  1. They are about 2 1/2 oz. Top is 1 3/4" wide, bottom 1 1/2" and they are 2" tall. I always used 44-28-18z before I changed wax with no problems. What would you suggest, wicking up to the 44-24-18z? Thanks!
  2. I just changed waxes for my votives. I'm now using a 50/50 blend and zinc wicks, small for votives. The wick is burning straight down the center of the candle, about 1/3 of an inch down then the flame burns out. I've tested several different FO's and they all do it. Is the wax to soft, do I need to add something to harden it? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for all the input! Sounds like a good place to start with a few oils. My gosh there are so many great suppliers out there, like I really need a new one,
  4. I'm trying to find FO's suppliers closer to my area to hold down shipping costs. Have any of you ever ordered from Tradewinds, if so, how are their FO's. Can you recommend any! Also, how is their customer service and shipping time.
  5. Thanks once again Candlebuddy! I just ordered a small amount from both places to see what happens. I just really feel like I'm flying blind by not knowing what is in the wax. I guess I can eat $30 shipping from JS for 50 lbs if the others don't work out. I know I have orders and almost outta wax, so something better work soon, LOL! Thanks again!
  6. Well I jumped the gun on ordering. I got my order today! The Maple Sugar is just awesome. I got the Pink Sugar to and a sample of Honey Gingerbread, MMMMMM! All of Connie's FO's have been incredible and great sellers for me. I also have the Pumpkin Cornbread, Lemon Tart and Choc Cheesecake. I just don't think you can go wrong with any of the Backwood FO's, they are that GOOD! Just had to put my 2 cents in, LOL! (The other Connie)!
  7. I've been using JS 50/50 Pillar and Votive wax for a long while now to make tarts. The price is steadily going up to where there is not much of a profit margin anymore with shipping. I've had a few tell me that FH has a good para/soy as well as KY. I certain don't doubt they are great waxes. I called both places and they won't say what the ratio is on their Pillar Votive wax. So, what do I tell my customers? I don't want a 70/30 % blend, and as far as "Other Additives", what does that mean. What else is there? I want something as close to 50/50 that I can possibly get, soy and para. I buy my FO from several places and I know they work in the 50/50. I certainly don't want to have to start retesting tarts after all these years. So, my question is...Does anyone else use the 50/50 parasoy wax for Pillar Votives from FH or KY that has at anytime before used JS to make tarts? Are they close in comparison? Am I asking to much to know what percentage is in the wax I buy? I don't need to know their exact ingrediences, but a close estimate would make my life much easier. Any help or recommendations would greatly be appreciated. Cee
  8. Sorry, I got so distraught over the Cherry Cobbler being discontinued that I forgot to come back here, LOL! I called JS and talked to Shawna. They just changed the name of the cherry cobbler to cherry pie. So, again I'm in business. That cherry crumb pie sounds good, might have to try that one to. Thanks for the info!
  9. I just started to place an order with JS, where I have always bought my cherry cobbler fo's. This is one of my best sellers and she doesn't have it anymore, OMG! Anybody got a favorite supplier with a GREAT cherry cobbler. Becky's would run you outta the house, LOL! I'm in NEED! Thanks, Connie
  10. Thanks Leisa ~ I'll check out that website. I do like the darker bottles too. I haven't tried Backwoods Honey Gingerbread yet, but that is on my list. All Connie's other FO's I have are just awesome in 50/50. I know I'll like that one to. Funny, that we are already talking about holiday scents. Connie
  11. michelleb ~ What type of wax do you use? I use JS 50/50 and after several attempts from other suppliers, I'm still looking for a great Gingerbread Cookie. So far they have all smelled horrid! Haven't tried Snowtop, but thought I'd ask about the wax first, LOL!
  12. Hey Becky ~ What a wonderful surprise to see your post. Happy to hear you are doing better. Take the Doc's advice, JS is doing a fabulous job taking care of us while you're recouping. Take care of yourself "SweetPea"! Connie
  13. ChrisR ~ I've been extremely happy with my fo's from Backwoods. They are all awesome. I've been eyeing the Honey Gingerbread so I'm glad you posted about it. I've tried several gingerbreads from other suppliers and have hated everyone of them. They never smell like gb to me or anybody else. Guess I'll be placing another order now, cause if Connie's smells that great, I will be very happy:) The Pumpkin Cornbread ~ Well my mom has taken every single one I poured last week, LOL! She can't get enough of them. I gave her one to test for me and she was HOOKED! It is one of my favorite scents to. Thanks for keeping us informed girls.
