  1. Looks great! I use that wax and use the LX18 for a lot of fo. However, when you're testing try a 20 with it. I've started using 20 more than 18 lately.
  2. Really love your colors with this one.
  3. Thanks for starting this topic and for the link. I know someone who adores this scent and would love to be treated to some goodies in it.
  4. I recently tried the AH Warm Apple Pie in paraffin. My most reliable tester said that she wasn't impression by the ht of it at all. I had high hopes for this one and usually get good results from AH oils. I guess I'll look at the KY version and give that one a try.
  5. I've found expired powdered milk in my cabinets, and it had a funky smell. Looked a little too yeller, too. I'd use what you have for yourself or for someone who wants some to use now, but otherwise toss it. Not worth messing with.
  6. Indeed! This country is wayyyyyyyyy overdue for tort reform. When I taught hs street law and business, even my students found the frivolous lawsuits outrageous. ---and these were kids raised on free everything.
  7. I'm burning Apple Jack & Peel from there and love it. And I adore Pumpkin Crunch Cake in wax as well.
  8. Yowza. I bought 8 oz last spring and didn't soap it until fall to use for some Christmas presents. I have had so many recipients ask me for it in a spray, lotion, more soap, you name it. I haven't had a chance to look but know that $45 lb is out of my league. BTW--it's been a few years, but how does the Andalusian Olive Blossom from I think AH compare?
  9. Thank you for sharing. I used to use a couple of the fo from there and loved them in both wax and soap. I need some Select Shades so will probably cruise the fo as well.
  10. I need a coconut for cp. Who has used this one? Does the scent stick?
  11. Designer dupes are the only scents that I ever have requests for--tops are Amazing Grace, Amber Romance, and Be Delicious. I rarely sell to men or for men but get a request--Drakkar, Pleasures, GIT. There's another one that I can't recall that the same woman always asks me about. I haven't done it because I found that the couple of times I bought an fo that she asked for she bought nothing. Just idle crap talk. Citrus--I have a couple of Satsuma Guava fans that like a spray with their soap. Personally, I love CLV but didn't have any success at all with it in any product. I desperately need a good coconut that will stick in cp.
  12. Really pretty! That's one fo I've never tried from CS. Your beautiful color combo/swirls now makes me want to.
  13. I mostly mix 10 lbs at a time and sometimes 12. I use a bowl I bought from Pampered Chef. I love this bowl--it has a pour spout, a lid that actually fits and accommodates the pour spout, and is marked on the inside with cups and liters. I don't mix more than this for a couple of reasons--but making sure that the oils are completely mixed is the greatest concern. With a batch this size and with the container I use, I am able to feel confident in the mixing before I remove however much I'm going to use.l
  14. I do pretty much the same thing as 8-Gran-Ones. Works like a charm.
  15. Southern Garden Scents has beautiful fo. I didn't realize that they had started SassyGirl until I recently went to reorder Amber Romance, Stress Relief, and a couple of others.
  16. Several years ago a student gave me a similar candle for Vday with the candy hearts. It was gel with the candies not in the gel. There was an insert between the gel and the candies. At the time I was unfamiliar with gel candles and couldn't see that there was something separating the candy and gel and only saw it after burning it. I don't remember the company name, but the candle definitely looked better than the one shown here. Burned forever, too, and got a good burn from what I recall.
  17. I'm not a gung ho vanilla person but had to give it a try after many rave reviews and requests for it. I put it in paraffin pillars and votives and have to say WOW! While testing, I had a pillar on the front screened porch (ocean side) and could smell it clear to the back of the house where there is a creek breeze. The CT was also strong. I could detect the scent when coming up the steps. That reminds me--must get more.
  18. I've used quite a few of their fo over the years as well as the KY ones they now have. One that really impressed me was Pumpkin Spice. I poured this in a parasoy several years ago and found one that had never been lit at least 3 yrs afterwards. Wow, it was ever so strong. I recently soaped Little Black Dress, and it's really nice. Behaved beautifully and the scent sticks. I also did small batches of Neroli and Green Irish Tweed. Both of those are also keepers. My ALL TIME FAVE is Christmas Bliss. Can't beat that one.
  19. I didn't have a problem cleaning up after using the black oxide. I used stainless steel spoons and whisks and mixed in a glass bowl. However, the stains in my washcloths are still there even after using bleach. Ughh, what a mess and waste of ingredients, fo, and time for sure. Thanks for the pointers on where to purchase the charcoal.
  20. Yep, that's the answer I was looking for. OK, now to order some charcoal--any recommendations?
  21. I have been trying to use black oxide in my cp soaps for either thin black lines or black swirls. The soaps look great, but the black oxide stains washcloths. I've found that if I lower the amount of bo I get a grey that just kinda bleeds into the rest of the batter. After a lot of searching, I read that some of you use charcoal. Do you have the staining problem with the charcoal? Do those of you who use the bo have staining problems? I would give it up completely but have recently started using Little Black Dress from AH/RE and can't think of a better color combo than white with a little black line or whatever. :smiley2:
  22. Love this one, and it's the look I normally try to achieve. I make most of my candles over at the beach and tend to like that style. This reminds me to get off my ass and go back to the beach house--and use more blue shades!
  23. I use the metal molds with wick pins and don't have a problem. I like the molds a little warmer than room temp and usually hit them with the heat gun. At times, I've sprayed a paper towel with Pam and given the inside of the molds a little rub but don't really find this necessary.
