  1. I have had just a few of my candles come back that the customer has not burned the initial first burn until the melt pool reaches the edge of the jar. This causes the problem of a tunnel. Either that, or they are clipping the wick to short. After I get the candle, I will light it and it burns fine. So I want to add another label (since nobody seems to read the warning label) that gives these directions but in a short, easy to understand way. Something like this: For optimal performance, burn candle for 3-3.5 hours. I don't know what else to say other than "burn until melt pool reaches the edge of the jar" (?) Anyone else have a label with a similar statement?
  2. Some good news here....had a show last weekend and sales were up 50% from last year!
  3. Maybe I should reinvestigate JS. Haven't used them in quite a long time. I have switched waxes since I used them last so maybe some of them will throw for me. Thx!
  4. Ok, I have to order something else at Peaks I wanted to try. I tried the Pumpkin Spice latte from ICS and couldn't get it to throw.
  5. I am looking for a strong Pumpkin Spice Latte or coffee scent. Any recommendations?
  6. Kandlekrazy, I am interested in how they compare! As I said earlier in the thread Moonworks Pinion Pine is the right scent, just not as strong. Hoping this one from Candle Source will hit the mark! Course, I don't use them as a supplier (yet) but will do what I have to do. I have a big order due in a couple weeks.
  7. oops, I made a mistake. It was 8-GRAN-ONES who used many of Berts oils. Yes I am so sad she is OOB. I am trying to dupe her Christmas Tree. It was very nice. Strong, fresh (almost cool, like candy cane added) Pinyon Pine from Moonworks is close but not strong enough. I would love to try Fillmores. I currently do not purchase any oils from there tho but have to find something soon.
  8. Candybe, Have you tried Berts Christmas Tree? and how does Fillmore's Compare to it if you have?
  9. I too, have had my design stolen from me. I did email her. I told her why not have fun with this business and come up with your own design? Why steal mine? I then applied for a trademark and she is out of business now. Took a year, but she is out of business, lol. I WIN!
  10. Moody Glen, so why don't you use it anymore, if I may ask? Did you go to a different program or just not designing anymore?
  11. OldGlory, Does the Apple Jack smell like the Claire Burke version?
  12. I really am missing berts oils too! I have 5 pounds left of her creme brulee. (Nope, can't have them!) To me it smells of Butterscotch, so maybe try oils named that? I have spent so much $$ trying to finds dupes. Even when you send them to a fragrance manufacturer they don't get it right. I sure wish bert would have sold her line to another company instead of just closing. Maybe she will open up again and that's why she didn't sell?? Wishful thinking! I need: Honey Spice Cake, Candy Cane, Christmas Tree, Spiced Pear....
  13. I do too. Mostly my website customers are locals and in my small town (with a walmart right down the road from my shop) I can't get double my wholesale. These fancy stores that I sell to can easily get that plus they add 10% so I just do my thing in my small town and they do what they can get. I have had very few customers from the towns that my wholesale accounts are in order off my website because it's cheaper. By the time shipping is added it evens out pretty much. You have to price competitively with all the online businesses all over the internet. Everyone knows when you walk into these cute brick and mortar stores you are going to have to pay more because of atmosphere, location, etc.
  14. I use Quickbooks Online. I have had my computer crash to many times and don't want to lose everything ever again! I have used the Quickbooks Program ($199)(forget the version) and I may just purchase it and save it to an external HD. I lke that better than the online version. Much more detailed. For now it will be ok, until I find it on sale.
  15. Does anyone know about this company? Are their products any good? How about pricing? It seems you can't purchase from their website but they do wholesale and have a storefront. Just checking out the competition....
  16. I have aprons, but I still tend to prefer my Goodwill sweatshirts! It is usually cold in my shop at first until I get it "fired up" so I wear a sweatshirt and my old jeans. I feel kinda funny tho when a customer comes in to the gift shop and I walk in with "my pouring clothes" on! An apron would really solve this. I could just slip it off when a customer comes in...
  17. Would that happen to smell like KY's Wild Honeysuckle?
  18. Jackbenimble, I have been surprised before after a good cure! I guess I better just stick to the Honeysuckle Jasmine. I have an order to fill anyway and why "fix what aint' broke?" I guess I just get bored. Better to be bored than disappointed!
  19. I have been waiting for someone to give reviews on the Honeysuckle. I have used the Honeysuckle Jasmine for a few years and wanted to try the plain Honeysuckle. I purchase in 5lb. quantities and keep putting the HJ in then taking it out and putting the plain HS in...I know, don't buy 5 lbs. if I haven't tried it...but darn I don't want to just get a sample and then love it and wish I didn't get the HJ. Any reviews/descriptions to help me out?
  20. Welcome! I love creating new styles...keeps me on my toes!
  21. I wish I only offered 12 or so scents....but they want more...they want more! I offer all 50 of my scents and it does cost alot to have those in stock all the time. I figured I would need to keep ALL of the scents I offer, moving. Why have 38 scents that are on the shelf just sitting there?
  22. Yes, I was having trouble last night with it. It was acting funny. Maybe they were working on something. I thought it was my computer though. Every once in a while I have to use the alignment wizard and get it back on track. Been using them for years. Their design program has come a long way over the years. Love it now! I use a couple of other programs for things they don't have, but for the most part I use mainly maestro.
  23. Yup, I bring em all! I sell all those like Pumpkin, Cinnamon, Apple Spice, etc. year round. I don't rename except if it has the word "Christmas" in it.
  24. I can't remember which company's F/O I had at one time (just a sniffy, and can't remember using it or selling it on here??) But NOW I want to try it. It had to either be BCN or Candlemakers. Anyone have a fav between these two companies?
  25. This one jar in particular is pretty much an exclusive for her store. I don't sell them in my store and haven't on my website. The store owner was on a search for a jar and I found this style for her. I do have a pic and pricing on my site but I have never sold any. I guess a different location has different tastes and styles. This area seems to be kinda primitive. I brought a new style of jar candle (similar, but different) with me and she was not interested in switching. She is confident this will blow over and said she can't afford to lose the customer base for this jar. Ok then. Moving forward she placed her Christmas order and I am happy about that!
