  1. I would correct this typo on the home page: Thank you for visiting our website. All of our candles are hand poured and made with only the finest ingrediants. We use 100% soy wax, cotton wicks and high quality fragrances in which also include some essential oils. Change it to ingredients. And I would change the other to say high quality fragrance and essential oils. High quality fragrances in which also include some essential oils doesn't sound right to me. Double check for typos and see if you can get a clear shot of your candle. To me it looks fuzzy. Congrats on getting your site up.
  2. As long as the oil is incorporated well into the existing batch you should be ok. I'd be concerned with lye heavy areas if it didn't.
  3. Run away. Far away. And don't look back. Drop ship wholesale on net terms? No way. Even if you entertain it, do yourself a favor and run a credit check and ask for 3 trade credit references at the very least. Then be prepared to chase her with a collection agency if she flakes.
  4. If you know what the finished oz are for the pockets (ex 4 oz bars) just multiply that number by 12 for the oz of soap batter.
  5. L x W x H x .4 will give you volume that each mold can hold. Hth ETA: For clarification it is for each "pocket" or area that your soap batter is going into. Multiply that by 12 (one for each "pocket" for total amount of oils. Just be prepared for another holding mold because once you add water your volume changes.
  6. I have used SW. I love Tupelo Honey. It's been a consistent seller for me at my markets and fairs.
  7. I do CP soap and I don't use mica other than when highlighting my stamp. My best purple is Ultramarine Violet or Purple Oxide. I think oxides are much better than mica's for coloring. I also use infused alkanet root for purple at times.
  8. I'd be pissed. And I don't think I'd order anything from her. I'd also get a comment on the website about your experience if you have that ability. If she can't get a sniffie in a self addressed stamped envelope for 4 weeks what happens if you order $100.00 worth of product?
  9. Hi Sabrina, basically you now have to charge for your labor. So what I would do is figure out how many candles you can package properly and fully in one hour. If you want to be paid say 12.00 an hour for labor and you do 12 candles I'd charge a dollar a candle for packaging.
  10. If the FO is not skin safe and is to be used just as a sniffie sample, I would say no carrier oil. They're just sniffing not applying. Well hopefully they aren't :undecided I would also make sure if you give them sniffies give them a sheet that talks about the fo's you use, a scent listing and put on there that the fo's are not to be used for skin application. Hth
  11. I am responding with what I know of essential oils, their properties are very different than their synthetic counterparts. Sometimes the flash point is extremely low. I know with my litsea cubeba and my citrus that I use in my soap making has a much lower vaporization point than my fragrance oils. My concern would be the concentration of essential oil in some of the blends. If it has a lower vaporization point it should in turn affect throw. My wax I use is ecosoya cb135 from Candle Science. I'm pleased with the wax, the service, pricing and my relationship with my supplier. Thanks for posting this thread because I'm still new to candlemaking and I have the utmost respect for all of you that do this, and do it well. Making Cp soap is a cakewalk for me compared to my candle research.
  12. Are you using fragrance oil or essential oils? I am really new to candle making but an experienced soap maker and I know that eo's react differently than fo's in product. Your site says you use exclusively eo in candle scents, but I see scents such as hot apple pie? Your candles are cute by the way.
  13. Hi Motherhues, I just started posting this past week after lurking for a couple years. Nice to see you over here too!
  14. I would not sell a product I couldn't back 100%, but that's me. I have turned down accounts that want something I don't normally make and I'm not 100% comfortable with no matter how much money it is I may be losing.
  15. If you are ordering from AAA chemicals there is a difference between bead and flake. The Sodium Hydroxide NAOH is in bead form only and Potassium Hydroxide KAOH is in flake form. They only have one form for each lye.
  16. Beautiful soap, I am loving Jamaica Me Crazy, gorgeous!
  17. Thanks Soapbuddy, that means alot to me coming from you and it's nice to see a familiar face over here!
  18. They are all gorgeous and I like the black lines because it's different.
  19. Thanks everyone, I just wanted to show you all some of my favorites.
  20. If you are unsure of what it is, I would chunk it and add it to CP soap as decorative chunks. I would not melt it down and add it to my CP soap batter. Hth .
