  1. Wow thats is very cool! Might have to try that and with a Kim Possible on it. Kids love that show.
  2. I can just say No, its just no one is listening. I have always loved experimenting, so this is a perfect activity for me. My only real decent pillar so far was the one that I tried to make it marbled. Came out great! I really should get a picture of it. Wish I remembered what I did though. Back on original topic... congrats again.
  3. Yeah I just ordered some. That and some Feather Piller.
  4. I havent tried it yet. I havent tried Palm at all infact. I did just order some though. I love CS!
  5. Hmm and I was just about to get some Palm to try out too.
  6. Congrats on your first pour. Having done my first pour only acouple of weeks I ago, I can totally understand your energy. I bet even the veterens feel it too. Funny thing, my first pour experience was with small (5oz) containers. The first batch (yes batch as I didnt know what I was doing.. still dont really) came out rather good. Very strong good cold throw. Not too bad Hot Throw. Afew had funky seporation from the sides (that I now know to be Wet Spots), and most had light frosting on tops. The Burn tests were even pretty good. Then my second pour. Not so good. I love every pour though.
  7. I just started my candle making adventures and I started with C-3 as well. Then went with P-1 for pillars (which I finally got a candle I can be somewhat proud of lastnight) I am thinking of trying out some Palm once I figure out how to get the other stuff (especially the C-3) to work the way I would like it to.
  8. Yeah one day I will become one with the Search button. You would think I create programs for a living that I would use them lol.
  9. I agree that it sounds like the glass might just need rubbing out. Also if you find that the tabs still arent sticking, you can try silcone. I havent used silcone yet but I have read afew posts and tutorials of people that have used it. Might even try a hot glue gun. Yeah What Amber Said
  10. Michi I havent used Paintshop Pro in over a year, but I do remember seeing quite a few tutorials online. Just do a google search for Paint Shop Pro tutorials. I did a quick search and the first page was loaded with site with infomation. The same goes for Photoshop. Also, because Photoshop is much larger in scope and user base, there are a great deal of books out there ranging from Photoshop for Dummies to very detailed books like 'Game Art' (Which I should probably read since I did buy it).
  11. Well I have only used C-3 as I bought a 50 lb box of it to start my playing with. Don't think I will do that again. Thats me though jumping in all the way even though I cant yet swim. As for the C-3 I am just starting out and havent tried anything else, but my first pour seemed really good, strong cold scent, with pretty much only slight frosting on top. My other test pours though have all pretty much been disappointing. But I chalked that up to just starting. I assumed this would be like juggling, where as I didnt just pick up 3 balls and magically was able to keep them in the air.
  12. This is awesome. I was going to ask the samething... eventually. I have only made a handful of container candles and I used liquid dye. I loved it. Still do in fact. But was wondering about blocks since I see alot of them offered for sale. I did place a small order so I can try them out too. Until then though I like liquid.
  13. I have not actually received my order from New Directions yet so can't totally speak on experience. I have been around EO's for about 10 years now and have grown to love them. Can thank my wife for that. Especially peppermint when migrains come. Anyway, I hope they are as good as I think they are because my order was around $200.
  14. Violet Not sure if this helps but I just starting using New Directions http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/index.php for my oils. Being that my wife has a degree in Herbal studies we also get some from her school as she gets a discount and we know they are of very high grade. The school tends to run higher though. The school is Australasian College. The schools shop url is http://www.apothecary-shoppe.com if your interested. But I think they are fairly pricey. The actual schools url is http://www.achs.edu for anyone wondering.
  15. I too love the Smooth and Rustic together look. Very nice!
  16. As a web Designer/Developer I have to use Photoshop CS. Kind of expensive for just cleaning up photos. Photoshop elements is a good choice if your just concerned with photo touchup. I think someone said they got it for around $99 which sounds about right to me. This is what my wife uses for the family photos. I tried using it for a web project I was doing where I need to resize, scale, crop and remove items from images and it just did not do what I needed, and Photoshop CS does. Someone else also mentioned PaintShop Pro. This is an excellent photo editor/Paint program. It's from Jasc and I believe they still have a full working trial. You should try that out and see if its something you like. I believe you can buy a key for it online so you don't even have to go shopping. There are several other photo editors out there if you do a google search. Some free some donation. I haven't really used any of them so can't give any feedback.
  17. I am about to tinker with Tealights next week. I too am glad that I saw this first, and had an oppertunity to get some before trying my first batch without them. Although that might be a learning experience I should do anyway.
  18. Coming in late... always fun. Anyways its not really fair for me to come and start totally picking your site apart (which it doesnt really need), as I make them for a living. Well partly for a living. I actually really like your initial candle picture. I will the actual candle business pages and info up to those that are here that really understand that. I am very new to the whole candle making process, let alone selling them. I have two main suggestions, that with out major HTML/Javascript experience you can do. 1. This has already been addressed but I think its worth noting again. Your default url should goto the main site, not the intro page. I agree with everyone so far in that I personally hate Intro pages, especially the long winded Flash animated ones. I noticed your Home button goes to that page, you could just make the home page part of your site with the navigation buttons and all. Very easy change actually. 2. Your navigation buttons, when the user clicks on one to navigate to that page, for example the Contact Us page, you hide that button from the list. I wouldnt do that. I know its a very minor issue but you would be surprised at what people comment about on sites, and not having a constant navigation scheme is among the highest of complaints. I do have other suggestions that would require someone with some design and web programming skills to help you with. If you want to email I would love to help you with those, but your site works and that really is the most important thing.
  19. I am speaking strickly as a consumer of candles now and not a maker, but I don't like labels on the lids. Its hard to display and I like to see the label when I look at the candle. As for shape and size, thats hard to say with seeing your logo. Some logos are very well suited for a round label, where as some are not. It really comes down to what you think looks better. Size wise I would go with smaller so the candle itself sticks out. Thats just my consumer opinion though, complete with spelling errors and all.
  20. Being new I have not had the pleasure of pouring lots of containers yet, but I did stumble upon these little devices when researching, and were among my first order. I have never poured with them yet. Guess I am lucky that way.
