  1. It sounds like they sent that to you UPS rather than regular Mail. If they did send it UPS, they probably just charged you the UPS rate + a buck to pack it. I know $8.00 sounds high, but where I work, I've seen boxes for less than a pound go out to rural parts of Texas for more than it cost me to send a 2lb box to Oklahoma or Louisiana. You may want to ask, next time, if they could send it regular mail. You still may pay a couple bucks depending on their packaging, but it's still better than $8! HTH! Hugs, Jems
  2. JC...you don't suck! I only have 10 scents that I've tested - tried and true- that I offer right now. Lord knows I've got 5 times that many on my candle shelf, but I'm still testing. It takes a lot of work and a lot of time to get up to 50 - 100+ scents. Hugs, Jems ...My name is Jessi and I an a scent-a-holic....
  3. Hello K, I'm not sure about the white markings and pits, but you can absolutely re-melt those puppies. That's my favorite thing about candles...if they seuck, re-melt and nobody knows. What kind of wax are you using? Also, how much scent did you use? This might help someone answer the white markings quandry. HTH Hugs, Jems
  4. I've been using 6006 off and on for about 2 years, and have been able to use all of my fragrances with this wax. I also have had problems with the holes, but I found that the wider my jar, the fewer problems I had. I mean, I had tons of holes in my jelly jars, but when I switched to the Salsas I had a lot less. The only thing I didn't really like, besides the holes, was color absorption. It seemed I had to use more dye with 6006 than I do with 4630. I also use zinc core wicks with this wax and haven't noticed any problems. I did wick down just a tad on some fo's and jars, but that was about it. Hugs, Jems
  5. I use tons of cheap Cookie sheets to pour my candles on. I also use a Pizza Cutter I bought for cheap at Wally World to cut chunks.
  6. What is the mp of your paraffin? I use a 130mp paraffin wax for my votives, and use the (36-24P) votive wicks. I get a 15 hour burn on them. If the mp on your wax is higher, you will need a hotter wick. Maybe try (44-20-18Z) or (44-24-18Z). Both of those wicks are hotter than (36-24-24P) but cooler than (44-28-18Z). Hugs, Jems
  7. Hi Linda, When I was unable to get J223 or J50 at my supplier I tried the IGI 1945 (now IGI 4630) and really liked it. It has similar consistencies as the J223 but the jar adhesion was much better, IMO. I also tried the IGI 6006. I liked it also, but it seemed to absorb color differently so I wasn't sure I wanted to switch. As mizbizzyb said in an ealier post, a good single pour wax is what works best for you and will vary from person to person. I always think of candle making like cooking. I can take the exact same recipe as you, stand side by side and do everything exactly the same, and our candles will still be different. Maybe not drasticly, but different just the same. Hope you find a great wax that works well for you! Hugs, Jems
  8. hm....Have you tried Peaks vanillas? I haven't tried anything plain from them but their Vanilla Hazlenut is AWESOME!!! I guess to make it easier for us to suggest, what vanilla's have you tried and where did you get them? That way nobody suggests scents you've already tried and were unhappy with. Hugs, Jems
  9. Scented, Your candles are ALWAYS so beautiful. I just love the colors you used. I love the presentation with the sunflowers too. Once again you've done a great job! Hugs, Jems
