  1. See? This is what happens. Making candles makes people lose their minds :laugh2: Sorry, couldn't resist.
  2. I've done the same thing, but with new glassware. Think "oh, these are so cute" and pick up a dozen. Then start testing in a few and the rest are still sitting on the shelves because the logistics just don't work out. Keep in mind, I'm not a container person though. I don't have the base skills of which wicks will work decently in my wax in what size jars and such. Each time is starting from scratch and I pull my hair out every time...lol
  3. If you figure out how to make a profit in the beginning with a safe quality candle, please let me know the secret. I'm down a few thousand dollars...lol. Welcome to the board Best advice? start reading and researching.
  4. Thanks for the pic. I've seen those type lids on jars but had never seen the inside. Interesting...
  5. I agree with Vicky on the name. My first thought is what's a Mia Bella site doing here?? I don't know if you're looking for spotters/eyes for the site or not but I noticed a couple things right off the bat. On the about us page, that first paragraph is very confusing. I'm not great at the "English lessons" so I don't remember what it's called. It switches from the "I" and "we" point of views. I made the mistake of clicking on the blog and there's aren't any links I can find to get back to your site.
  6. If they're newly made maybe just letting them air out for a couple weeks might help. Does the rubber piece come off with the lid or are you sniffing with the lid on? Guess I don't understand what kinda contraption you're using
  7. I have a few of the teflon prestos and not had any debris issues with them. Then again, I don't use them that much, my turkey fryer get a much tougher workout.
  8. Good to see ya! I think Top went over to the other side. Seems like I've seen him post in the veggie section
  9. Oh, I just noticed... a few tiny things On the Gift Ideas page... 3 Goat's Mild Soaps On the mens page... Hey guys, Soap Just for you! Manly scents and Bigger bars. On the soap page, no picture for the Castile soap
  10. Your site is very nice! Easy to navigate pleasing to browse through. I understand that you can't do anything about the shipping /total thing, but making it flat rate and stating that on every page makes a big difference. I've seen many sites that wont give shipping cost until the end and they DON'T get my business. I refuse to give my cc info until I know the exact total I'll be charged. Between fearing that the order will submit before I see the charge and getting disgusted that I've wasted the time to hunt down my purse, dig out the card and type all that info in only to find out the shipping is outrageous - I just go shop somewhere else.
  11. Here's another use for Coke. Our water company told us this tip last week. If you suspect your toilet tank may be leaking into the bowl, pour a can of coke into the tank. Wait a couple hours and check. The water in the bowl will be discolored if there's any leakage at all. Ok, I know it's totally off the subject, but Coke post reminded me of it
  12. Oh, no, there aren't wick holes. Since floaters need tabbed wicks I use the same method as my other silicone molds. I poke an initial hole with a straight pin, then stick a rod in it. I use lengths of cut clothes hanger wire, from 4" to 10" depending on the mold. I use steel wool on the rods to remove any varnish or whatever it is that coats them. And if the rod doesn't stand straight (which is often since I rarely get the holes perfect) I use a popcicle stick with a hole in it to steady it
  13. Thanks ya'll Now if I can get the wicking down and figure out the right temps to pour the base color at I'll be tickled pink...lol The molds are from vanyulay and they're terrific to work with. The company and the molds! www.vanyulay.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=28&idproduct=114
  14. I finally got my rose molds. They are wonderful. These are just for wick testing but I couldn't resist playing with colors

It really stinks when your own family makes you feel betrayed
  16. I only make it for just my guy, so there's no instructions. When he runs out, I just drop the slice in and let him go at it.
  17. Only 2 hrs?? I have one that's 2 hrs away, the other is 5 1/2...lol Many people here would kill to be within a couple hours of suppliers.
  18. I've done it once. Needed to make 60 mini wedding cake votives in about 5 days, with only one mold to use...LOL. I ran across a smaller wedding cake candle that I like better (cheapie poor quality candle but had a nice shape). So I bought a mold making kit and made a half dozen mold from it. Got em done just barely in time! Now the molds are in a box on the shelf. Maybe they'll get used again some day. It was an interesting experience making them though
  19. Thanks Judy! That makes perfect sense.
  20. I made some in mugs as well. Also made a roll in a pringles can then sliced it for instant refills to his mug.
