  1. I bought my mold from catzinthehouse on etsy. The molds she makes are easy to break apart and never leaked. She accepts custom order and works fast. I use colorant from emporium natural and love it. Not as much variety as non-natural colorants but good enough for me.
  2. I don't think I have seen another type 1 oz tube. I got a 0.75 oz one in a swap and I think it's too thin for body application. It took forever to cover my entire body. I prefer wider tubes because of this reason.
  3. I was wondering about the same thing today. Went to many grocery stores and I couldn't find any Lard. I'll try going to the butcher tomorrow. For soapmaking, will any kind of lard works?
  4. I second Columbus Foods. The price is unbeatable. I have been buying their oils for a year now and never have any problems. The shipping cost can be crazy though if you live far.
  5. I just noticed that too last week when I wanted to re-order. I am so sad. I love her base and her shipping cost is unbeatable. I hope someone else will be able to take over.
  6. I make my own body butters but I buy a base for lotions. I am too scared to make lotions from scratch. There is a tutorial on youtube courtesy of Coastal Scents on how to make whipped shea butter. It's actually pretty simple. I use Kimberly's body butter recipe from the Recipe section.
  7. Here is mine : 2 oz beeswax 1 oz cocoa butter 1 oz shea butter 1 oz avocado oil 0.5 oz apricot kernel oil 0.5 grapeseed oil 1 ml Vitamin E (Tocopherol) It's in a lotion bar form and I package it in a 2 oz twist up tube. If you would like to have more of a salve consitency, just double the amount of liquid oils.
  8. Hi everyone, In all the CP soap recipes I find on the forum, all are using coconut oil. Is there a way to substitute this with another oil? Some of my customers are allergic to coconut so I would like to offer some coconut free soaps. TIA Celly
  9. I use 4 oz contessa jar to package mine. I got them from bayousome or wholesalesuppliesplus as well.
  10. Thank you so much for the tips I am going to go get some stainless steel measuring scoop.
  11. I tried to use pipette to fill the tubes but my lip balm mixture became solid inside the pipette and I couldn't use it anymore. The mixture is liquid in my pyrex cup but as soon as I suck it up with the pipette, it became solid. Any advice?
  12. Lip balm is easy to make but very challenging to fill those teeny tiny tubes. My first b&b project was an eczema salve. My kids have eczema too and I found the recipe on this board. Very easy to make, just melt everything and pour
  13. I am glad you like it. Lindsey is super friendly and awesome to work with. Maybe the PO was just slow. During the holiday season, packages get lost or delayed
  14. Me:D so I won't order from them and waste my hard earned money
  15. I highly recommend Soapers Workshop(Lindsay) as well. She will ship your bases using FRB. That saved me a lot of money
  16. I have never tried it. I am to scared the water will get my lotion bar all moldy.
  17. It happened to me too. I believe it's the mango butter. From what I have read, it is pretty similar to shea. It can get grainy if you don't handle it properly. To prevent your shea or mango from getting grainy, you need to cool your products fast. I usually refrigerate my lip balm or lotion bar container for 15 minutes before I fill it and I refrigerate them again once I am done. So far, that has worked for me. Here is the mms site if you would like to read more : http://www.thesage.com/catalog/FixedOil.html Scroll to the middle of the page, right under the Shea butter. HTH Celly
  18. I have a customer who is a germaphobe and would like to know if bacteria can grow on cp soaps. Anyone knows the answer? TIA Celly
  19. I was very intrigued by this cleansing technique. It looks easy enough to make . I am going to test my formula on my sister. If it works, I'll probably add it to my product line :smiley2:
  20. I second emu oil but it does stink. I heard grapeseed oil and calendula oil works well.
  21. I just ordered from her last Friday. She is awesome!!!Answered all my questions promptly. I can't wait to try the lotion base
  22. I tried chamomile neroli and eucalyptus peppermint. The chamomile one I don't like at all. The eucalyptus is pretty good.
