  1. We own a General/Rustic Country store in Ellijay, GA--(small town) & business has been worse for us this year than in the previous 5 years. We've had to ask for credit on merchandise we've never had to ask for. The customers just aren't there. The weather was awful this summer & I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. For me I'm struggling with my candles, too. Two other stores in town started carrying Bean Pod & another soy line not to mention the Y***'s & others. So many lines! I think with the weather cooling off & Fall on it's way things will pick up. Are you in a small town?
  2. What seems to be the top 5 selling body/linen sprays for you folks? I live in North Georgia and the most popular scents for me in candles, etc, are apple, cinnamon & vanilla. I have sold a few sprays but we have a small store with very limited space for my 'stuff'. I find I get myself in trouble by only making one or two of a scent at a time and having more scents available---this approach is not working very well. My display looks sparse but it's filled with different things. Our shop is a rustic general store catering mostly to people who have cabins in the mountains. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm in the right spot--sorry if I placed this in the wrong thread. I'm still learning.
  3. How long do you all find the body/linen sprays made with cyclo last on a store shelf? Our shop gets very hot in the summer so I imagine that makes a difference. Any words of wisdom?
  4. Thanks so much. I have a jumoing off place now. I'll give your suggestions a try.
  5. I've tried making a candle for a customer but can't find exactly what she's looking for. She wants a candle that "smells like her new cabin or fresh cut pine tree sap". Any ideas? She's not happy with any regular pine scent since she wants that "new cabin" smell. Thanks!
  6. I have a customer who wants the smell of pine sap/ "new cabin" and fresh cut pine wood. I made her a pine scented candle and that's not what she wants. I've never seen this scent but has anyone?
  7. That could be the case. I just got a Presto Pot to use as a melter. I heat to 180 to 190 and pour it into an aluminum pot to color/scent. It may have gotten too cool. It makes sense this could be a pocket of FO since the other candles are fine. Thanks so much for your reply. I'll take more care to watch the temp and mix longer from now on.
  8. I can't find an answer to this particular problem in other threads about seeping. I made Buttermilk Pancake (BCN FO) in CB Advanced, 1 1/2 OZ FO per Lb, 2 drops of Ivory Liquid for color and added Stars (made in embed molds) on top with Chocolate FO. They were in the Anchor Hocking rectangle 8OZ glass containers . They looked great and I let them cure for 2 weeks before I tested one. It burned beautifully for over a week--(2 ECO 6 wicks). Then halfway down the candle it oozed a good half inch of FO. Smelled just like maple syrup! Overnight the FO disappeared and was back the next day. Now there is only a sheet of FO on top. Any ideas? The other 4 look good but haven't been burned yet. I'm so upset as these are the prettiest candles I've made and I'm still new to this. Could heat cause this in only one candle and should I melt and add more wax?
