  1. Hi All, I'm trying to pour mottled pillars, I'm using the IGI 1274, pouring at about 180, 5% fragrance, and 4% stearic. What I'm getting is little to no mottling, and tiny air bubbles all over the candle. What can I do to prevent this? I believe they cooled very slowly, I let the 3X6 sit for over 8 hours and it was still slightly warm to the touch. Some have a little mottling, but not much. TIA!
  2. Thanks for the advice. Is the candle still salvagable with the leakage?
  3. What a night! Got some new seamless concave molds from candlescience, and I'm using the large wick screws and sealing putty, and the wax is leaking from the bottom!! Any others ever experience this? Use more putty??
  4. Hello, IFT was acquired by Agilex earlier this year, they now go by Agilex Flavor and Fragrances.
  5. Hi All, Just wondering if any of you have ever ordered from IFT/Agilex. I recently made a very large order and absolutely love their FO's. My favs so far is the Henri Bendel Vanilla Bean, Henri Bendel Quince, Voluspa Jasmine Brown Sugar, and Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin. Love them!!!
  6. Painted with what type of paint do you think? And sealing, is it just a matter of dipping in uncolored wax? Thanks for all the help!
  7. heck can I do something like this? Is it just a matter of multiple pours with multiple colors? http://www.anacandles.com/catalog/item/1692509/4934573.htm
  8. I'm not sure either?! I read the "about us" page, it seems like a copy and paste from somewhere. Definately doesn't seem too legit to me, but, since all they are really doing is taking the orders and SOS is fulfilling them, I guess it doesn't take much professionalism.
  9. Save on Scents has a private label program to re-sell their oils, that may be the situation there.
  10. Hi Jameel, Have you ever thought of approaching a rep or showroom agency to showcase your line to retailers? If you have a unique or high quality product and it fits in to their expertise, you may have some luck there. Generally, they're looking for creative packaging, top notch marketing materials (i.e. catalogs, order forms, pop displays etc.) and your experience in the business, which is quite a length of time for you. I visited the Minneapolis Gift Mart in January of this year, and noticed that the majority of the lines I saw are categorized as "luxury" which is where the unique packaging and fragrances come in to play. Other than that, old fashioned face-to-face marketing to retailers never hurts either! Best of luck to you, keep on keepin on!
  11. $100?! I'd say that is an extremely acceptable minimum for retailers!! I've seen companies with $1000+ minimums. Just be confident in your own products, don't let 1 retailer dictate what you produce. There are literally thousands of others that I'm sure would have absolutely no problem placing a $100 order with you, but, much to all of our demise, theres no "easy" button so-to-say to get in touch with all of them!!
  12. Sorry--But I'm new to pillar making:tiptoe: Do you want the molds to be close together or not?
  13. Hey all, just got done tesing Henri Bendel Vanilla Bean, and the Quince types from IFT....WOW!!! I'm making mottled pillars and these fragrances are absolutely amazing!! The Vanilla Bean is like a masculince vanilla, and the Quince is almost indescribable, sweet, but light, just amazing!
  14. Has anyone tried the Voluspa Jasmine Brown Sugar or Saijo Persimmon types?? I received some samples but won't have a chance to test for awhile, so stopping by here to see if any of you have!! Thanks!
  15. I've been testing 1274 with 8% FO, and not getting a real great hot throw. Any advice?? How does the 1274 perform for you? TIA!
  16. If you want a consistant supply of the beanpot jars, or for any jar from libbey for that matter, check out riekes distributing!!
  17. Hi All, For those of you that use 1274, what types of wicks do you find best performing? I was ready to purchase flat braid wicks, but thought I'd ask around first. TIA!
  18. It really depends on what site/market your planning to advertise on. I've heard of people paying thousands a week for a banner ad, some pay a few bucks. Find out what your budget is, and advertise on websites that best fit your target market. I think it is safe to say there is no "average".
  19. If you're truly upset about it, and if your bank doesnt charge anything, when/if she cashes it, stop payment on it. Granted, you may be making things worse, but if it were me, I'd forget about the $30.00 and make sure everything is in writing next time, otherwise it's words against words.
  20. Just gotta say, I love CandleTech!! You all have been so helpful and empowering, I just ordered a bunch of supplies to jump in the mottled pillar arena. I'm super excited!! I've seen a big void in local stores where there are virtually no pillars, just filled containers, which is fine, because thats just opportunity!! Thanks again everbody for your kindness, help, and empowerment!
  21. I'm looking to have a finished product similar to the "look" of these http://www.paddywax.com/public/cat2205.aspx I've never made pillar candles, so this is somewhat of a new venture, I've been searching and searching to find recommendations on a type of wax to use.
  22. Hi All, I'm planning on purchasing a bunch of FO's from Natures Garden, any must haves? Do you find NG FO's are good quality?? Thanks!!
  23. Hi All, Does anyone know of any suppliers for the Abercrombie Fierce Type?? TIA!
  24. I just was quoted $32.71 for 1 case of C-3 to North Dakota. If she wants to eat over $20 bucks a case for shipping wax to people, and it indeed is the C-3, I can assure you she will be losing money. I've worked with a rep from Cargill, and suppliers do not make that kind of money on wax, but, hey, if she has a way to ship it to me for 10 bucks, I'm in.
