  1. I am using Eco-Soya. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't loosing any FO in the heating process.
  2. I have an FO that says it's flash point is 132. What exactly is it telling me and why should I need this info? Am I putting the FO in at too high a temp?
  3. They are both great, but I would lean towards that blue pillar. The combination of the blue and white starburst patterns coming through the sides are incredible.
  4. About to pour my first containers this weekend. I was advised to use the 4636 wax, and looking at the results of the survey that Top did, looks like I got a pretty good wax. Was hoping to find some hints and tips for container pouring with this wax. Some things in particular I would like to know: Pour fast or slow? Is pre-heat needed? Water bath, yes or no? How do I increase glass adhesion? I saw a thread here about using caulking to stick the wick tab down. Is that a preferred method? Please chime in on any, or all, of these, and please let me know what works well for you in regards to color, scents, or anything you can think of. Thank you!
  5. Ya'll are kind. I tried to hurry the process along and it shows. The next one I will take my time with. The color line blended very well I thought.
  6. I like the ones with the ribbons on them. Very creative!
  7. Those are neat looking. Love the green color.
  8. This will be straight paraffin. My goal would be to find a 'one pour' wax. As far as local pick up, I have no idea if their is a wax store near Elizabethtown, KY. So far my searches have turned up nothing. Can anyone help?
  9. I am ready to move into containers. They will be small containers for the most part. I need some advice on the right type of wax to use and were to get a good price. Any ideas? Thanks!
  10. A big jar lid. Of course. Duhhhhh! Signed, Another Noobie
  11. Has anyone tried to make a wooden wick? My wife found a candle on the internet that has a wooden wick and I was hoping that someone could shed a little more light on the subject.
  12. I didn't remember until now, that was my very first pour. Bye-bye first candle. LOL
  13. Nope. It was an accident that worked well, I think.
  14. I have made some pours with parifin. I would also like to do some with soy. So, what is the difference and can I use the same mold, colors, etc?
  15. I waxed some wicks for some tapers that I made once. Hated it. The wicks wouldn't stay straight after that. For my pillars and other mold types, I don't wax at all. Works for me, but I am not 100% sure about why one should wax the wick prior to the pour anyway. Good luck!
  16. I am going to be able to have the time tonight to make a few pours in some new and highly experimental containers. All I have is regular ole hobby store parifin wax. It has turned out some good pillars and such, but what type of problems can I expect from this wax, seeing as I don't have enough time to buy and receive anything decent?
  17. Odd you should ask. I am asking myself the same question. On a VERY recent trip, a friend of ours told us about a store that she just opened and asked if we would make some candles for her to use as displays for her furniture (antiques) and to sell as well. Of course I said yes, and will begin pouring hot and heavy tonight.
  18. I didn't put in enough chunks. It ain't grand, but my wife likes it!
  19. Those are incredible. Totally awesome. Great colors and form on all of them. How? That's my question. How? My mom had a candle like those. I have always loved that candle. I think that is why I got into candle making, so I can finally learn to make a carved candle like those. Can someone tell me how?
  20. Those are great. I was going to try a tilt or a draped this past weekend, but I am getting ready for a trip in a few days so I didn't get a chance. Just keep melting wax!
  21. I had no idea that my balls could cause such a stir. I am in the process of making a 3 X 3 square. If it turns out, I'll post a pic. If not, there will be a question in the General section.
  22. I was there, but I wasn't gonna say anything about it.