  14. You girls really do have to get those orders placed, I poured the Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake, Lemon Tart and Pumpkin Cornbread last Saturday. Tested them all today and OMG! They are heavenly!!! I certainly will be buying more from Connie. Her customer service is excellent to. Can't wait to see all the new fo's she will be listing in the future:yay: Take the plunge ladies!!!!
  15. Connie ~ That is just beautiful!!! You did a fantastic job, I love it! Had to giggle at the "Mini Me" part. I'm expecting my fourth grandchild the end of April. My only grandson is a "mini me". It was obvious the second he was born, LOL! Full of spit and vinegar just like his Nana and we sure have a blast together. Congrats to you on your upcoming little one. There is NO such thing as spoiling a grandchild. We can get away with everything and there isn't a thing our kids can do about it! Best wishes to you and the happy couple. Let us know what the ladies at the shower say about you lovely diaper cake.
  16. OH MY GOODNESS! I just rec'd three of Connie's fo's and they are EXCELLENT! I ordered: Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake ~ You just want to drink it out of the bottle!!! Pumpkin Cornbread ~ Very, very nice fragrance. Smells delicious Lemon Tart ~ Smells dead on of a lemon meringue pie Can't wait to add these to my line of fo's. I know they will all be a BIG success. Backwoods definitely has a new customer!
  17. Glo ~ LOL! I am sooo sorry! After reading a few post I got all confused myself. To many Connie's!!!! Then I realized we were talking about two different companies. No, I've already looked at your site and I'll be ordering from you next week, not the one that charges the $12. Geez! This was one confusing thread! My grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and my grandfather was half Cherokee, 1/2 Choctaw. My nickname has been Cherokee for years. But, I am also a Connie, LOL!
  18. Valerie ~ LOL! Sorry, I'm referring to Connie of Connie's Candles for the banana nut bread and apple cinnamon fo's. Here's her link http://www.conniescandles.com/ I got confuse to with Connie at Backwoods. Plus, my name is Connie!!!!
  19. dcroome ~ I live in Central FL. Most suppliers up in that general area ship to me for $8, so I was shocked at the $12. Connie has the best Banana Nut Bread and Apple Cinnamon I have ever found. I looked at her site again and still didn't see the turtles...may be time for new glasses, HA! That Pink Pepperberry sounds good. Going to have to check out Backwoods. Thanks for the link. I can't smell a thing anymore, I have to wait for company to come in and tell me what they smell. Sad, huh!
  20. Shoot! I just got an order from Connie's last week. Didn't see the turtles. She charged me $12 to ship 3 8oz bottles of FO. That's to rich for my blood! Where is Backwoods? I didn't see them on the Suppliers list. I did a search, but I didn't see anything regarding Turtle FO. Can one of you give me the link, please! I'm going to go broke buying FO's, LOL! They all smell so good though.
  21. Has anybody tried this FO yet? It's new but sounds interesting. I got a OOB of Turtles from JS's that smell yummy but the cheesecake part from ICS has me intriqued.
  22. Ingrid ~ I use the clamshells from JS. I love them. I haven't really bought them from anybody else, so I guess the quality is good. I don't have any problems with them or any dissatisfied customers. Becky has a great price on them too. Hope that helps!
  23. JS's Chestnuts and Brown Sugar is one of my biggest sellers. Can't keep it in stock. My favorite also!!! Haven't tried MC's, but don't feel the need.
  24. Sherrilynn ~ I don't know what happened. Yesterday I noticed that all the tarts I poured had a white cloudy film on them. Frosting? The cold throw had almost disappeared and they looked just aweful. I tested today the Snickerdoodle, good hot throw, but tarts just didn't look good. I also tested the chocolate and a vanilla crunch I believe. Chocolate smelled like it was burnt and the vanilla was very mild, which I expected. I've yet to find a vanilla that really throws well hot. I'm not really sure exactly what happened, guess I'll give Michelle (EL Dealer) a call tomorrow and see what her intake is. Do you have any suggestions, has this ever happened to you? I am so disappointed, I thought I had really found a good wax, close by that I was going to like.
  25. I picked up a few sample pounds of the votive wax from Soylutions this past week. Tarts poured great, came right out of the molds. Good cold throw. But, after a few days of curing, the tarts are getting a powdery look to them..could it be frosting??? I mean I know it is, I was so discouraged because I thought I had finally found a great wax close enough to go pick up. I also poured some grubby tarts and my molds now have a film in them. I've washed them several times with hot soapy water and the film is still there. Never happened with 50/50 waxes. Michelle at Soylutions is wonderful, but I don't think I'll be able to get the quality in my tarts with her votive blend.
