  1. I think I'm going to try using 1 1/4 FO pp,instead of 1 1/2.Loren said thats how much he puts in his is the 1 1/4 but the max is 1 1/2...Thanks everyone for your opinions and advice.
  2. The reason I use the saran wrap is so the tarts wont mark up the cello.
  3. One other thing I always heard its best to store candles in a cool place should I have them in a wrm place because I do store them in a cool place until I sell them.
  4. Thanks! I see youre from Ky so am I and the weather is crazy here wear shorts one day then a winter coat the next..So do you think this will hurt my business and/or do you think the clear wrap is drawing it out.
  5. I started out using the little zip lock bags for my tarts but noticed you could smell them really bad through the bag then after awhile the smell was almost gone so I started wrapping mine individually in saran wrap then placing two together and wrapping in cello wrap now I have a problem. I unwrapped one of the packs and oil was standing on top of the tart and the saran wrap is very oily aslo had some color than faded out onto it,but the ones that I wrapped individually in the saran wrap and placed 6 in a cello bag are not like that,so it shouldnt be the saran wrap is drawing the scent out or it would in the bag of 6,What could cause this, could they be sweating.I use the preblended wax from Candle Source as I have for over 2 years now and I use the max. of FO which says 1 1/2 pp of wax.I have always gotten and still do get great compliments on my tarts it just worries me about these being oily,I dont know what to do I have to have 500 packs for a senior citizens group next week but dont want them to have oily tarts but dont really want to go down on my FO either because of the compliments. Please help.I dont know what to do and I need to get started on this order. Thanks in Advance to anyone that can help.
  6. I have a large hurricane mold,Could I use that and then grub the outside of it (like making a cake candle) to get the same look I would with the grubby silicone mold for electric candles,I know I would have to make a hole for the light socket but wouldnt it be the same?
  7. WoW Balloons,How? I have a large mold that is a hurricane mold ordered from Peaks I had thought about rying to use and only fill so far but I love the grubby look and I dont think this would work..Thanks Donita for your reply!
  8. Questions on electric candles? What size electric candle is the most popular? Does it usually take alot of wax? Also on the ones at flexiblemolds.com Is there a place to insert the light socket left out or how do you insert it after removing it from the mold? Thanks!
  9. Are electric candles really hard to make or is it as simple as I have read to just pour wax into mold ,take out and add the light socket W/H cord? I have been putting off making them but when I read it sounds so simple.Where is the best place to buy a nice mold that someone has actually had experience with and knows they will come out easily? I would like to try these but dont have much patience to fool with something that wont release from a mold and would like to get a nice mold for the money. Thanks so much for any information you could give me if you dont want to give your info.then please p.m. me...Thanks again!
  10. I'm looking for a FO "Sweet Temptation(s) It's a V/S type Have only found one place that carried it but because of the FP being below 200 it has to ship ground which is almost 10.00 to ship one 4 oz. bottle. If anyone knows who carries this I would greatly appreciate it..Thanks in Advance!
  11. Thank You So So Much!!! I Greatly Appreciate It !!!sure Glad Someone Could Help Me .....thanks Again!
  12. What additives? I tried using it without FO and using only color It has a big shine to it and its really oily.Didnt want to add FO because my friend had tried using it and brought her tart over in a zip lock bag the tart was white again and all of the color and FO was liquified standing in the bottom of the bag.So I was trying to see what it would do about holding color.
  13. It just says 130 MP Container/Votive ParaffinDescription: Perfect for votives and all types of container candles. It is a high quality straight parafin so it is semi-translucent and mottles nicely without additives. It blends nicely with most additives so that you can acheive different looks.Type: ParaffinMeltpoint: 130 MPPrimary Use: Container candles and votivesPackaging: 10-11 lb. slabsWick Suggestion: Zinc core, cotton core or Heinz corelessRecommended Pouring Temperature: 180-190 degreesInstructions for Use: Heat wax to 200 degrees. Add scent and color and let wax cool down to 180 degrees. Wax will give a smooth looking effect when adding the additives and without additives you will get the mottled effect in the candles.
  14. Wax was ordered from C & S by mistake what can I add to be able to use it for containers and/or tarts? And How much of ? do I add?? I have 50 lbs of this wax and all I do is containers and tarts. This is what the company states about the wax on the wax information. It is a 130 MP,ParaffinManufacturer - Japan Containers, votives, tartsTransulecent ShinyHigh quality straight paraffin so it is semi transculent and mottles nicely without additives.Holds more fragrance than the 125 MP.It blends nicely with most additives so you can achieve different looks.Releases from containers so its good for refills.160 degrees for mottling,180 if additives are used.Maximum scent .75 oz. per lb.Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
  15. I added the color at 175 as I always do and poured soon after.I did not add any FO at all just checking the wax out.All she knows is that she ordered the votive/tart wax from C & S It is in slabs and when you cut the slab into its very hard and looks crystallized. These tarts have a high shine,I have never seen anything like it and I have made tarts for years.I tried a votive and its the same way very oily and very shiney.
  16. My friend bought some tart/votive wax from C&S to make tarts. She called to ask me to help her she says it wont hold scent and color she brought a tart over in a small bag and the tart was back to white with all of the color and scent standing in the bottom of the bag liquified so instead of wasting my scent I melted some of the wax and just added color (i used a very small piece of a color block)poured like I always have my tarts in my molds and it is very very oily the entire top is oily and has a big shine. What causes this and/or what can be added to this wax to be able to use it.She has 50 lbs of this stuff. She called C & S and was told that their wax was fine but she could send it back but have to pay the shipping which would almost not be worth it..If anyone could help It would be greatly appreciated.
  17. When I made them I purchased my at www.candlekitchen.com.You may want to try that..
  18. Thanks! Yes I tried it for tarts and I had to leave them in the freezer for a little while before they would pop out but then they are just too soft.
  19. I am needing to make some tarts for someone all I have is J50 container wax which I know is a soft wax that will look ugly after setting in the little bags she wants them in Is there soemthing I can mix with the wax besides another wax to make them harder so they will last in the little bags. I have also heard that tarts will have a better scent throw if they are made with J50 Is this true? Thanks in Advance!
  20. I made some tarts scented Red Hot Cinnamon ended up spilling some FO dont have anymore and not a supplier close by Was wondering the cinnamon oil from the grocery store used to make candy could I add a few drops of that to the wax or not? If anyone could help I would appreciate it...Thanks in Advance
  21. Yes It is harder than container wax but looks really nice in the jar,no shrinkage and no wet spots either , I think I will pour into another jar I have a use a wick.Would be great to be able to use the same wax for the votive/pillars and containers.Saves Money! Thanks for your reply.
  22. I had votive/pillar wax left in my pot after pouring and I needed my pot so I poured it into a glass hexagon jar I had and it adhered to the glass great so I thought I would go ahead and do a repour very small amount needed to see how it would end up and it looks fine can't see if it will burn or not because of course I didnt have a wick in it.Was wondering does anyone use votive/pillar for containers and how would the burn/melt pool be if it had a wick?
  23. I Am Needing To Make Several 2.5 Round Pillars And I Dont Have That Many Molds Or Time To Order Any Was Wondering If Someone Could Tell Me What I Could Use As A Mold...thanks In Advance.
