  4. LOne Star Candle Supply carries a hot pink liquid dye... all you need is one drop... it's really hot pink when thw wax cools. I love it!
  5. I love J50. it has an awesome cold & Hot throw. The zinc wicks work best for me.
  6. I love them! They look great. Where did you get those tins? (if you don't mind me asking) I'm currently testing out the regular round tins and I'm pulling my hair out trying to get the righ wick in them! I hae a lot of hangup left on the sides! Any advice would grealy be appreciated!
  7. My tins are 3 inches across & 3 inches tall.
  8. Both colored & uncolored. Light scents & heavy scents. I've tried 44z,51z, lx16, CD8, I'm testing ECO8 now.

Any suggestions wuld be greatly appreciated as I have 2 1/2 weeks left to produce 100 of these buggers to be sold in a shop! I wish they(shop) would have picked the 8oz JJ instead! I'm trying to avoid double wicking! TIA!

  11. Any suggestions on what wicks I can try in the wine & champagne glasses? I'm using J50, J223 & IGI4627. (still testing & trying to decide - I'm gearing towards the J50) I've tried Zinc wicks, & am somewhat pleased. Just looking to see if anyone has better luck wih other wicks... TIA

  13. Peak's is the abslute BEST! This is my favorite scent (for now)!
  14. Thanks, I will definitely try some Crisco.
  15. I'm new at making candles, I'm using J50 in 8oz jelly jars w/ 44-24-18 Zinc wicks, I'm also using 4oz flower pots & 8 oz tins with same wax & same wicks. In my 16 oz jars I'm using 51-32-18 Zinc wics. I also have some Eco-8 (Which I haven't tried yet) My candles smell great, I have a good burn pool. (with lotsa mushrooming & wet spots - I am preheating my jars in the oven) Do ya'll have any suggestions on a different wick to try? I've gotten my first orders today! I'd like to give them a good prodct so they'll keep coming back for more. I'm placing an order today from Peaks & Lonestar - I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Please help!
  16. Does one or the other have a better hot throw???
  17. Thank ya'll so much for the input. I guess I feel like I have to keep up with the competition in my area. A friend of a friend uses 3oz in her soy candles, everybody is going nuts over them. I even bought one to check it out. One candle fraganced my whole (2 story) house! But it had some crazy flames in the beginning (from to much fo I assume)
  18. I'm using j50 in 8 oz jelly jars. I'm using Zinc wicks (44) My candles look beautiful for a day or two after making them but after that I have oil spots inside that are very noticeable. (I'm using about 1.5-2oz FO for every lb of wax) But I'm afraid that any less fo will not be a highly scented candle. I also have wet spots! I preheat my jars evry time (I've also tried using a heat gun) with same results. I have friends and co-workers ready to place orders but I'm not comfortable selling them like this. Please help! I've spent alot of money buying supplies & I don't want to get discouraged with my new Hobby. :undecided
  19. Warming you jars is silly?? I just started making candles & I was told that I had to warm my jars, otherwise the wax doesn't really stick to the sides. Which I'e already experienced, I didn't warm them enough ( I suppose) & I messed them up. Please let me knoe if I'm taking an extra step I shouldn't be. Thanks!:rolleyes2
  20. Thanks for everyone's input... I'll definitely check out the named companies. Thanks again!
  21. I recently started making candles, just for myself & gifts so far... I was wondering if I can use a triple layer with J-50? (different colors & scents)
  22. Hi! I'm in Louisiana & wanted to know if anyone can suggest where to get containers (4oz, 8oz, & 16 oz) without paying an arm and a leg in shipping. I bought some recently from Alabaster and paid $30 bucks! Please help!
  23. I'm using 6" Zinc (51-32-18) wicks I purchased from Lonestar. My wax is melting in about 2 minutes. I let the candles sit for about 3 days before I lit them. Should I be using more than 1oz of FO to a pound of wax? I'd really like to try to make some more but I don't want to waste my money if they aren't going to smell up the room. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  24. I made my first batch of candles last week, I used J50, & some oils from LoneStar, I heated my wax to 175 degrees (in my presto pot) I then let it cool to 165, I poured the wax in a glass pyrex measuring cup, added my color then scent. I then poured it in the container (6.5 oz jelly jar) They smell really good, but when I lit the candle, I can't smell a thing! (I used 1oz for 1lb of wax) Please help! What am I doing wrong?
