  4. You guys are always so helpful. I always know where to go with my questions. Thank you everyone for answering my question. I will check back with the manufacturer...but their site says it should be tested. It only gives out measurements for candles. I will write to them and ask about how much to add to the soap. thanks again!
  5. Thanks so much for writing back guys! Right now I am using LOTP base. I plan on switching soon, but I have to use up my supply first. I'm on the east coast. I get my fragrances from Peak but I think shipping would be too much for soap base. Any recommendations of a base on the east coast? Maybe it is the base that I'm using that makes it feel oily. When I touch the soap I get "soap" all over my hands and feel like I need to wash my hands right away. Is that normal? I think I was adding too little fragrance to the soap according to you guys you are adding way more. My problem is I do smaller batches so it's hard to know how much to add, I kind of wing it. I use a measuring spoon and a measuring cup. So how much would you say to add to one cup of melted soap?
  6. I have another question for all of you experts. I recently had a customer ask me if my soap was safe for an 18 month old and I don't know the answer. I think that it would be safe without fragrance. But is color ok? thanks!
  7. Hi Everyone! I switched over to Peak fragrances for my M&P soap and I love them. I know each fragrance is different. But, in general, about how much fragrance do you add to your soap base? I notice if I add too much the soap feels oily. I want a highly fragranced soap, but not an oily soap. Does anyone have any recommendations on how much fragrance to add? Thanks!! Lynn
  8. Are the flat rate envelopes you are referring to the priority mail envelopes? Or are there international flat rate envelopes different from the priority mail ones?
  9. Thank you for your quick reply. Everyone is so helpful on this site. I have one more question. Are soaps considered perishable items?
  10. I am just starting to sell my M&P soap. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions or custom forms that need to be filled out to ship a soap bar from US to Canada? It's just one bar and I would ship it first class mail. I looked on usps.com and can't find much of an answer an thought it would be best to ask the experts!
  11. I am looking to find new molds for melt & pour soap making. Does anyone have any good suppliers they would like to share?
  12. Out of curiosity, was it a clear or opaque soap that it happend to? It seems that only my clear base does it and I was wondering if was the same for you. I'm trying to use a fan on some new soaps that I poured. Hopefully that helps. Fall is coming soon, so things should get better.
  13. Thanks guys for all of your input. It is greatly appreciated. I guess we will never know exactly what causes this, I may have to change soap bases. I'm in New Jersey, does anyone recommend someone on the east coast for Melt & Pour base? I order fragrances from Peak, but they are kind of far away to order soap. Shipping would be crazy.
  14. Here is a supplier that I have used for MP molds too: http://stores.ebay.com/Specialty-Soap-Shop
  15. Hi everyone! I'm sort of new, been a lurker for quite some time. I have been making melt & pour soap for a few years now. I have an idea of what might be causing this problem, but I would like some expert advice. After my soap sits around a couple of weeks some of my soap (not all) starts to get water beads on it. It's like peach fuzz all over the soap. It seems to happen to the clear soap that I use. I'm not sure I ever saw it happen to the white. I use Life of the Party base. I think it might be one of 2 things. 1 - The soap base has too much water in it. I went to their site and it says that this may happen because glycerin soap has a high water content. (well they should fix their base if this may spontaneously happen!) OR 2 - I added too much fragrance. How much should i be adding? I asked Life of the Party and they say it is a personal preference, they like to add "a lot" so no help there. They are horrible! Like I said it doesn't happen all the time. I am beginning to sell my soap and am so afraid that this might happen after I ship them out to one of my customers. Please help. Maybe I should switch bases???
  16. I have made them before where you put bath salts in your mold and pour over melted soap. That was using a fair amount of salt. It looks great at first BUT after a couple of weeks, the bar begins to get wet and mushy. The salt starts to disolve and then you have a nasty mess.
