It smells like it may have a touch of pumpkin also.
  24. Thank you for your help. I think just making the extra wax for the repour will save me a lot of time from zapping the top with the heat gun and doing the relief holes 3 times! We'll see how it goes this time. Thanks again.
  25. I have been getting those stupid air pockets in every jar candle I make, regardless or how/what temperature I pour at. I have also poked relief holes and just zapped the top with a heat gun, which I know takes away from the crystal-look to the wax. However, when I use the heat gun, I still have to poke relief holes 2 more times in order to fill the holes. By doing a re-pour instead of using the heat gun, will this require any more than one re-pour and poking relief holes? Or does it usually just require the one time and the air pockets are gone and do not come back? Also, when doing the re-pour, do I add more FO and dye? Thanks!
