Slowly finding out that many of the bigger wax mfgs and suppliers will tweak a wax and repackage for other suppliers who buy bulk. It's fine if they rename the wax but naming same is just dang confusing. It's bad enough batch to batch differs and requires retesting.

Did you check the lot#'s on those bags? one may have been a different lot and wax is varying so much these days. It does sound like sink holes in the wax. You can poke around the wick and repour or heat gun to help with sink holes. Cold weather can also factor if the candle cools unevenly sink holes are likely to develop. A box over the candles while cooling may help.

So now I know why Flaming Candle stopped emailing for a long time and just started back up at during the last quarter of 2022. I understand it's a tough market for small business fragrance companies but it's killing the even smaller ones like us.

The vicious cycle never ends!

So sad because they were in my top 3 once upon a time. I haven't bought from them in quite a few years now and just ran out of the scents I liked the best.

I found instructions on youtube when I made them. Yes you seal and they tell you what to use. Sorry it's been quite a minute since I've made them..like 15 years.
Several were from reputable companies that had DIY instructions

Anything should be covered under your misc items on renter's insurance, HOWEVER...some renter's insurance specifies that any business needs to be covered separately so you probably would have to say it's a hobby. Check your policy. Even my homeowners insurance did not cover any business product.

She sure has an imagination to come up with this. Funniest part is, after all that it prob cost her around the same $ to produce a candle.

A little late to the party, heh!
has anyone tried adding jojoba to their candle wax blend?
Sorry no, but I forgot I even tried the olive oil! This is a really old post, lol.

I tried it on a couple of snap bars the other night just for the hell of it, and it worked!! Of course I need to find something softer to use lol. I used a regular old wash cloth and it was a little rough looking lol. It left marks across it. Someone else had told me they use old pantyhose or stockings on their pillars and it worksworks good to mattify it. What do you use on yours?
old t-shirts work pretty well

I'm working with paraffin, but even if it would also work for paraffin it just wouldn't be practical as I'm dealing with wax melts instead of candles. Too much real estate to go over! 🤣
I'm not sure about paraffin but I did this on all my clamshell melts and multi cavity mold melts.

Not sure about all soy wax but C3 I used to wipe the surface after solid and it would make it matte.

When things started getting really bad, I started buying more wax in a single purchase, enough to last me through at least a year. You do need space to do this esp if you are a larger scale business. I had to always call to ensure I was getting all the same lot # of wax in my purchase. Aside from that, testing, like everyone said, is the only way to do it.

I totally agree! Only good experiences plus I really like many of their oils which means double goodness!

A carrier oil is an oil that you add to EO to make it skin safe. They are completely different.

It really depends on both the type of plastic and the fo itself. I found heavy vanilla and sometimes citrus will cause the bottles to cave in at which time I would switch them to glass. 99% of the time the oils remain in the same bottle purchased in. Once I had about 10 bottles purchased at the same time from a supplier where the bottles started to morph and I changed them all out but that happened once in 30+ years. I think that was a batch of fo where the supplier changed their bottles only to find they didn't work out.

The old programmer in me would love to make something like that again. Technology has changed so much that it would be like starting from scratch again.
Would be great to have it again! I don't even remember who put it together but so nice to type in a fragrance name and have all the suppliers pop up for you.

Sorry Gail! I miss it terribly as well.

It was fragrance oil finder but I think it's gone now.

I'm not sure it will help HT with C1 but it may help tops and adhesion. I always used it in C3 at 2 Tablespoons in 5# wax, never really noticed increase in HT there either but did help with adhesion and smoother tops that didn't morph nearly as much over time.

I think you'll do well with the customers that don't want to buy in plastic. Some customers don't care so you'd prob sell both. I've recently thought about starting to make these again so this thread has helped since it's been 15+ years since I sold them.

Another popular here is to buy or make a bottle stand (looks like a tree almost) and the bottles are placed upside down on the spokes to create yard art. They don't pick up here either but there are bottle recycling centers nearby us so you might want to check to see if there are any near you.

This is a dangerous topic, lol.

As long as it's not a wicked product the bubbles should be fine. I've seen melts that look like the ice method was used, pretty cool look.
Am I being a perfectionist? (when is good enough, good enough?)

HTP wicks will sometimes benefit by twisting them. I do it before I set the wick and then again, if needed, before I pour. I tend to agree about wick size, you can start with 105 but if it burns too hot at the 1/2 way point you should wick down 1-2 sizes. This will vary with fo used.
