  1. i also use Pourette. great prices on chips and shipping!
  2. if anyone has a carbon monoxide detector, has it ever gone off after making candles? i made candles yesterday and in the middle of the night our detector went off. this isn't the first time but we can't get a carbon monoxide reading anywhere in the house...any suggestions? thanks!
  3. what size zincs for a 8 oz jj?
  4. for those of yall that use J223, what wick do you find to gives you the best throw? right now i'm using CD8's but I was thinking about playing around with some different kinds. oh yeah, i only make 8oz jj's. tia.
  5. i use CD 6's. the first burn seemed kinda slow to me but after the second and third burn it catched up and burned great. the 8's are def. too lage.
  6. i just use the regluar $1 a can stuff from wal-mart...don't know the brand. i think maybe the logo is a red, blue and yellow circle...nothing special though. just a couple of coats...takes about 10 mintues. glad i could help!
  7. i'm boring i know, but i just spray paint my black. the spray paint works really well and is smooth and even. i use black and then tie a colored ribon around it
  8. ya i was terrified of the heat gun. used it for the first time last night and let me tell you...AMAZING! the temperature settings are really high but your stuff's not going to get that hot unless you let it sit in one spot for a while. i used it last night to level off the top of my containers and you just go over each candle about 30 seconds and you're good to go. i would assume it would be the same for cleaning. just leave it on there for a min. the wax melts in seconds, and wipe it away.
  9. i've posted this somewhere before but the thing i LOVE the most is my old koozies i have lying around. some people didn't know what i was talking about so here it is.... http://www.bestimpressions.com/koozie.html maybe they're not as big in other parts on the world...but here in the south, every function you go to hands out free koozies. i make 8oz jj's and they fit perfectly into them for cooling
  10. hot glue here...the only time i had one come loose is when i had my oven on BROIL instead of WARM and to top it off, i reached into the oven with my bare freakin' hand to get the jar and nearly burned my fingers off...they peeled for weeks! i'll NEVER to that again... but hot glue works great
  11. how does that tell me what's the equal? :embarasse
  12. i've searched but i can't really find what i'm looking for. is there a chart that would compare LX's to CD's or can anyone tell me what CD would be equal to an LX 24? Thanks
  13. I don't know how far south you are but Bitter Creek South is in Houston and I recieve my packages in 1 day!! I haven't tried the scents out yet but I've heard nothing but good things about them on this board.
  14. ya, i was planning on ordering from bittercreek. i just wanted to make sure there wasn't something peaks replaced j223 for that was almost identical. thanks
  15. since peaks no longer carries J223, is there a wax anywhere close to it that they do carry? did you have to change your wicks, noticed a throw difference?
  16. well i'm from TX...maybe yall don't have them but you know a koozie like what you use to keep your drink cold i have probably 50 free ones i get from places for advertising and they are about 1/2 an inch thick and work perfect for my jars.
  17. i use those thick koozies you get free from places and my jars fit perfectly into them HTH
  18. 1. make sure your oven is on warm not broil! 2. don't reach in and try to grab the jar with your bare hand (expecially since the oven was on broil! ) and then try to grab it again after you just burned the crap out of your hand!
  19. peaks performance blend container wax is out of stock I NEED SOME my roomates mom asked me to make a bunch of candles for her for christmas gifts and darnit i'm out of wax! does anyone know how long stuff like this is usually out of stock?
  20. thanks for looking! i use j223 and color chips...1 chip per lb. i'm thinking of switching to liquid but i know it will be difficult to get some of my colors
  21. Hope this works... nothing exciting but this is all anyone around here will buy. the first picture is what i mainly do...just plain jj's. starting at the bottom left: fruit slices pink sugar jamaica me crazy sugar plum berries vanilla mint top row: sweet pea magnolia pumpkin spice patchouli the second picture is just a few tins i did for christmas... hot cocoa sugar plum berries vanilla mint home for the holidays ENJOY!
  22. my dad bought me a heat gun tonight and it has 2 settings...750 degrees and 1000 degrees. is this right? it seems REALLY hot but i'm sure you just leave it on your candle for no time at all. i would be using it to heat my jars and to smooth out the top of my jars. is that hot enough to catch your wick on fire or damage the wick at all? also can you use this just with your jars sitting on the kitchen table? i know that sounds dumb but i know a lot of you work in your kitchen so i was just wondering if you only use your gun in one certain area or if you ever leave it on long enough for the heat to effect anything...
  23. i use a glue gun but i've recently figured out that you have to warm the jar and let it sit for a couple of minutes and the glue will stick back. i used to heat my jars in the oven and pour the second i got them out and the glue would be melted and i would pull the wick right off the bottom...just let it sit a min and tug the wick to make sure it's secure before you pour
  24. well to actually answer the question.. i use about 4 or 5 strands of raffia and tie them in a bow around my jj. It's really simplistic but I think it's really cute. I just use a mailing label on the lid to label the scents. if i remember when i get home i'll try to post a picture.
  25. sorry i was talking about the votive blend
