  1. I've seen them before but need help finding a round silicone mold that has the candle drippings in the mold running down the sides of the candle. I'm NOT wanting a grubby mold. Any help is great before I go cross eyed searching the internet for these. Thanks, Rus' Wife Kim
  2. I have been working w/ it and really want to love it, because the shipped price is really good for us. I love the cold scent throw, but the hot is lacking. I get great hot throw in many of the fo's we use, but there are many more that it's not making the cut - so we're leaning against it.
  3. Who has a very white colored soy wax in flake form? I have some and I don't remember where it came from. Thanks!
  4. We go through thousands of glass jars each year and despite getting them made in USA - we still find several jars w/ hairline fractures. These are a disaster waiting to happen! We try hard to inspect all jars, but some cracks are not very visible to the eye. I would question a crack first since you were using soy wax and a cooler burning wick. It you use jars that aren't seamless, we've found this to be a larger problem glass type. Rus
  5. Above I posted I could smell my soy 10 feet away, but I meant to type 2 feet away. Thanks for the input. Would you say that typically a good soy candle can scent at least 1 living room, based on your own candles or others that you have tested? I think part of my problem is I haven't burned anybody elses soy candles. I think I'll go find a beanpod or er'go to sample..
  6. OK, I've been testing soy for a short time now. I'm looking to add a soy line to my current paraffin/veggie candles. I'm learning that soy will NOT throw as well as paraffin. However, what's your best comparison? If your old paraffin or paraffin/veggie blend that would scent a large living room or a small house - what will your soy formula scent? What's the best I can hope to achieve? Example: My response is my best paraffin/veggie formula will scent my entire main floor or about 1,200-1,500 sq. ft., I can even smell it downstairs. But my soy testing can be smelled only when you walk up and I'm standing about 10 feet from the candle. (My soy testing is still in it's infancy stage) so I'm not able to report a better hot throw yet. Basically I"m wanting to know what's the best "hot throw" you've achieved w/ your soy formula. Also you can or don't have to disclose what wax you use. I'm just trying to see what is the best results the majority of soy makers have been able to achieve w/ this product - so I can know when to stop and when I've gotten a top "hot throw" from my product. I'm testing CB Advanced and CB135. I think there are 2 advanced formulas. I'm not sure which mine is, but it's new from Peak. Thanks for any participation!
  7. I am new to working w/ soy - but not new to candlemaking. I have just started testing CB advanced and CB 135. I have noticed better tops w/ Advanced and a great cold throw, but my hot throw is minimal at best. Do a search on Ecosoya waxes and there is tons of information of side by side tests between Advanced, 135 and blending the 2 - with and without additives. Basically what I read from past responses is that 135 throws better than advanced, but advanced looks better. I have noticed more frosting w/ 135. Good luck w/ your switch!
  8. Hi all, I'm new on this board and look forward to asking questions and helping others w/ our candle knowledge. I'm looking for a better UV Inhibitor. I can't navigate my way through forums yet, and know I'm posting in Veg. Wax blends as we are starting to experiment with soy - but my UV question is for paraffin veg. wax blends. We get ours from French Color but it's still allowing discoloration when our retailers put our product too close to the front windows. Any other suggestions that we might try. Especially if you can tell me who the manufacturer is so we can order direct instead of through a candle supply company. Thanks for the help.
