  1. Hi Stella, Thanks so much for the great info! New wicks and new fo's. Thankfully I am at the bottom of the box and will order new wax Monday. Thanks so much!
  2. But why after years with no problems and great burns, why all of a sudden, does this happens. (The get a third down the jar burn-out crap!!!) Yes!!! Me toooooo! But the lighter and medium scents burn awesome. Go figure. This is NOT the time of the year to NOT be able to make pumpkin! LOL Sigh...all I do is test! The other day someone asked me if it was easy. I said if you like to torture yourself, you'll be fine! LOL Sorry you are going through this too. The next box of wax will be great! right? right! :smiley2:
  3. Well geez, I am having problems too. Just getting back into the candles after some time off. I mix 415 and 115. I'm having problems with the heavier scents. They all get extra mushrooms (more than usual) and eventually turn into a puny flame by mid jar. (using 6%) The lighter and medium scents work great, (use about 8%) but the bakery fo's are driving me nuts! I can't wick scents like gingerbread cookies, pumpkin souflee, etc (omg and everybody wants this one, lol) It's all the thicker fo's. Never had a problem before. I tested 415 alone and I think thats the wax that is giving me problems. It is similar looking to the pic posted - only I have bigger clumps of wax stuck together. It is dated 8/21/09 - is just too old? I do have a lot number. I know I am not overheating. I don't know what to think!
  4. i think that is very cool that someone shared the lot number.(I am another one that was running to my box to check. lol) I remember a couple of years ago when many experienced that"bad batch" - that is when I first started making soy candles...omg...I thought I was going crazy!! I can't believe that I didn't give up. Hubby called the supplier, (which, imo, is a pretty big supplier) and they also denied there was a problem and denied recieving any other complaints. I was so angry...spent so much money with them and and I felt betrayed or something and their reaction made me feel stupid. Needless to say..don't get my wax there anymore. My present supplier states on their site that the wax may vary batch to batch, and to test, test, test! Big kudos to them! (wish I would have known that when I just started!)
  5. omg..this board is gonna get me in trouble with hubby. Was strictly 100% soy last few years. Just broke down and got a soy/parafin blend to try. Just checked out CS and I really love the look of those containers. Want to try this wax too. Wonder if I can claim temporary insanity??
  6. - there is a big difference in the burns. oh %%$$@@@. Guess I am remelting over the weekend. show me where the bar is............. thanks!
  7. Just made a few cases of containers. Usually pull one candle out of each batch of fo to light/test for myself (cause I'm paranoid. lol). Got new htp's from a different supplier. Didn't bother to test. Well, the two that I am burning now are just not making it at all with these new wicks. PUlled out the new wick from the new supplier and put my old htp in from different supplier - it is burning just fine. It still could be too early to tell but, please oh please don't tell me that when you switch wick suppliers that you have to test each formula? I don't drink, but maybe I should start to.
  8. get mine at Southern Scentsations in MI. http://greatcandle.com/
  9. hope so. But nobody told me you go insane during the process. lol:grin2:
  10. thanks guys..thanks so much for the quick response.:smiley2: I think I am reading too many boards, too much comparing and too critical of my own product. And yes - your replies help a lot!! thanks again!!
  11. Hi all, I have read on several message boards where people are using 9 to 10 percent fo in their 100% soy containers. Even with some known "heavy" fo's. I am starting to wonder if I am doing something wrong, because I think on average, I am only able to use 1 oz - 1.20 oz. Any more than that, and the flame gets too mushroomy and/or dwindly mid jar. (for my 8 oz square and 12 oz masons) Please tell me I am not the only one who uses this percentage or thereabouts - cause either that, or I am just going crazy. lol Guess I am just curious what the others use and if maybe mine should be stronger. thanks!!
  12. oh I absolutely love the 415 - I think it has an incredible throw, both hot and cold. I was having a heck of a time wicking, however. As soon as the 115 became available, I started mixing the two and had wonderful luck with that combo. All of the sudden, I am having problems wicking again. Everything is the same. I know people were mixing the 125 with the 115 as well. I went to their board and supposedly the 125 may be easier to wick. If it does work out, I know I won't be able to say 100% soy though. I couldn't wait and made a couple tonight with the 125/115. Anxiously awaiting...
  13. Currently and for a while now have been mixing 50/50 415 & 115 and haven't had any problems.....until now. lol Am only able to use light to moderate fo's with the 415/115 mix. (can't wick higher and I sooo don't feel like messing with the fo percentages again) I had already ordered a box of the ky125 to mix with the 115, and to test. I am going to try my heavier fo's again (same percentage as I always used to use) and compare. I plan on making some tommorrow, but am curious whether or not anyone has used both combos before and if there is any noticable differance?? ...........getting frustrating......
